Chapter 1979 By Accident
Chapter 1979 By Accident
"No need. Miss Ruan, go to sleep. I will take care of Mr. Lu." Then David opened the curtain between
the beds.
Vicky pretended to sleep.
However, she didn't sleep until the latter half of the night. This was when she concluded that she wasn't
going to get a chance tonight. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
The following day
Melissa woke up at dawn.
"Did Charles come back last night?" Melissa could remember that it was already getting late when
she'd started to fall asleep, and Charles still hadn't gotten home yet. The first thing she did when she
woke up was to look for him, and since he was nowhere to be found, he probably still hadn't gotten
home yet.
Nancy shook her head.
Melissa shook her head again in response upon realizing that Vicky must have had something to do
with it.
This realization left Melissa angry, and she then quickly called Charles.
The phone just kept ringing. Just as Melissa was about to hang up, the call was picked up.
"Hello, Charles, where are you? Why didn't you come back last night?" Melissa's tone was unhappy.
"Aunt Melissa, Charles stayed with me last night. That's why he wasn't able to go home. Please, don't
get mad at him," Vicky answered sweetly.
Melissa immediately felt disgusted when she heard Vicky's voice. She clenched her hands into fists
and asked angrily, "Where's my son?"
"Charles is still asleep. I don't think we should wake him up yet. It's still so early, Aunt Melissa," Vicky
said, seeming to imply that Melissa didn't care about her son.
Before Melissa could say anything else, Vicky hung up the phone.
"Damn it, Vicky. I don't know what kind of magic you're playing on my son." Melissa quivered in anger.
"My Lady, don't be mad. It's not good for your health." Nancy didn't know what else to say to the furious
Melissa.
"I'm not mad..." Melissa mumbled to herself. She then gathered herself and told Nancy to make
breakfast already.
As Vicky hung up the call, she deleted the phone record too.
After washing, Charles came back to the ward.
"Have a good day. I'm going to work." Charles distantly glanced at Vicky as he picked up his phone
from the table, preparing to leave.
Vicky didn't ask him to stay. Besides, she was sure Charles and Melissa were going to fight because of
her anyway.
"Okay, take care." Vicky looked bashfully at Charles.
After leaving, Charles asked David, "Have you found anything yet?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lu. I was too careless. Someone drugged your food last night," David guiltily said.
Charles waived him off. "You couldn't have done anything. Come on, let's go to work."
"Yes, Mr. Lu."
Charles didn't know Melissa had called him, so he had no idea that Melissa was mad at him. He
thought he'd call her to explain why he didn't come home the previous night.
Melissa was just preparing to go and see Clark when Charles suddenly called her.
"Why are you calling me?" Melissa coldly said as she answered the call.
Charles was puzzled. Was it because he didn't go home last night?
"I'm sorry, Mother. I fell asleep in the hospital. I didn't notice the time." Charles didn't tell Melissa that he
had been drugged for he didn't want her to worry.
"Was it really just that? Or are you already that serious about this woman? Charles, are you sure you
want to be with that woman?" For the life of her, Melissa couldn't understand why Charles would want
to be with Vicky.
"Mother, what are you talking about? I love only Sheryl. Anyway, I have to go. I'm going to work."
Charles immediately felt annoyed at the mere mention of Vicky.
Before Melissa could respond, Charles had already hung up.
He didn't know that Vicky had done the same this morning. Melissa was having difficulty breathing now.
"My Lady, are you okay?" Nancy found that after that call, Melissa was shaky, and she was covering
her chest with both of her hands. It seemed like something was happening.
Melissa slowly sat on the couch and gestured to show Nancy that she was fine.
After a while, Melissa finally felt better. She took deep breaths and then she said, "Nancy, I'm fine. Go
back to work."
"Okay, my Lady, I'm going to work now. Just tell me if you feel any worse." Nancy just wanted Melissa
to be okay, especially when Charles wasn't home.
Melissa sat on the couch, deep in thought. She realized she couldn't wait anymore—she needed to see
Sheryl.
"Nancy, I'm going out." Melissa thought Charles would worry if she went out without telling anyone, so
she made sure to tell Nancy.
"Okay, my Lady." Nancy ran out of the kitchen in a hurry.
But when she came out, Melissa had already left.
Nancy watched as Melissa got in the car. Then she went back to the kitchen to work.
Melissa didn't know where Sheryl lived. She hadn't really cared before, and now she didn't want to ask
as it was slightly awkward to do so. She decided to go to Cloud Advertising Company instead.
In Cloud Advertising Company
As soon as Sheryl entered her office, the first thing she found were the fresh flowers.
Upon noticing Sheryl had arrived, Phoebe followed her to her office. She knocked on the door lightly,
holding a cup of coffee in her hand.
"Come in. Who are the flowers from?"
"Ms. Xia, they were sent to you, but I don't know who they came from." Phoebe beamed.
"I see. All right, go back to work."
Sheryl didn't press further. She smiled knowingly upon checking the card. 'It's him, ' she thought to
herself.
The card was from Jackson, wishing Sheryl happiness every day.
Phoebe had no idea who Jackson was.
Cloud Advertising Company had just forged a new partnership, and Jackson was the partner's
representative. Likewise, he was also in charge of the project.
Sheryl had only met Jackson twice, and he didn't really stand out to her or anything.
She took a sip of her coffee and stared at the roses blankly. She remembered that the last time she
received roses, they were from Charles. It was so long ago that she couldn't even remember why
Charles had given her roses in the first place.
When Isla arrived at work, she looked like a zombie. If it hadn't been for an important meeting that she
had today, she wouldn't have come to work.
Isla casually pushed Sheryl's door open and walked to the office table with her eyes closed. She sat
across Sheryl, her eyes still closed.
"Sher, I'm so sleepy. When will the meeting start?" Isla's voice was lifeless—just like her face.
