Chapter 921
Ivy made her way up the stairs, her footsteps echoing softly in the quiet of the grand house.
Holden remained where he was, his expression unreadable, betraying nothing of his thoughts.
In the study, Dominic motioned for Isaac to take a seat. “Man, it’s been years since we last caught up. How come you didn’t give me a heads-up before swinging by Craneville?”
“Just needed a change of scenery,” Isaac replied casually.
“How’s everyone else doing?”
“Pretty good, actually. Derek’s about to tie the knot, and Wesley Tueley’s been hitched for a while now. His little girl’s not so little anymore.
Despite the years apart, the bond between Isaac and Dominic hadn’t faded in the slightest. Dominic let out a wistful sigh. “After graduation, my family asked me to come back. I always meant to visit Imperial City again, but just never found the time.”
Politics ran in Dominic’s family for three generations. Following in their footsteps, he’d taken up the mantle, and his influence in Craneville was nothing short of impressive.
“So, when’s your big day, Zac?” Dominic asked, nudging the topic towards matrimony.
At the mention, a soft warmth touched Isaac’s eyes. “Well, I’ve actually…
Knock, knock, knock.
Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by an urgent rap at the door, and in walked a woman dressed in an exquisite gown. “Dominic, I heard you had a visitor. What are you guys chatting about?”
Dominic hadn’t expected Ivy to barge in like this. He stood up abruptly. “Ivy, what brings you here?”
At first glance, Ivy’s eyes locked with Isaac’s, and there was a brief, palpable pause.
How did he know Dominic?
Sensing her gaze, Isaac stood up. “Dominic, who might this be?”
“Zac, let me introduce you. This is none other than our local royal gem, Princess Ivy,” Dominic said, a hint of pride in his voice.
“Ivy, this is Isaac Salter, an old buddy of mine.” Noticing the lack of warmth in the introduction, Dominic quickly added, “We go way back.”
Isaac offered a charming smile. “Your Highness.”
Ivy, taken aback that Isaac was acquainted with Dominic, recalled their previous
encounter and swiftly moved forward, extending her hand. “Mr. Salter, a pleasure to meet you.”
Her lace gloves, paired with her lavish gown, accentuated her slender fingers, drawing the eye.
Isaac shook her hand, but released it a moment later.
Dominic was oblivious to Ivy’s overt enthusiasm. “Zac, why don’t you join us for dinner tonight?” he suggested.
After a moment’s thought, Isaac agreed. He valued his friendship with Dominic immensely, and attending the dinner would also be an opportunity to network. Moving to Craneville hadn’t crossed his mind previously, but with Brittany’s changed status, he needed to plan ahead.
Cráneville seemed like an excellent place to settle, and if Brittany wished to commute between cities, he was supportive of that. Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
As the trio descended the staircase, Ivy maintained a cool facade, yet her gaze stayed fixed on Isaac. He was every bit the Salter, his every move the epitome of textbook perfection.
Dominic was eager to introduce Isaac around, and the two of them together struck a particularly harmonious chord.
Ivy watched the evening unfold from the sidelines.
After the dinner party, Dominic invited Isaac to visit his family.
“Let’s do it another time,” Isaac declined. “I’ve got a date later tonight.”
Understanding crossed Dominic’s face. “Found someone special?”
A tender light flickered in Isaac’s eyes. “Yeah, she’s waiting for me to come home.”
Dominic was genuinely happy for him. “Bring her over sometime, we’ll have dinner.”
“Will do.”
After Isaac left, Ivy, barely able to contain her curiosity, turned to Dominic. “So, you guys were college buddies?”
“That’s right.”
