Chapter 187
Chapter 187
Max laughed and glared at his elder brother. “That would not happen.”
If he were to choose between the pendant and Aurora, he would choose Aurora without blinking his eyes.
Cal angrily followed him back to Aurora’s room as Max knocked on the door, frozen as he watched his heart stolen once more.
Aurora had sleepily walked to the door with her hair down and no glasses on. Though in pants pajamas, she could pass for a model promoting it.
This was the first time Alpha Cal saw her without her hair being held in a bun and was equally stunned, though her hair was really messy.
“What?” She asked in a raspy voice, as if she had been sleep–walking. Max’s hand shook as he held the gift bag in front of her.
“I brought this for you,” he said, wishing he could enter her room and lay beside her on the bed, just staring at her beauty.
At this point, he was afraid that someone would come to steal her away by the time they woke.
“Thanks,” Aurora said and closed the door to both their faces before lying down on the bed and drifting to sleep instantly.
When she woke up the next day to see the gift box on the bed, she could not remember where it came from.
She opened it to see a stunning diamond bracelet, reminding her of her emerald bracelet from infancy. After removing it, this was the first time she wore a bracelet.
Liking it, she did not take it off even in the shower. She remembered that Cal’s look–alike brother had come to greet her last night. Could the bracelet be from him?
She was not through with her shower when she heard a knock on the door. Knowing the person would not hear her even if she yelled, she did not respond, but when she was done, she was shocked by who was sitting on her bed.
“Asena, what do you want here?” Aurora asked, not looking pleased. She was just in a towel, and this was the first time anyone except Linda or the maids entered her room.
It was funny how she cleaned Alpha Calhoun’s room, whereas he always instructed the maids to clean hers with the excuse that Aurora was busy.
Asena was dressed in jeans and a blazer as she stood up and stared at Aurora.
This was the first time she saw Aurora without her glasses and hair held up, feeling intimidated by her beauty. Any man would fall for her charm.
“I came to make you an offer.”
Aurora had a feeling that she met Asena before but could not remember where. However, one thing remained, and that was the fact that she did not like Asena.
“Impossible. Get out.”
“Don’t you wanna hear it?” Asena asked with a provoking smile. Aurora knew it wouldn’t be good.
“No, just leave,” Aurora said seriously as she walked to the closet and came out dressed but surprised to see that Asena was still there.
“You are in love with Cal. I can see it in your eyes.”
Aurora wanted to dry her hair but was suddenly annoyed, so she wrapped it in a messy bun. She was honest with her feelings. “I never denied it.”
Asena was angrier. If Aurora was in love with Alpha Cal, then she feared losing him. “And have you told him?” She asked, wondering exactly what they shared.
Remembering that Cal had refused to break up with Asena when she said it, Aurora shrugged. She was just waiting for him to coronate or mark Asena.
That would be her cue to leave after spending almost two fruitless years over here. “That isn’t your business,” she responded curtly. Asena was boiling with rage, her face crimsoning.
“Aurora or whatever you call yourself. If you want to survive in this pack, then stay away from Cal and Max, or you will regret it.”
Aurora suddenly laughed. It was understandable to stay away from Cal but not Max. “Max too? Are you in love with both brothers?” She taunted, and Asena felt irritated.
“I am the soon–to–be Luna of this pack, but you are nothing. Max is back to being the beta, so take this money and leave, or you won’t know what’s coming.”

She held out bundles of dollar notes, making Aurora laugh. Money was nothing to her, but her laughter caused Asena to burn from hurt.
Aurora could tell that her only source of confidence was from her mother, thereby angering her from that angle.
“I’m not scared of your so–called sorcerer mommy baby. Bring it on.”
Aurora picked up her glasses and wore them when she saw a quick moment.
Asena was about to slap Aurora, but the latter held her hand and slapped her hard. Asena screamed, remembering the little girl who slapped her before.
Aurora was about to release another slap when the door pushed open. “Asena,” Alpha Cal exclaimed. “What are you doing here?” he asked, having thought Aurora was screaming from some kind of danger, which drew his attention.
Asena put on a pitiful expression. “Cal, I was going to the hospital and passed by to ask her to be my friend. She slapped me instead.”
Alpha Calhoun was confused as Aurora showed no remorse and neither was she eager to explain the situation.
“Is it true?” He asked Aurora, her heart ached that he did not trust her and asked the question, but before she could respond, the door opened, and somebody else did.
“Of course it’s not true.” It was Max, and when he saw the bracelet on her wrist, he was elated.
“It looks good on you.”
With his gaze on the bracelet, Aurora knew it was from him. “Are you the one who left it here?”
Max chuckled, understanding that she was sleepwalking last night. “You were indeed sleepwalking, but you actually met me at the door. He was here too,” he pointed at Cal, and Asena was getting confused.
What were the two brothers doing in Aurora’s room at night, and how could Max buy her such an expensive bracelet? Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
When he said he got a gift for Aurora, Asena had no idea it was something so precious.
“Sorry, but it’s too expensive. Stop wasting money,” Aurora was removing the bracelet when Max stopped her, his gaze burning into hers.
“I hadn’t even met you when I bought it. Please keep it where it is.” He rubbed the back of her hand, and Aurora felt strange and quickly pulled her hand away.
“Okay. Thanks. I will go make breakfast since there’s no training today.”
“I’ll help you,” Max quickly said, but Alpha Cal had not forgotten what brought him in and asked before she and Max reached the door.
“Asena, what happened?”
“It’s just as I said. She slapped me,” Asena said seriously, and Alpha Cal stared at Aurora. She smiled bitterly and said to Asena.
“Remember to pick up the papers you brought me when you decide to leave my room.” She left instantly, but Max lingered a little. Seeing the money scattered on the floor, he had a deep understanding of what transpired.
Alpha Calhoun realized it too but could not expose her, so he said. “We don’t have proof, so you go to the hospital first. I will come later.”
Asena was not comfortable with leaving him alone with Aurora, even though Max was there.
“Cal, please. It’s my first day, so you have to come,” Asena was saying, but Cal already escorted her to the door and got a driver for her. This was becoming too much, and Asena finally settled on what to do.
Alpha Cal was going back to his room but saw no one in the kitchen. Strangely, he heard the sound of laughter coming from the Luna’s chamber. Both voices sounded familiar, and when he opened the door, his gaze darkened dangerously.
