The Billionaire’s Pretend Fiancée

My sexy feistiness

Sofie’s POV

I heaved a deep breath as I slipped my hand into Roman’s warm one and he helped me out of the car.

“You seem tense, baby, are you alright?” He asked, wrapping his arm around my waist, his eyes oozing with warmth and affection as they stared into mine.

I shook my head even though I felt nervous as hell at the thought of being in a large, shiny room with wealthy men and women from all walks of life.

I had no idea what I was supposed to do as Roman’s plus one.

“I’m okay. I’m just really blown away by the size of this place, you know.”

Roman chuckled, leaning down to press a kiss to my forehead, “This place is nothing though. You should have seen the venue of last year’s gala. It was really out of this world.”

I shook my head as an incredulous gasp escaped my lips, “So you mean there’s somewhere even more extravagant than this place?”

My eyes roamed around the parking lot which had various colours of exquisite car models parked inside it.

As much as I tried to tell myself that I wasn’t intimidated in the slightest bit by the wealthy opulence that the whole charity gala exuded, a tiny portion within me knew I was lying.

“Exactly, cara. So are you ready to go in now?” Roman asked, caressing my waist.

I nodded, “Yes, I am. Let’s do this.”

He gave my waist one last caress before his hand slid down and he intertwined our hands together.

A choked gasp squeezed itself out of my mouth as we stepped into the magnificent hall and I beheld the luxurious interior decor of the place which made me realize something for the umpteenth time that day.

Roman and I definitely didn’t belong in the same social class and we never would, at least not in this life.

The amount of suave, rich men clad in expensive suits whose prices could probably feed me for a decade or even more, fascinated me.

Not to even talk of the haughty-looking women donning ostentatious, bejeweled outfits from head to toe.

Most of them were chatting happily with each other with scintillating goblets of champagne clutched in their hands.

I was brought out of my reverie when Roman suddenly huffed beside me.

“They may all look like they care about each other but trust me when I tell you that it’s all fake. Most of them truly missed their calling, they should be actresses and actors instead.” He scoffed as he halted a waiter who bowed to us.

“Can you drink alcohol now?” He asked, to which I shook my head as I darted him an apologetic smile.

“No, not yet.” I said, and left it at that.

“Oh.” He looked defeated but nodded before waving the waiter off.

“Why do you think it’s fake?” I asked as Roman led us to an empty table at the center of the hall.

“I don’t think it’s fake, doll.” He chuckled, “I know it’s fake because I’ve been in this business since I was a teenager. You know once when I accompanied Nana to an auction, I overheard a woman who Nana had introduced to me as her close friend, telling her husband that Nana should have abandoned me on the streets when my parents died because I killed them.”

“Oh, Roman.” I muttered, suppressing the urge to hug him.

He just waved it off with a smile, “I’m over their bullshit now but I can’t lie, hearing it fuelled my self-hatred because I used to blame myself for my parents’ deaths.”

I was about to say something when the woman I hadn’t expected to see at the gala, in my wildest dreams plopped onto a chair opposite to me, with a taunting smile etched onto her features.

A whirlwind of emotions, ranging from anger to panic swirled within me as she noisily chugged her champagne.

“Hi, baby. I see you brought it with you.” Lana snorted, eying me, disgust evident in her features.

Hearing her call Roman by a pet name while she deemed me as an inanimate object made fury bristle within me, but I stifled it by clutching my hand into a fist.

Roman darted me an apologetic stare, completely ignoring her, “Let me talk to the event coordinator. We should be able to get another table.”

He had already started dialling a number on his phone but I placed a hand over his wrist and shook my head, “It’s fine.” I lied.

It wasn’t fine. I wanted to leave that place because I couldn’t stand the bitch but I was determined to be the bigger person.

“Are you sure?” He asked, his grey eyes almost drilling a hole into my face.

I smiled, “Absolutely.”

“I guess it can still stand me after all.” Lana muttered, pouring some champagne into her empty goblet.

I wanted her to know that she couldn’t trample on me like I was nothing. She could be richer and more powerful than I was but she was a human being just like me and she just had the privilege that she was born into wealth.

“Miss Lana, can I ask you a question?” I asked, with the politest tone I could muster.

She arched an eyebrow as she directed a vitriolic glare at me, “No.”

“I’m still going to ask anyway.” I muttered, “Why are you such a desperate bitch?”

She choked as her eyes reddened and soon became teary. “What did you just call me?”Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“You are a desperate bitch, Lana. Have some class, okay? You know, you belong to a higher social class, so I don’t get why you have zero etiquette, weren’t you taught proper manners?”

From the corner of my eyes, I could see Roman’s gaze fixated on me but I went on anyway.

“I guess you can’t answer that too.” I shook my head as I tutted in disapproval before waving a waitress over for a glass of flavored water.

Lana’s face was an amusing sight to behold. Her mouth was gaped in shock while her nostrils were flared up, and it seemed like her eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

“R-Roman, are you going to allow this harlot speak to me like that?” She spat, drawing attention to our table.

“Don’t you ever dare address Sofie by that name again. If anyone here should go by that vile name, it should be you.” Roman calmly said, to which Lana scowled.

“You will regret this, Sofie. I promise you that I will make your life a living hell. Just wait and see.” She growled, darting me a glare before grabbing her purse and leaving our table.

I was about to look back to see where she was going when Roman cupped my jaw and kissed me passionately.

Although I was shocked, I found myself eagerly reciprocating the hot, tantalizing kiss.

“I never knew you could be so hot and feisty. I want you to show me more of that in bed, doll.” Roman whispered against my neck after he broke the kiss.

I felt the familiar wetness in my panties as I repressed a moan from escaping my lips, “So that was the only thing you got out of what just happened.”

“Yes, cara.” He muttered, pressing a kiss to my neck.

“We’re in public, Roman.” I chided, but made no attempt to withdraw myself from him.

“I know and I hate it. I wish I had magic, so I could freeze them all and have you sit on my face, right here and right now.” He growled which sent sparks of lust through me.

With great self-restraint, I finally withdrew myself from him before I could do something obscene in public.

“Let’s focus on the gala for now and when we get home, you can do anything you want with me.” I said before taking a sip of flavored water.

“You’re not teasing me, are you?” Roman whispered into my ears which had me shuddering with torrid desire.

“I would never.” I said, and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.

“Perfect, doll.” He smiled and didn’t utter another word before steering his attention to the man climbing the podium.

I just smiled to myself before I also averted my concentration to the proceeding of the gala.
