The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 853

Chapter 853

Isaac felt a weight lift off his chest, his whole being relaxing now that the ordeal was over. The next day,

Grace was in such agony from the incision that she had no choice but to pop some painkillers. But

even those couldn’t fully stave off the waves of pain. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Daniel was beside himself with worry for Grace, his eyes rimmed red with tears.

But this only made Grace’s heart ache more. “Sweetie, don’t cry. I’m not in pain anymore.”

Standing by the window, Daniel’s voice trembled, barely above a whisper, “It’s okay if you hurt. I’ll blow

on it and make it better.”

Grace let out a snort of laughter. “Okay.”

Daniel lifted her shirt and gently blew on her wound. He didn’t last long before his cheeks ached from

the effort, eliciting chuckles from those around them.

Puffing up with resolve, Daniel declared, “I’m going to practice when I get home. I’ll be able to do it for

much longer.”

Brittany pinched her son’s cheek affectionately. “You’ll have to work hard, darling.”

Grace’s condition visibly improved day by day.

Although she wanted to check on Joie, she was still bedridden.

So, she settled for a video call to stay in touch.

Joie, being young, bounced back quickly, up and about in less than twenty-four hours. She visited

Grace’s room, moving a bit awkwardly, but she was faring much better than Grace. Seeing her in such

discomfort softened Grace’s heart, even making her consider keeping her around.

However, as soon as she remembered what Joie had done, the words got stuck in her throat,

unspoken.

Before Joie left, Grace called out to her. “Take care of yourself once you’re abroad.”

Joie hesitated, managing a small, wry smile. “Grandma, I will.”

She leaned over, pouring Grace a glass of water. “I’ll take good care of myself. You stay healthy too.”

Grace drank the water without suspicion, “Alright.”

Joie’s lips curved slightly as she saw Grace’s trusting demeanor.

Back in her own room, Joie’s frailty vanished. She strode to her bed and flopped down, her movements

so brisk that a sliver of her pale waist was exposed.

She grabbed her phone and dialed a number.

Leda’s voice came through. “You awake?”

“I’ve been awake for a while. I’m not the one who got the surgery.” Joie boasted with pride. “The Salter

family’s sending me away, so I might have to lay low for a while.”

Leda considered Joie useless since her repeated act of saving Grace’s life couldn’t even compare to

Brittany’s influence.

But Joie didn’t think of it that way. “Let’s not contact each other for a bit.”

After hanging up, Joie made another call.

This time, a tender male voice came through, saying, “Go on.”

“The plan’s going smoothly. I’m booked on a flight in two days; I’ll see you in Craneville.”

“Someone’s investigating you. I’ll help you slip away.”

“Great.”

The call ended with a click.

Joie wasn’t angry, instead, her lips curled in anticipation.

Grace didn’t want to disrupt Brittany and Isaac’s work and insisted they not visit during the day.

Thankfully, with Emily and the caregivers looking after her, Brittany could work without worry.

Back at the studio, Kari had just wrapped up a meeting and brightened up seeing Brittany return.

“Brittany, you’re finally back.”

Kari had missed her terribly. The eccentric clients with their bizarre demands were too much to handle

without Brittany.

Brittany, resigned, ushered Kari into the office. “Alright, what impossible request do they have this

time?”

“They want to talk to you personally.” Kari was at her wit’s end. “It’s a major client.”

The latest to approach the studio was a well-known diva of the industry, capricious and difficult to

please.

Although Kari thought she had done everything perfectly, tailored to the client’s whims, the diva refused

to sign the contract and insisted on meeting Brittany.
