The Alpha Vampire

Chapter 229 The Wrong Attire For A Battle

As I spin on my heel to back into the direction that we have just come from, my heart feels a suffocating grip as I see Cassidy slumped over on the floor. With the echo of my screams traveling to the corners of the parking lot, I race towards where her body is lying motionless. In near lightning speed, I lift her from the filth that she is lying in, only to hear her curse underneath her breath.

“Lucas put me down!”

“My beloved, I thought you were… You were… What are you doing on the floor?”

“My shoe got stuck in a hole.”

I cannot help but chuckle at her as she examines the damage to her red stiletto, “My beloved, perhaps you should not wear…”

She glares at me from underneath her eyelashes, “Perhaps you should not finish that sentence. Now, if you don’t mind, I think I can walk on my own.”

“Well, judging by that heel, I seem to disagree.”

“Lucas.”

“Yes, my beloved, I shall refrain from making any further comments about your lack of choosing the correct attire when we are on a hunt.”

Well, now if I thought that she would see the humor, I am sadly mistaken for next I have the flat of her hand making direct contact with the back of my head. And of course, the rest of the group that is looking on in amusement cannot help but laugh.

But it is Dean that snaps everyone out of the moment, “Best you get that stiletto on so that we can move forward.”

With that, the mood drops down to a level below being completely terrified of what we are about to face.

As we take each step to what seems to be a little deserted store just around the corner of the parking lot, I can clearly sense the presence of a handful of Vampires, but by the smell of blood that is lying thick in the air, I can safely say that we have stumbled across the location of the Were-Vamps. But there is something troubling about the situation; there should be far more of them, which does give me the idea that we can expect an ambush at any given moment.

So whispering underneath my breath to Dean, “They are up ahead, but I fear that it is not all of them.”

Dean looks at the group and sizes up our options; then, as he glances over his shoulder at the entrance of the shop, he turns to Sam, “You, Roberto, Cass, and Cassidy, wait outside and see if anybody else comes.”

Well, this is where I immediately object, “Cassidy is coming with us.”

He only but shakes his head, “You cannot keep your paws off your wife, not even to mention your eyes off her ass. Now she will be safe here with Cas.”

And with that, I take my position next to our dear Vampire Hunter, “Well, it seems that it is you and me, my dear friend.”

He only but swallows rather nervously, “Don’t you want to team up with Damien instead?”

“Someone needs to look after you, and I need to keep an eye on you,” And as I say this, I expose one nail of my claw and smile back at him, “I need to keep an eye on you so that you keep your little eyes of my wife.”

With that, he only but hops two steps away from me and goes to stand next to Damien that is finding all of this rather amusing. But one that does not is Dean that is standing and shaking his head at me again, “Are you going to be a problem?”

“No, my dear friend,” then I slip my Angel blade firm in my hand. “I am ready, so let us get this over with.”

So we all arm ourselves with a range of rather impressive weapons, Angel blades for both Dean, Sam, Cas, and me, the Colt tightly tucked in the back of my pants and one in the hands of Dean along with Damien, Roberto, Cassidy and Jacob with their silver blades.

Sneaking up against the wall at a pace slower than an average step, we crawl in anticipation towards the entrance. In the pitch of the night, barely able for a mortal to see but one that comes with ease for a Vampire, we make our way up to the door in little less than a minute or two.

Then…

Softly opening the door…

Step by step…

Pulling at the steel handle…

Until…

The door chimes open… Announcing our presence if it has not already been sensed.

As we step through the door, I can feel the fear lying thick in the air, but that is not the only thing that is present.

From the back, there come the screams of a woman at a pitch so high that one knows in an instant that she is in pain or that she is about to face her death.

With a few hand signals, Dean shows for Jacob and me to make our way past him and Damien to where the screams are coming from. So taking a position in front of Jacob to protect him from any imminent danger, we walk hunched against the wall towards what I am going to assume must be a storeroom.

One foot in front of the other…

Step by step…

Breath by each agonizing breath…

We make the way at a snail’s pace…

With Jacob right on my back…

We finally come to a red door that leads into a storeroom. With the count of one… two… three… I nod at Jacob and show for him that we are going to enter.

And it is in the instant of a second that I push the door wide open, only to come to face with a snarling Were-Vamp that has his teeth snapping at my hand. Then from out of complete nowhere, there is another that comes leaping over him right towards the face of the Vampire Hunter that is caught completely off guard as he tries to reach for the woman to get her out of harm’s way.

With the flick of my wrist, I twist the blade… One… two… three times and slam it into the chest of the Were-Vamp, grabbling but missing the arm of the Vampire Hunter by only a few inches from being ripped from his body.

Then as the mut drops to the floor, there is another that comes at an incredible speed towards me. With only a scuffle of the feet to the left, it swings past me on the right, straight into the blade of Dean that has now taken his position behind me while Jacob is still trying to talk sense into the woman to get out of the way and into safety.

Then…

In an instant…

Chaos breaks loose…

There is a group of four Were-Vamps that appears from the back of the shop. With my eyes focussed on the inside of the storeroom, they are coming up with a slow, ominous pace.

Taunting…

Teasing…

Playing…

We are considered as being their next meal for the night.

And as I take my eyes off the inside of the storeroom, there comes a Were-Vamp crashing into the side of me just as Jacob has the woman by the hand and taking her to the entrance. The impact knocks me right on the side, pushing me at least four steps to the left and crashing my body into an empty shelf.

The shelf goes crashing to the floor but with me still standing firm on both feet.

I should be on the floor.

Why have I not dropped?

Not something to ponder about at this present, as I launch from my feet and crash my full body into the Were-Vamp that is standing with his teeth, snapping at the anticipation of sinking his jaws into me. Yet, I am far too fast. The moment that I make an impact, I draw back on my feet and retrieve the Angel blade that has dropped to the floor.

In an instant, as I snap it back into my hand, I hold it firmly at the center of its heart and in one… two… three… I spin it through the air, watching how it travels at an incredible speed and knocking the Were-Vamp straight into the chest. I can hear the agony of the animal as the sharp tip pierces through his skin and cracks through the bone, bringing him to his instant death.

With one leap forward and eyes remaining to my left at the group that is still making their way towards us, I grab the blade just as the Were-Vamp turns into a pile of nothing but dust.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Well, that is one that I have never seen before, yet this is not time to think about one Victory that we have claimed, for we have just discovered that there is, in fact, a back door, and they are now starting to stream in…

But…

Then for the second time tonight, I hear the thing I fear the most…

Cassidy’s screams fill the air…

In a mere swing of the feet, I watch as they are being overpowered and at least a group of nine comes pushing through the front door, and another two make their appearance as they come crashing through the windows.

I look at Dean with concern that matches his very face, “We seem to be a slight bit outnumbered.”
