Chapter 41: Intruders  

Peter's POV:

The four of us decided to split up to look for Tessa and Serena.It was quite strange that fog had appeared today, since the weather was predicted to be clear.Nate kept his nose on high alert for Molly's scent.

He caught a whiff of Molly's scent and followed it until it grew stronger.

Suddenly, the scent of blood also filled his nose.

My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest.No, please...

"Serena is fine.She is fine,"

"Get your hands off of her, you bastard!" Alvin roared from a distance, and I heard the sound of punching and kicking.

I ran in Alvin's direction.

Serena and Tessa finally came into sight, but they were lying on the ground.

I immediately came to Serena's side and scooped her up.

She groaned in pain and slowly opened her eyes to look at me.

"I won, Pet."

She coughed before falling back into unconsciousness.

"Serena, you did a good job.I'm so sorry we couldn't find you sooner."

I suddenly noticed about eight corpses lying around us.My sense of smell told me that they weren't werewolves at all.They all had a smell of blood that made me want to throw up.

"Alvin, how's Tessa? Is she okay?"

"She's still breathing.We need to go back immediately.Soon, David and Anita arrived, too.

"Alpha, Beta, I checked on the bodies.No one is alive.They're all dead now." David stood among the corpses.

"Alpha, Beta, you both go ahead and take the girls to the hospital.I will arrange for someone to deal with these bodies.After that, I'll wait for your further instruction." I admired Anita for keeping a level head during critical situations.

She knew just what to say.As soon as we arrived at the hospital of the pack, Serena and Tessa were immediately taken in for emergency treatment.

"Don't worry, Alpha, Beta.They're going to be okay.It looks like Luna just fainted from exhaustion.Tessa suffered some more serious injuries, but they have all been treated already."

The doctor recommended that Tessa and Serena be confined for the night.Once my parents and the elders heard about the news, they immediately rushed over.Anita and David followed as well.

"How did this happen? And on the day of the Luna Ceremony itself! Whoever was behind this didn't seem to respect our traditional event at all!" Steve said, burning with anger.

"Anita, what information do you have on the bodies?"

"They were all wizards." A collective gasp came from everyone in the room.

Wizards again?

Serena's POV:

When we all transformed into wolves and ran together, I was exhilarated.

It was my first time to run with the pack, and I was so impressed that I was taking the lead.

Speed was my natural advantage.

Tessa was the only one who was able to catch up to me, and we raced each other for fun.

But the next moment, the whole mountain was suddenly covered in fog.

We got lost from the pack.

Tessa and I decided to go back and look for Peter, but all of a sudden I heard a voice.

"Our teacher ordered us to catch that white wolf, leading the run.Henry said that she was a werewolf- vampire hybrid." A creepy voice came from the fog.

Hearing Henry's name made the hair on my arms stand.

They were wizards! I needed to get closer so that I could read their minds, so Tessa and I hid behind a tree.

I transformed back into my human form and wrapped myself in a robe.

But Tessa remained in her wolf form just in case.

Their thoughts poured into my mind.

It turned out that Henry told his teacher that I was a hybrid, and now Alexander sent these wizards to capture me.

"Oh, look she's hiding right here. Ha!"

Shit, we'd been discovered.Soon, I found myself surrounded by several wizards.Immediately, Tessa rushed to my side.Around six wizards surrounded her, too.

All were big, burly men.It was not a fair fight.Tessa was in danger.

I had to protect her! I had a little practice with controlling things with my mind beforehand.I usually failed, but it wasn't like I had any other option.

Raising my hands in front of me, I focused my energy and thought of controlling the wizards.Suddenly, something that felt like invisible ropes now connected my hands to one of the wizards.

He was now under my control.

"Ah! What's going on?!"

I raised my hands higher, and the wizard became suspended in air, sending him inpanic.I raised him all the way as high as the treetops before throwing him down violently to the ground.

His body fell limp on the ground with a thud.

The other wizards then looked at me with a mix of fear and confusion.

Quickly, they surrounded me this time.

But they had already hurt Tessa.

With the last of her strength, she ran to my side just on time before fainting.

"We need to gang up on her.This bitch has powers."

All the wizards waved their wands in my direction.

I roared with all my might and willed the rest of the wizards to also get suspended in the air.

It felt like lifting a huge boulder with my hands.

But I knew that I had to lift them higher off the ground, so that their fall would kill them.

However, my vision was starting to turn black.

I was about to faint, but I couldn't pass out before finishing this or else Tessa and I would get killed.

With all that was left of my strength, I lifted them high above the treetops before pulling them down at a deadly speed.

They hit the ground like sharp arrows, immediately falling lifeless the next second.

I, too, collapsed to the ground.

Moments before I passed out, I vaguely heard Peter call my name.By the time I opened my eyes again, I was already in a hospital bed.

"How is Tessa now?"

"She's in the next room.Alvin is staying there with her, "

Peter got up and immediately poured me a glass of water.

After downing a glass of water for my parched throat, I finally told Peter everything I had heard.

"So, with your super powers, you were able to defend yourself against all those wizards?"

"Yes," I nodded.

"But I still can't control it that well."

"And you mentioned Alexander?"

"Yes, it seemed that their target was me.Henry went back to Alexander and told him that I was a hybrid.Now, Alexander wants me captured, too." Peter frowned.

"Clearly, someone from the Maple House is plotting against you.That night, we found the guards with Kate, and they all passed out from drinking too much.Someone must have stolen the key from the guards and let Henry go on purpose."

"Do you think Kate could be the one? You know how much she hates that I'm Luna."

"For now, Kate is a suspect, but she keeps saying that she only drank with the guards to drown her sorrows.She was drunk the whole night and knew nothing.We have no other evidence to convict her.It could still be someone else.After all, she is not the only one who is hostile to you in the pack."

"Let's interrogate her later.I can read her mind to see what really happened.Then, we'll know whether or not she really is the mastermind behind all of this."
