Chapter 94
LINDEN Fuck!
This was what I was scared of, but I couldn’t tell her it was her fault. She wouldn’t have left the house if it wasn’t for me. I pushed her hard, and now he and our baby were in danger.
When I called my father last night, and he told me not to come, I had to honor his wish.
She wanted space. She was safe there, but I should have gone there in the morning the moment I woke up. I was thinking of not ruining her mood. But everything happening around her was my fault.
“I made everything worse.” I fixed my comm and rolled my shirt sleeves above my elbows.
“Don’t go there, brother.” Sax gripped my shoulder.
“I’m going to break every face whoever is in that car. I swear to God.”
“We’re three minutes out,” Lynx interrupted to update us as he glanced down at the iPad, monitoring our vehicle to Estelle’s location.
“It’s my fault. It’s all my fault. I should have watched her. I failed in my job again. I’m quitting once Mrs. L is safe.” Qamar had been blaming himself since yesterday when he found the note and Estelle’s panic button on the bedside. But I blamed myself more. I was her husband, and she was impulsive and doing something reckless because of what I did.
I should have listened to her when she said she wasn’t ready to talk to me, but I could blame myself every day for the rest of my life, and what had already happened would not change.
“Can we stop with the blaming game here?” said Kye. “Let’s not forget she has a mind on her own. Even if our job is to keep someone safe, we can’t cage them in their houses. Q is used to Estelle telling him when she wants to go out. So when she sneaked out, we did not see that coming.”
“Hunter would,” Sax said,
“But he’s not here, is he?” Kye told him.
I checked the time on my watch again because it felt like it was broken.
My stomach still twisted painfully. I was the kind of man who had been in a lot of life-threatening situations, and I didn’t get scared easily, but this time, my wife’s and my child’s lives hung in the balance. I was frightened she would get into an accident or get hurt. I was scared of anything she would endure and the trauma that would last long in her memory.
“She’s ten seconds to the traffic lights,” Yue informed from the Gunner room. “Shit.”
“What is it, Yue?” I could barely comprehend. My body vibrated with myriad emotions I didn’t know how to control.
“She didn’t make it to the crossing. The white car just hit the rear.”
“Yes. She stopped,” Lynx confirmed it.
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Tell me she’s okay. Did she make it out of the car? The driver in the white sedan? I swear I’m gonna kill them.” I growled out my anger. It didn’t help when I heard nothing in response.
“We’re one minute out.”
“We can’t get closed. Park the car. I’m walking.” The car hadn’t been parked yet. I had already opened the door and jumped out. Judging by their footsteps, they followed suit.
My adrenaline rushed. My body burned with anger and rage that I didn’t know where to put it, probably to those motherfuckers. I ran as fast as possible towards the traffic light, ignoring the passing cars and those assholes cursing me.
“Boss, let us see the situation first.”
“That’s my wife in there, Lynx.” I ignored his words. Nothing was more important to me right now than saving Estelle. I didn’t care about my life as long as I knew she was safe.
The commotion was crowded. When I crossed the street, the car almost mauled me. I couldn’t give a fuck. I pushed through the sea of onlookers, ignoring their shits.
“Check the car behind her,” I talked to the comm. “Don’t ever let those fuckers go, or I will fire you all.”
Lynx went left. I went right. When her car came into view, my knees almost gave up. The rear of her car was nearly totaled. Thankfully, the front was okay, but there was no guarantee that she was safe in the driver’s seat.
I sprinted to the driver’s side.
“Sir, let me check the passenger. The door is locked.”
“It’s my wife, officer. I suggest you back off!” I poured my anger towards the officer-the poor guy was only doing his job.
“But, sir.”
“Fuck off! She won’t talk to anyone. Go, find the driver of that white sedan. That’s your priority.”
“Sir?” He hesitated. Who was I to order him? Well, I was only the concerned husband of the terrified pregnant woman chased by those fucking assholes.
I glared at the police officer before I knocked on her window. Her hands were still on the steering wheel, hiding her face, but I could tell she was shaking.
“Estelle?” I knocked louder. She was startled in her seat. “Baby, it’s me. Open the door, please?” I knocked again. “Can you open the door, baby?”
She lifted her head, turning to my side. Her eyes widened, filled with tears and so much horror. “Gabriel.” She managed to call my name in a muffled voice.
“Open the door, baby.” I mouthed. I could have easily broken the window, but I didn’t want the broken glass hitting her.
Shaking, she unlocked it. The moment I pulled the door, she unlatched her seatbelt, and I was already hugging her. I cupped the back of her head and kissed her.
“Baby, are you hurt?” I whispered. Jesus Christ. I almost cried. I’d never felt so relieved to feel her in my arms.
Her hands were still shaking. “I’m so scared.”
“It’s over now. Are you in pain? Did you hit your head or something?”
“No. I think I’m fine.” She shook her head in my embrace.
“I’m taking you out now, okay?”Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
When she nodded, I adjusted her seat and pulled her out, carrying her bridal style. “Wrap your arms around me. Are you sure you’re okay?”
All I heard was applause. I wanted to yell at them one by one. These fuckers I hoped they didn’t take pictures or videos. Thank God my men were reliable, blocking these nosy people.
“Kye, check her belongings. Take them with you.”
“Yes, boss.”
“The white sedan is empty,” Lynx said through the comm.
“Search anything in that car, the registration and plate number, and send them to the Gunner. I want those motherfuckers found today.”
