I Have A Plan
In the following days I made a lot of effort to be close to Mercedes.
She refused to attend the diners in the packhouse after the first fiasco. Her father had a serious conversation with mine about this. The Beta eventually convinced him that it was better not to force Mercedes into something she was not really interested in. By then, I knew I had to change my plan to get close to her again before the Alpha returned.
I started paying more attention to her, completely abandoning my homeboys. I explained that I would not be able to deal with them for a while because I wanted to win Mercedes for myself. Of course, I knew they wouldn’t keep this information to themselves, and the whole pack would soon realize I’d got my eyes on the Beta’s daughter.
So, I started to compliment Mercedes in front of third parties and treat her as if she was someone special to me during the joint classes. She mostly ignores me all the time and only responds to my pushiness when there is no way out. But I’m not giving up.
I have already informed the owner of the cafeteria that Mercedes is no longer paying for her food and those costs should be automatically transferred to my account. The first time she was told her lunch was free from that day on, she immediately passed it to Clarita. Mercedes, smart as always, instantly knew what was going on.
Over the next few days, she entered the canteen with her own lunch and shared it with her friends, who were of course, overjoyed at the treat. And when I sat down next to her a few days ago, she moved to sit with her besties, an implicit statement that she doesn’t feel like my company. So, now I sit across from her and enjoy watching the beauty at the table.
In the meantime, the pack members have realized that I am seriously interested in Mercedes. The curious comments and concerned frowns don’t go unnoticed, but I overlook them. I am the future Alpha of this pack and am capable of a lot.
But today I noticed a change in her. When I entered the schoolyard, I saw her sitting lonely on one of the benches under a tree. It is clear that she is grieving and has deliberately isolated herself. Usually, she has some friends around when she’s at school, so there must be something serious going on here. Maybe the Alpha messed up and this was my chance to approach her. I can give her a shoulder to cry on and then we’ll see what happens next.
I step over to her, all concerned.
“Mercedes, is something wrong? You look so sad. You know you can tell me anything, I offer a listening ear”, I voiced softly as I sit down beside her. She cringes for a moment but luckily doesn’t leave.
“Alpha”, she said without looking up and continues to be silent. I try to hold her thigh, but she quickly pulls away.
“You can cry on my shoulder as long as you like, if that will make you feel better, Mercedes,” I urged her. “Sometimes crying is better than holding back.”
Wrong approach, I sense immediately. Mercedes quickly gets up and grabs her bag.
“Alpha, thanks for your gesture but I can handle everything myself,” she claimed, turning around and walking away. I rush behind her and walk beside her to the school building. We enter the hallways in silence. In the following two lessons, we will take Science together. Even before Clarita got the chance to sit down next to her, I occupied the seat.
I hear Mercedes sigh deeply, but she keeps hushed. For the passing hours, she doesn’t say a word to me, the sad expression on her face doesn’t budge. Finally, when the end of class bell rings, she packs up and turns to Clarita.
“Like to have a hot coffee at the club around the corner?” she proposed to her friend.
Hesitantly with her eyes on me, Clarita agrees and they walk out of the classroom. I grit my teeth, Mercedes seems determined to have nothing to do with me. This is untenable.
I must speak to her separately and let her know my feelings.
Maybe she’ll fall for me when she knows I adore her and offer her a splendid future.
It’s the weekend tomorrow and she’s usually in her mate’s pack. But my intelligence services were able to delay Zane during the meeting he attends outside his pack, he is staying two more days.
There is my best chance. Mercedes avoided me for the past few weeks, but I am stepping up my game to cash in those two days. I take my phone out of my pocket. ”Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
John. I need your help”, I told my future Gamma.
When I discussed my plan with him in detail, I ended the conversation satisfactorily.
“You miscalculate me, Mercedes. Check out what I’m capable of”, I murmured to myself. I turn to stroll to my lockers but bump into Saphira. She’s my best friend, who I usually hang out with when I need female company. The pack expected me to eventually make her my chosen mate, now that I can’t find my fated. But since my attention has turned to Mercedes for the last few weeks, many have become confused.
“Hi”, I greeted her softly, placing a hand over her shoulder. She automatically moves closer to me. She too, failed to find her fated and is restless.
“What is it with you and Mercedes?” she asked curiously. “I worry about you. You know Mercedes is out of your reach. She is crazy about Alpha Zane. You’re fishing in choppy waters, Glary,” she chides me. I smile mysteriously. I am not yet ready to confide in her, but I know she is the best place to go with my worries.
“The hunt is on as long as the loot isn’t in, Saphira”, I told her confidently. “Mercedes is ours, Zane is an outsider. Only the strongest survive.” She is clearly shocked by my statement and stands in front of me with both hands on her hips.
“Glary, is going after someone else’s mate worth so much more that you’re ready to provoke a war between packs? You know that your actions can have far-reaching consequences?” she warned me before I push her towards the classroom, where our Math teacher is already present.
I have great difficulty keeping my head on the line for the next hour. If my plan works out well, I’ll hold Mercedes in my arms tonight itself.
I can not wait…
