Chapter 1770 Admire
Chapter 1770 Admire
"Aunt Melissa, Charles still doesn't want to be with me. What should I do?" Leila said tearfully.
Melissa hadn't thought that things would turn out this way. She had carefully laid out her plan and
executed it so that Charles and Leila would grow closer, but why did the opposite seem to be
happening instead?
"Leila, what on earth happened? Just tell me. It's okay," Melissa anxiously asked.
For a few moments, Leila was silent before finally deciding to tell Melissa everything.
Upon hearing the story, Melissa grew angry. "Are you saying that Sheryl's assistant took your gift for
me?"
"Yeah, it was a limited edition. They only had a few pieces around the world, and I finally found it for
you. Phoebe took it, and Charles let her because of Sheryl. It's my fault, though. If I had gotten Charles
to fall in love with me, then he'd already have forgotten Sheryl," Leila said, her voice riddled with guilt.
Melissa rolled her eyes at the mention of Sheryl. She pounded on the table with her fists with a
murderous look on her face. "I have to take Sheryl down; or, Charles and I will never live in peace."
"Aunt Melissa, I know but it seems as if we have no choice. Charles just can't let her go. What can we
do? I'm so disappointed in myself. I wasn't able to win Charles' love. That's why I've decided that I can't
stay here anymore. Listen to me, Aunt Melissa, you have to look after yourself when I leave, okay?"
Leila said desperately as tears streamed down her face.
"Leila, what's wrong with you? Why do you want to leave?" Melissa knew that Leila was heartbroken.
Otherwise, she wouldn't volunteer to leave just like that. Melissa nervously grabbed her hand.
"Aunt Melissa, I'm fine. I just think I have pushed this far enough. Charles obviously doesn't care about
me that way. There's no reason for me to be here. I think I should just leave."
Since Charles returned, Leila had been trying to figure out a way to get Charles to divorce Sheryl. She Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
finally got fed up today.
"No, you can't leave. Sheryl and Charles are getting divorced soon. Just wait this out. I'm on your side.
What are you afraid of?" Melissa said unhappily.
Even though she knew how much Leila was hurting, she still didn't want Leila to give up that easily.
"Aunt Melissa, it's not that I want to give up. Charles doesn't like me. What can I do?"
Leila sobbed as she spoke. The anger on Melissa's face was replaced with pity. She held Leila's hand
and sighed. "Leila, feelings change over time. If you stay by Charles' side, his heart will soften for you.
Don't worry about Sheryl anymore. I'll handle it. As long as I'm here, she's never coming back. Just wait
for Charles and Sheryl's divorce to be official,"
Melissa said in one breath. She'd already said all of this before, but it still calmed Leila down.
Leila was, in fact, just acting to get Melissa to hate Sheryl even more, and she was successful. She
knew when to stop, and this was it.
"Hmm, Aunt Melissa. I see." Leila nodded obediently and forced a smile at Melissa.
Knowing that Leila took her words to heart, Melissa nodded in satisfaction.
Leila didn't talk about Sheryl anymore and instead stirred to the conversation elsewhere. She sighed.
"Aunt Melissa, guess what? Holley's pregnant!"
"What? That woman is pregnant?" Disbelief was written all over Melissa's face.
Leila nodded helplessly and then answered, "Yes, today she called me to tell me. I couldn't help but
feel jealous as she talked about the baby."
Hardly feeling any better than Leila, Melissa responded with disappointment in her eyes, "I know what
you mean. I want to have a grandson too."
Seeing Melissa's expression, Leila knew that she missed Clark and Shirley. Although Leila was
unhappy, she hid this.
Leila didn't know why Holley was showing off about getting pregnant before marriage as if she couldn't
get pregnant too.
Upon thinking this, Leila grew furious. Holley was going to have a baby and would probably use that to
marry into the Hu Family sooner or later. What about her? She'd never even slept with Charles, much
less getting pregnant with his baby.
"Aunt Melissa, do you miss the two kids?" Leila asked in concern.
"If you didn't mention them, I wouldn't miss them because they're not really close to me. They're very
close to their mother, but I wish I had a grandson who was close to me."
It was not that Melissa didn't like Clark and Shirley, but because of her relationship with Sheryl, the two
kids didn't get along with her. She couldn't help but wish that Leila had a baby with Charles, so she
could have a grandchild that she could get close to.
"Leila, come on. I need you to get pregnant with Charles' baby. Please?" Melissa looked at Leila,
smiling.
Leila lowered her head shyly upon hearing this.
"What? Don't be shy. I'm waiting," Melissa said seriously. When she saw the look on Leila's face, she
couldn't help but chuckle.
Leila nodded. Then they went upstairs to continue their conversation.
Nancy watched everything from the kitchen, a scowl on her face.
When Melissa and Leila were talking in the living room, they were speaking so loudly that Nancy could
hear everything from the kitchen. As she watched the two of them head upstairs, she couldn't help but
sigh and shake her head in disapproval.
'Sher, can't you just get back together with Charles already?'
Nancy could do nothing. She felt upset at the thought of Charles and Sheryl being purposely separated
by Leila and Melissa.
Finally, she shook off these thoughts so she could focus on cleaning the kitchen.
Melissa and Leila continued to chat until they finally decided to call it a night at around 10.
