Chapter 856
Chapter 856
“It’s all set. She’ll be out of the country within three days, max.”
Nathan was aware of Brittany’s dislike for Joie, and he had said all that needed to be said. “So, the
compatibility report indicated a high match between her and Grace, that was the information you
uncovered?” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“No.” Nathan shook his head. “The hospital relayed the news. Ms, Joie found out about Grace’s critical
condition and got tested immediately.”
Having gathered all the information she needed, Brittany glanced at Kari, who was getting ready to
leave, and then back at Nathan. “Alright, thank you.”
Nathan was pleasantly surprised by her gratitude.
As the door closed behind him, he strode away rapidly.
He didn’t want to make Kari uncomfortable by sticking around, knowing she didn’t want to see him.
Kari watched Nathan’s retreating figure, pausing for a moment before saying her goodbyes to Brittany.
After seeing Kari off, Brittany returned to the hospital room, her gaze resting on the sleeping Grace, her
‘mind swirling with thoughts.
Meanwhile, Joie had requested to go home and pack her bags.
Nathan had arranged for a bodyguard to accompany her closely.
From the window, Brittany caught sight of Joie’s retreating silhouette. Although she still walked with an
odd gait, one could say her recovery was swift.
Isaac stepped into the room.
Seeing Brittany by the window, wrapped in a veil of solitude, he set down his bouquet and moved to
stand behind her.
“What are you looking at?”
“Ah!”
Lost in her thoughts, Brittany jumped at his voice, involuntarily shrinking back.
“What’s wrong?”
Meeting Isaac’s concerned gaze, Brittany realized she had overreacted. “I was just thinking about work
and didn’t notice you.”
Isaac leaned in and kissed her lips softly, “Did Kari stop by this afternoon?”
“Yeah, she came on behalf of the studio to check on Grandma.”
Knowing their close bond, Isaac wasn’t surprised by the visit.
Brittany was filled with worries.
Isaac, perceptive as always, spotted the issue. “Trouble at work?”
“The Dustin Group is having some cash flow problems.”
The Craneville project required a sizeable startup fund, easily in the tens of millions, which wasn’t a
small amount for her.
The company couldn’t muster such liquidity on short notice.
She was even considering mortgaging some of her properties to secure the necessary cash flow.
Hearing this, Isaac’s lips tightened.
After a long moment, he said, “I can provide the money.”
“No need.” Brittany rejected him without hesitation. “Your money is yours. I can’t use your money.”
Isaac felt a sting from her intense stance, “We’re about to be married. We’re a unit, a team. Why won’t
you take my money?”
Brittany’s lips parted slightly.
“Consider it an investment from me.”
Isaac stepped closer, his warmth seeping through the thin fabric, prompting Brittany to instinctively
brace against his chest.
“Zakky, this isn’t a small sum. If the investment fails, then…”
“Risk is part of the game.”
Deep down, Isaac hoped Brittany would come to depend on him, even just a little.
However, Brittany’s upbringing and experiences over the years made it hard for her to trust anyone,
and even with their impending marriage, she showed no signs of changing.
“I’ll take the money then.”
She actually had great confidence in this project. With the funding secured, the Dustin Group wouldn’t
face cash flow issues for years to come.
Overjoyed, Isaac couldn’t wait. He whisked Brittany back home, not even waiting for Grace to wake
from her slumber.
As soon as they entered the door, Brittany found herself pinned against it.
Ever since Grace had fallen ill, they hadn’t been intimate.
Isaac seemed desperate, as if trying to vent his emotions, gripping Brittany’s waist, his passion
unbridled!
In less than ten minutes, Brittany was left breathless, “Protection…”
She wasn’t planning on a second child just yet.
Isaac opened the drawer, but his hand found nothing.
“Bri, we’re out.”
Brittany, caught in an uncomfortable state of desire, frowned.
Isaac attempted to rise, but Brittany held him back, saying, “It’s alright, I’m on my safe days.”
Isaac, reassured as if given a tranquilizer, gave in to his desires.
