Chapter 932
When news reached Yuri, he immediately called Brittany. “My grandson’s in Craneville now? Bring him over, I want to see.”
Since declaring his will, Yuri had not contacted Brittany. During this time, distant relatives from the Lynette family had been showing up one after another, all advising him to think things over, some even trying to sow discord.
For instance, there were whispers about Brittany being away for thirty years-why the sudden return? It had to be fishy.
Then there was talk about Holden, who was deemed more capable than Brittany and, being a man, better suited to take over the family business.
Such talk had Yuri fed up to his ears, but seeing Daniel’s video sparked joy-investigations confirming Daniel as his grandson left Yuri over the moon.
Brittany didn’t refuse. “Alright.”
That very evening, Brittany, along with Isaac and Daniel, arrived at the Lynette Mansion.
Upon seeing Brittany, Leila abandoned her flower arranging, claiming fatigue and retreating upstairs.
The butler led them through the grand entrance of the mansion. “Miss, Mr. Lynette is waiting for you upstairs.”
“Okay.”
The family of three ascended the staircase and arrived at the study, finding the door wide open.
This was Daniel’s first visit to the Lynette Mansion, and he was curious about everything.
“Mommy, where is this?” He asked in a hushed tone.
“Don’t be scared; this is your grandpa’s house.”
“Bri.” Yuri, upon hearing the sound, stood up in an instant, his eyes locking onto Daniel at the doorstep. A heart-shaking tremor ran through him, his soul jolting. He stared at Daniel’s face, feeling a long-lost warmth sweep over him.
“Dad.” Brittany crouched down. “Daniel, say hello.”
Daniel looked at Yuri and called out timidly, “Hello, Grandpa.”
Yuri quickly stepped forward, his usually stoic face now washed with tears, as he wrapped Daniel in a quivering embrace.
Startled, Daniel turned pale, seeking Brittany with eyes pleading for rescue.
“Mommy…”
Brittany’s eyes welled slightly. “Daniel, Grandpa’s just missed you a lot. He’s really exci Can you comfort him, please?”
Daniel reached out, bravely patting Yuri’s back in a clumsy attempt at soothing.
Yuri quickly regained his composure, releasing Daniel and casually wiping away his tears, pretending nonchalance. “I lost my composure.”
Brittany shook her head. “It’s okay, Dad.”
Yuri was clearly taken with Daniel, and even his glance towards Isaac carried a new, evaluative light.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“So, this is your husband?”
It was their first meeting, and Isaac immediately sensed Yuri’s disapproval or perhaps dissatisfaction.
“Dad, this is my husband, Isaac Salter.”
Isaac stood tall and dignified, greeting Yuri with a subdued nod.
Yuri had thoroughly researched everyone connected to Brittany upon confirming her identity, and he was well aware of Isaac’s background. He was rather unhappy with this marriage.
Yuri’s wish was to have Brittany stay in Craneville, to make up for the father-daughter affection.
However, the Salter family held significant influence and wealth in Imperial City. Isaac couldn’t be expected to relinquish the power and status tied to the Salters and start anew in Craneville.
Likewise, Yuri wouldn’t entertain the idea of Brittany leaving Craneville, not even a step away.
Yuri nodded. “Stay for dinner tonight.”
Brittany agreed.
Daniel adapted quickly, going from initial reserve to being completely at ease in under half an hour, nestling in Yuri’s arms and charming him with every affectionate call of
“Grandpa.”
Perhaps it was their special bond, but Yuri showed a rare side of casual ease around Daniel, unlike his usual aloofness with outsiders.
Brittany quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
