Chapter 851
Chapter 851
Brittany was no fool; Zella was clearly dropping hints.
“Is that so?”
Zella sensed Brittany had caught on and smoothly changed the subject.
Brittany was only too happy to play along. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
After spending over an hour in the café, and with the surgery drawing near, they headed back to the
hospital.
“Brittany,” Zella called out, “Whatever happened before, I really did consider you a friend.”
Zella’s voice sounded ethereal as she continued, “So, let’s just say there’s a line that shouldn’t be
crossed.”
Brittany narrowed her eyes. “I don’t follow.”
Did Zella know about her digging into the research institute?
That was impossible.
She’d been discreet, and Charles wasn’t someone just anyone could pin down.
Watching Brittany feign composure, Zella sighed, “I mean no harm. I just don’t want to see you ruin the
happiness you’ve worked so hard for over something unnecessary.”
After Zella left, Brittany stood rooted to the spot, silent for a long while.
At eleven in the morning, the surgery officially began.
Grace and Joie were wheeled into the operation room at the same time.
As the doors shut, Isaac’s expression grew tense. Even with the best doctors, he couldn’t help but
worry about Grace.
Manuel and his family sat on the hallway benches, restless with anxiety. “Grace has always been the
picture of health, lively as can be just days ago. Could there be an issue that made her ill so suddenly?”
‘Mr. Salter, how many days a year do you spend with Grandma? How could you possibly know when
she fell ill or if she’s been in treatment all along?” Noel couldn’t sit still after hearing that, “Grandma
takes a turn for the worse, and you’re the first to bolt. Now you’re here, stirring the pot with your snide
remarks?”
Manuel felt embarrassed. “Noel!”
Noel lifted his gaze defiantly, “Got a problem?”
He wasn’t wrong, after all.
Manuel, faced with his own son, was fuming yet speechless.
Leda remained silent throughout, eventually excusing herself from the hospital.
Brittany stayed by Isaac’s side all the while.
As time dragged on, Isaac grew more agitated, pacing back and forth restlessly.
Outside, the wind had picked up, and all of Imperial City seemed shrouded in gloom, a heavy
atmosphere pressing down.
Finally, the operation room doors opened, and Isaac zeroed in on the doctor, asking, “How’s the
situation?”
“The transplant was a success. Grace is still unconscious, but we’re monitoring her closely.”
Isaac exhaled sharply in relief, and after Brittany exchanged a few warm words with the doctor, they
sent him on his way.
The surgery’s success was a cause for celebration.
Isaac pulled Brittany into a tight embrace, tears of joy streaming down his face.
Brittany wrapped her arms around his waist, whispering words of comfort, prompting Noel to shake his
head in amusement.
The lovebirds were just too sweet!
Two hours later, Grace was settled in a VIP room, still not fully awake, her vitals monitored closely.
Joie was in a different room, with Isaac’s bodyguards posted outside, barring anyone from getting too
close.
After seven or eight hours in the hospital, Brittany was going stir-crazy.
She seized a moment to dash home. After washing away the day’s fatigue, Brittany prepared a pot of
hearty soup to take back to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Joie had awakened.
Isaac went to see her as soon as he got the news.
“Bro Isaac Joie put on a brave smile.
Isaac walked into the room and tossed a file onto the bed, “Care to explain this?”
Joie eyed the stack of papers with a sinking feeling, “Bro Isaac, what’s this?”
“The car accident five years ago, you orchestrated that whole thing, didn’t you?”
Isaac’s voice was cold and commanding from above
