Chapter 234 Vampire Interrupted
There is absolute terror as I watch a group of Vampires descend on the very group of girls that are making their way down the alley. Now, normally I would back down and find another victim for the night, but these are not just your average Vampire. We have, by strange luck, stumbled across the Bloodlusters that we are trying to find.
But there is the very possibility that they have been following us, which would make this situation far more scarier than it is at the moment. And what else scares the living life from me is that Roberto and Damien have just reached the brink of being in their way should they, in fact, be here to do the very same thing that we were doing.
Though as I watch them approach Damien that is standing his ground firm, I can safely say that they are not here for the humans.
They have come for us, and we have given them the perfect opportunity to catch us without the rest of the Hunters.
So not wanting to waste another minute and put the lives of my brothers in danger, I make a rather hastily sprint towards where they are not closing that gap between themselves and Damien.
Now there is no way that I am going to disrespect the man and tell him to fall back. So instead, I glance over my shoulder to Cassidy as she tries to give the name of the street that we find ourselves heading down.
After briefly cursing and trying to gain her composure, she walks up to me with a very trembling voice that speaks underneath the breath that she lacks, “They are on their way, Lucas.”
“How long? How long are they going to be?”
She looks at me and only but shakes her head, “Sorry,” and with that she drops her head to the floor, “Sorry, I did not ask.”
I only but lay my hand gently on her shoulder and lift her head to meet my gaze, “It is fine my beloved, I am sure they will be here shortly. Now are you up to fight?” With that I seek the depths of her eyes to find the weakness that hinds behind them. “My beloved, you are too tired. You will have to sit this one out.”Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“No,” her voice echoes beyond her control as she grabs onto my hand that is rest on her chin, “I am not going to sit this out.”
“But my beloved, these Vampires are far stronger than what you are. I am afraid that they will overpower you rather quicker than you can think to reflex.”
Yet she is determined to make her best effort as she pushes my hands away from her shoulder and make her way very confident to where the Bloodlusters are now staring Roberto and Damien down.
The battle is imminent.
Where the fuck is Dean?
That thought does not even set course through my mind, and I watch as a car spins into to alley with such a great speed that the back nearly hits a green dumpster that is close to the entrance of the club that we only but a moment ago passed in complete silence.
But silence is not what echoes through this alley as the Impala comes speeding towards me with utmost urgency, and in with mere inches away from where I stand, Dean brings the car to a screeching halt.
Not even a second later, all four doors swing wide open, and the rest of the Hunters come rushing towards me with what seems to be a renewed lease on what we have to accomplish within the next few minutes.
And as Dean comes to a dead stand next to me, he only but nods, “I hope that you guys are ready for this?”
“No, my dear friend, my Vampires have not fed, and Cassidy is particularly weaker than the rest of us.”
My words are not yet spread out in the length of the alley, and Jacob is pushing past Sam to make his way to where Cassidy has caught up with Roberto and Damien.
Then next to me, I have a rather concerned Dean staring at me, “You are sure damn slow when you hunt.”
“This is not my City; I did not want to take the chance and cause havoc on our brief stay here. Now I shall be fine, but if I for one moment let Cassidy out of my sight, please make sure that she is doing fine.”
With only a nod in agreement, we arm ourselves with the only weapon that we can use out here in the open of the City. With steps that we wish not to alarm the Bloodlusters, we join the rest of the group.
But something does not appear to be right as we reach the bottom of the alley. It seems that the Bloodlusters are only taunting and provoking Damien and Roberto that are readying themselves to strike at the go-ahead from Dean and me.
So not worrying for the novelties of even engaging in a senseless conversation with a Vampire that is only going to snap his fangs at our presence, I raise my voice just a fraction louder, “Take them out. These fuckers have now ruined both my reason for coming here and my intention to feed.”
And in less than the count of three, all chaos breaks loose.
One…
Two…
Three.
With the swing of an Angel blade from the wrist of each man and woman, it hits with perfect precision in the center of a Bloodluster’s chest, bringing him crashing to the floor in a grey haze of dust.
But they are pushing us with each step closer to the center of the alley where we had come from only moments ago. Step by step, backward without tripping over the trash that is scattered, we move away from the imminent possibility of being taken over at any second.
Then to my horror, as I glance over to my side, only taking my eyes off the Bloodluster in front of me for a moment, I see as Cassidy’s heel gets caught in the cracked tar.
And then…
With absolute terror shooting through me, not being able to move fast enough, she drops to the floor and crashes down on the feet of a Bloodluster. In the blink of an eye, I watch as he scoops her from the floor and spins around, taking Cassidy with him as he breaks away and makes a run for it in the opposite direction.
“Cassidy!”
My desperate screams vibrate against the windows of the buildings and echo through the chill air of the night.
“Cassidy!”
Trying to push forward, but there are far too many Bloodlusters to get through to the other side, where I can see the eager Vampire makes its way off in the distance.
“Cassidy!”
My, please fall dead as I keep smashing into one Bloodluster than the other. There is no way of getting through this wall of Vampires as they stand their ground firm, and with their continued pushing of us back in the center, there is no way that I am getting past this wall of monsters to save Cassidy from her fate.
But then I have Jacob standing next to me as he smashes his dagger into each Bloodluster that tries to reach out for him. In breaths as stuttering as those of my very own, he speaks, “Lucas, we can do this. I will push forward, and you keep your back to mine. We will be able to get our way through.”
And just as I am about to tell him that he is crazy, I hear the terrifying screams of Cassidy as they come from the empty parking lot up ahead.
“Let us do this.”
With Jacob driving his body into the wall, he breaches the strength of the Vampires that are trying their utmost to keep us at bay.
One foot forward while I step one back.
BANG
One…
Two…
Three…
Crashing into a force so great that on any day it would be impossible to penetrate, Jacob slams and stabs each dust cloud after the other.
Left…
Right…
My wrist flicks skillfully, making the desired impact that is required to bring the Vampires to their final fate.
Then with one last giant leap forward and back, we make our way through the wall with only the emptiness of the parking lot in sight.
Not wasting yet another second, we race off into the direction where the Bloodluster had taken Cassidy. Being near unable to guess which direction he has taken her in, I pick up her scent.
But…
“She is bleeding.”
As I say these very words, I watch as there is a fear that is creeping over Jacob’s face, “Lucas, where is she?”
But…
As the rain comes crashing down again and hits the tar with such great force that it sprays up again, only creating a mess of the surface that was once very promising, but now…
“I cannot pick up her scent.”
