The Billionaire Hit Woman

Chapter 13

CASSANDRA

This is exactly what I wanted; for him to fall deeply in love with me to the extent that’ll he’ll let his guard down around me, so I can find an opening to kill him, but I wasn’t expecting myself to waste time in doing it, and I don’t like the fact that I enjoy his company and look forward to seeing him daily every time, it wasn’t part of my plan. I couldn’t sleep well last night because my mind kept replaying the kiss he gave me on my forehead. For Christ’s sake, hear yourself out Cassy, it’s just your forehead and yet you keep thinking about it. What if he had kissed you on your lips? You’d probably drop dead on the spot.

Since today is Sunday, Nicholas is still going to be home, and perhaps I’ll finally finish the job I failed to do last night; I shouldn’t miss my chance today. I need to end this before it escalates to something bigger, something I’ll have no control over. Now I understand what Victoria meant when she said to not fall in love with him, and get the job done as quickly as possible. Am I possibly be falling in love with the man I’ve been paid to kill? The new phone Nick got for me rings, breaking into my train of thoughts. He got me a phone on my second day in his house, so I’ll be able to call him and also to do other things and connect to people online, and so I saved Victoria’s and Cole’s numbers on the phone, and threw away the burner phone Victoria gave to me.

I pick up the phone and look at the caller ID to see it’s the devil I was just thinking about, Victoria. I contemplate on not picking up, but seeing as she’s the one calling, she must have something important to say. “Hello.” I say, placing the phone by my ear.

“Cassandra. Dear, sweet Cassandra. Why, if I may ask, are you taking so much time to finish off the job?” She says, her tone laced with frustration.

I scoff, the nerve of this bitch. “Unbelievable! It’s just the second week in his house and yet you are talking like I’ve spent a year already, so will you calm down?” I am getting pissed. What the hell does she expect from me? She is not the one trying to kill an extremely kind, and loving person, who doesn’t deserve to die, for money and besides, I have three months, so why is she rushing me?

She clicks her tongue. “I am being patient with you, but I just can’t help but wonder why you’re going on dates with the person you are supposed to kill.”

“What do you mean by ‘dates’? All I did was to go on just one single harmless date with him so as to make him fall harder for me, and completely let his guard down around him and besides, I’m merely trying to do what I was asked to do but do you expect me to just go over to his room, knock on his door and then kill him? You make it sound as if I’m a professional assassin.” I say, lowering my voice, so Nick doesn’t hear me in case he comes up to wake me up.

“I didn’t mean it like that but hurry up with it, because I need something next year and I need him to be dead by then, six feet under the ground and darling, if you keep raising your voices at me, I’ll make sure you will get buried with him.” She spits out dangerously, making me gulp knowing fully well that she can do it.

“I’m sorry, all I’m just trying to say is for you to be patient with me. I’m not an assassin, so of course it’ll take me a while to do it, and besides, I still have three months, so just be patient, I’ll do the job.”

“No backing out of the job or you die.” She says, making me roll my eyes. She’s got serious trust issues.

“You don’t have to constantly remind me of death, I will fulfill my promise so stop trying to scare me into rushing this. I also have to think how I’ll do it without attracting suspicion to myself, or leaving any clues that’ll make the police know it’s I who killed him.” I say

She pauses, as if thinking about it, before finally talking. “You have a point. I’ll talk you later… hopefully, I’ll be praising you for successfully carrying out your job.” She says calmly and then cuts the call. I sigh, getting up from the bed, I really need a breather. I need space from all this. My life is already a mess as it is.

“Cassandra are you in there?” The sound of my name accompanied with the knock on the door, makes my heart leap in fright. Has he been outside this entire time? What if he heard the whole conversation, because I started talking loudly at a point during my conversation with Victoria? Would he kill me or something?

“Cassandra?” He calls out my name again and I calm my racing heart before walking towards the door. If he heard me, he won’t be so calm right now. And besides, he won’t eavesdrop on my conversation; that, I’m sure off. I reach the door and open it wide to see Nick in just his boxers and no shirt. Great! Just great! This isn’t what I need when I am trying to think straight. Nope, I’m just going to look away.

“Good morning.” I say but he doesn’t reply, he just keeps staring at me with his mouth wide open, making me wonder what was he looking at, and if there is something on me. I check myself, but nothing’s wrong. “Nick.” I call his name again but he doesn’t answer. I follow his eyes to my chest to see that he was staring at my nipples that were showing because the fabric of the extremely short night gown I wore last night isn’t too strong, and now my nipples are shooting out. I swear I didn’t know it was showing, and this is not an attempt at seducing him.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

“Nick!” I yell and cross my hands over my chest.

“I’m so sorry. I got distracted for a while.” He says and I stare at him. My cheeks must be so red now considering the fact that I am burning with embarrassment.

“What are you doing here?” I ask him.

“Well, you weren’t out of your room yet which is unusual because you’re usually the one to wake up first, so I decided to check up on you to see what you were doing, and make sure you’re okay.” He says and I smile. Why does he keep doing sweet things that make me hesitate to kill him?

“That’s so sweet, I’m fine, just a little bit light headed that’s all. I’m sure I’ll feel much better after resting properly.” I say and he moves closer to me, and touches my forehead to feel my temperature. His warm hand on my head sends chills down my spine, and makes my body heat up in excitement. Damn you, stupid hormones. The position we’re has me staring at his hard chest. I didn’t think that he would be so muscular, I wonder for how long he has been working out.

“What are you doing?” I ask him, my voice low.

“Checking to see if you are well enough to make breakfast.” He jokes and I laugh out.

“Well, I’m pretty sure checking my temperature won’t determine that, Dr. Nick. Anyways, I’m fine, you don’t have to worry, and cooking is not going to do me any harm, so I can definitely make breakfast for us. Just give me a second to change and I will be downstairs in no time.” I say.

“Okay that’s fine. I will just get going now. See you down in a few minutes.” He says and I nod. He walks away from my door, and I can hear him racing down the stairs, so I close the door and rest my back against it, with one hand on my chest trying to calm my racing heart down and the other on my heated cheek, feeling how warm it is. That was so awkward. He was staring at my bare chest and he had my blood rising from just one touch and I couldn’t do anything. How am I going to kill him? This shit is driving me crazy.

I walk back to the closet and throw a big gown on, and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth. As soon as I brush my teeth, I leave my room, and walk down the stairs to the living room to find it empty. I shrug, assuming he has gone somewhere to do whatever. I start making my way into the kitchen and come to a halt when I see Nick in front of a gas cooker with his back facing me. He is making breakfast for us? I didn’t know he could cook.

He still hasn’t put on a shirt allowing me to watch how his arm muscles moved as he cooks on the gas cooker; his body is so freaking muscular, but not too much, it’s just the right amount of muscles. But I don’t understand, why is he cooking by himself? I thought he ordered take outs, I thought he couldn’t cook, I thought that was why he hired me in the first place; to cook for him. If he could cook which I can see now that he can, why then did he hire me? And where did he even learn how to cook, because he didn’t pay attention to his mother’s cooking lessons.

This dude is so full of surprises, and I don’t really understand what he wants to pay me for, since I’m basically living like a queen, and I cook whenever I want and clean whenever I want to, although I wash his clothes, and all, but, I’m definitely not acting as his house help, which I’m supposed to be. Why do I even care about all this? I’m in house already… What is going on with me? And why is he cooking when he doesn’t know how to?
