Chapter 2011 Talking Nonsense
Chapter 2011 Talking Nonsense
Isla thought of rushing into Charles' office and confronting him, once and for all, about him and Sheryl.
But the thought of making more of a mess held her back. She paced back and forth, wearing a hole
through her office's carpet, and still undecided about what she should do.
Unable to come up with another solution, she decided to call Aron.
"Are you busy right now?" Isla asked, sounding like something was bothering her.
Aron sensed she was in a bad mood. "The baby is sleeping," he said quietly. "Did something happen?"
"I told you about the thing between Sheryl and Melissa, right?" After asking, she remembered that Aron
was another person who knew something about the issue. If she couldn't find a solution herself, she
had to find someone who could help her come up with something.
"Yes. Did anything happen?" Aron gently kissed their baby's cheek before quietly walking out of the
bedroom. With the phone cradled between his neck and ear, he waited patiently for Isla's reply.
"Melissa went to talk with Jackson's fiancée. She almost ruined their relationship!" Isla fretted. "Luckily,
Sheryl stepped in to settle the issue. What should I do now? I can't just let Melissa and Charles get
away with that!" The more she thought about what happened, the angrier she became.
Aron could sense Isla's fury even though he couldn't see her. Instead of telling her what she could do,
he tried to pacify her. "Sweetheart, calm down. You act impulsively when you're angry. Then who would
be left to think of Sheryl's welfare? You have to calm down, okay?"
With much effort, Aron finally managed to calm Isla down.
"Okay, I'm calm now. What should I do?" Isla just couldn't let the issue go. As Sheryl's friend, she had
this strong impulse to do something to help Sheryl.
"You don't have to do anything. I'm serious. No one should meddle between Charles and Sheryl." NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
"Why?"
She had called Aron in the hopes of him thinking of a solid plan for her. But his suggestion to just stand
by and let Charles and Sheryl figure things out on their own was just disappointing.
"Isla, I understand that you want to do something to help Sheryl out. But getting involved in their conflict
will just make things more complicated. Let Sheryl sort things out on her own. If you continue to involve
yourself in their affairs, you'll just create more trouble for her," Aron patiently explained, trying to make
Isla see reason.
"I think you're only saying that because you're not Sheryl's friend." Aron's words infuriated Isla.
"Isla, don't you think you're being unreasonable? Do you think I'm a heartless man? Do you think I can
stand to watch her get bullied? Is that how you see me? Because let me tell you: Melissa won't allow
Sheryl to leave Charles. If you think they should separate, then go ahead and tell them!" Aron dared
Isla.
Isla fell silent at his reply.
After a few beats of silence, Aron thought he had pushed Isla too far. He tried to swallow his guilt down.
"Isla, I didn't mean to be so hard on you. But please try to understand where I'm coming from."
'Sheryl and Charles had already messed their relationship up. Will this break us as well?' he thought to
himself, his heart beating fast in his chest.
With his apology, Isla let his harsh words pass and forgave him. Taking a deep breath, she asked, "So
should I just wait for them to sort this thing out?"
"Yes. Just be patient for now. How is Sheryl doing?" Sheryl's attitude was the canary in the gold mine,
Aron believed. If she still loved Charles, there was no reason for her not to go back to him. But if she
had no feelings for Charles anymore, then Isla wouldn't have to do anything for the two of them.
"Sheryl said she's fine. She asked me to stay out of it," Isla grumbled.
"Then why do you still bother? Even if you talk to Charles now, what do you expect would happen? If
you caused trouble again, how would Sheryl feel?" Aron patiently explained to Isla.
Isla nodded her assent. "Okay, you're right. I'll listen to your suggestion. I'm not going to do anything for
now. However, if Melissa starts meddling again, I'm not going to let her get away with it."
More than letting Aron know about her decision, Isla thought more about it to herself. In speaking the
words out loud, it seemed like she was willing her mind to stick to this plan.
"Sure. Just spend more time with Sheryl. I'll take care of the baby," Aron said.
Isla then asked more about their child. When everything seemed alright between the two of them, she
started to feel relieved.
She ended the call and kept a closer eye on Sheryl. She tried to see if her friend was telling the truth
and doing fine.
When she finally appeared before Sheryl again, her friend put her pen down and asked, "Isla, what are
you planning?"
"What? What are you talking about?" Isla put on an innocent look, acting as if she didn't know what
Sheryl was talking about.
"I've got work to do. Why are you here?" Sheryl shook her head.
"I feel like going shopping. Do you want to come with me?" Isla asked as casually as she could.
Sheryl narrowed her eyes at her as if she could see what Isla had in mind.
Isla dropped the innocent act, looking more worried than Sheryl had ever seen her. Scratching her
head, she said, "Okay, fine. I'm just worried about you, and I want to know if you're really fine."
"I told you, Isla. I'm fine. If you're not busy, then help me out with some of this work." Sheryl feigned an
annoyed look.
"Alright, alright. I'll leave. I won't disturb you anymore." Isla raised her hands–a sign of surrender. After
that, she walked out of Sheryl's office.
Taking the opportunity, now that Isla wasn't watching her, Sheryl sneaked out of her office to find
Belinda.
Sheryl found Belinda to be in an angry mood. When the receptionist alerted Belinda that Sheryl was
here for her, she immediately asked her to let Sheryl in.
As Sheryl appeared, Belinda walked up to her and spat, "What do you think you're doing here? Did you
come here to humiliate me? Let me tell you: My family has much more money and power than you and
your small company. If you marry Jackson, I will destroy you!" For the first time in her life, Belinda found
herself threatened by someone's harsh words. There was simply no reason to stay calm after that.
"Belinda, have you lost your mind? Jackson is only a partner in my company. I knew from the start that
he is engaged. Why would I step into other people's relationships?" Sheryl tried to explain.
Belinda paused, her anger draining out of her. After a moment, she asked, "What do you mean? Are
you telling me the woman who spoke with me about this was just talking nonsense?"
"Did you seriously think Jackson would marry you just for your money?" Sheryl asked in a grave tone,
hoping Belinda would see the light in her argument.
