Chapter 166
Chapter 166
When Randal heard Margo asking about Allison over the phone, it was like salt to his wounds. He couldn’t control his trembling body and snapped angrily at the phone, “Margo, did you call me just to ask about this unimportant stuff? I don’t give a damn about your Mrs. Flanagan and Ms. Flanagan. What does it matter to you whether I have a girlfriend or not? I agreed to go on that blind date out of respect for you! If you call me about this crap again, see If I won’t get someone to deal with you!”
Just the mention of Allison made him feel weak.
All Margo could hear was a buzzing in her ears, as the call was already disconnected.
What’s wrong with this guy?
She looked up to see Allison staring at her.
Allison had a mocking smile on her lips, “Did you get your answer? If you’re done, you can leave now. Or, you can stay and cook, and I’ll go?”
Watching Margo turn to leave, Allison guessed that Lucian must have warned Randal, so he kept his mouth shut.
But why would Lucian help her? Just because she made a panicked phone call?
Allison was puzzled.
Her mind was in a whirl, and it was as if she was back in the moment before she fainted. A pair of strong arms held her up; she could see the man’s handsome jawline from that angle.
He seemed like an angel, a holy light in the faint glow.
The bubbling sound of the soup brought her back to reality. Allison snapped out of it, served the soup, prepared lunch, and then headed to the hospital.
On the other hand, Penelope happily took the lunchbox and commanded her driver to head to Lindberg Corporation.
Lindberg Corporation was located in a top–tier building in Northfield; even the building itself was made of blue diamond glass. Looking up, it was like a towering luxury building.
“Hello, do you have an appointment?”
The receptionist at Lindberg Corporation saw her in a luxurious outfit, which was in the latest style from a luxury brand this year.
Penelope looked up. “Do I need one?”
The receptionists exchanged glances.
One of them smiled politely. “May I ask who you are…”
“Look closely, I’m Lucian’s fiancée.”
Penelope intentionally patted her not–so–obvious belly.
“So, you’re Ms. Flanagan.” The receptionist immediately led the way, “Ms. Flanagan, this way, please.”
The elevator doors opened to the 66th floor, the CEO’s office. She walked a few steps forward and saw Sheila applying makeup at her desk near the office door. “Sheila, this is Mr. Lindberg’s fiancée.”
Sheila closed her powder box and took a glance.
She remembered Penelope.
Sheila immediately stood up and took the lunchbox from the desk, “Ms. Flanagan, Mr. Lindberg is in a meeting with some vice presidents. Please wait in the lounge.”
About ten minutes later, a vice president walked out of the office with a bad expression, as if he’d just disagreed with Lucian.
He was a relative of Carter’s first wife. Although he was very diligent, his thinking was too conservative, always having a too–conservative attitude toward new products.
Sheila walked into the office, put the lunchbox on the desk, and saw scattered files on the floor. Obviously, Mr. Lindberg had just lost his temper.
Sheila gathered her courage and said, “Mr. Lindberg, Ms. Flanagan is here.”
A chill flashed in Lucian’s eyes, “Let her in.” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Soon, Penelope walked into the office. She had a smile on her face, and her tone was much softer when she spoke.
