The Alpha Chose Me

Chapter 395

I had no doubt that I was just interested in learning what had occurred, how these things had transpired, and how to handle the situation in the event that it went awry.

“We're patrolling the first few hours on foot tonight". It was Rocco who spoke.

On the whole journey into the forest, he had maintained his silence.

"Foot?". A face was created by Alanna. "That makes no sense and-...". It was a pause. "Right so we'll shift around 4?” .

I was aware that this was due to my role. I had been aware of the fact that we patrolled in the shape of wolves. The only reason they could possibly patrol on foot is for my advantage; what other motivations could they possibly have? "We're only making sure the perimeter is safe and there are no signs of intruders".

"Does that happen often?". I inquired of Rocco.

"More than you think but it only ever turns out to be wild animals".

"It's not always wild animals Rocco". Alanna gave a sneer. "I mean you breached us".

I see.

"Yeah, and now my family is safe". He gazed back at me.

"I'm just saying it's not always wild animals".

"Alanna is right". It was a sigh. People give it a go, but it never seems to come to them very often. The majority of the time, once they discover that the area is private, they walk on. "Usually?". I did a frown.

"Are you going to question everything?". He inquired about it.

"I apologize, but I just want to find out as much as I possibly can. It is not my intention to be a nuisance.

While running his hand through his hair, he let out a sigh that escaped his mouth. "No, I'm sorry it's just been a long couple of nights".

"Are you always night patrol?".

He indicated with a nod.

"Why don't you ask to change?".

A "Hey". A pause was made by Alanna. "If he changes then that means we'll have to do it more often or more so me".

"And?". I acted out a face. It was necessary for her to study how to control her tongue. The fact that Rocco was required to do it on a consistent basis was totally unfair.

"I prefer it". It was him who spoke. "But yeah, I could use a change".

"You've been on it since you joined us, haven't you?".

To put it simply, I do not want you to do me any favors, Leah. No matter what I have to do, I don't care. Wherever the Alpha directs me to go, I go. "See he prefers it". It was Alanna who spoke.

There was a need for her to ponder before she spoke, I promise.

Beyond Rocco Alanna and the two of us, there are other people. If he felt the need to, I have no doubt that Jake could bring more individuals out here.

"No favours Leah". Once again, Rocco said.

I gave a sigh of relief. "No favours I promise".

"I'm shifting". It was Alanna who spoke. Rocco may walk in here with you, Leah, and you can patrol the area. I'll take care of the margins. My legs are in need of some stretching. Before we could even blink, she transformed and quickly left the room.

"I'm going to say that was my fault". I clenched my teeth.

Laughter escaped his mouth as he said. "She just doesn't want to be landed with the shit end of the stick".

"And you think you have?". I did a frown.

I follow the instructions that are given to me, although I have been on nights ever since we were admitted into the pack. All the same, it is what it is. He made a shrugs. "You should talk to Jake".

"Yeah right". It was a snort.

"What's that supposed to mean?".

"There is nothing that is okay." Everywhere I am, I am content. The fact that I have a lot to be grateful for is something that I do not want to put in jeopardy. "Okay". I gave a little nod. "How's Reign getting on?".

"She is, in fact, rather excellent. She has rekindled her enthusiasm in going back to school and has already secured a job at the shopping center.

"Amazing". I wore a smile. "I'm glad she's doing good".

"How are you doing?".

"I'm okay". I gave a shrug. "Living the dream like always".

What is the reason why you are out here? My impression was that Lunas did not engage in activities of this kind.

"What patrolling?".

"Yeah". He wore a smile. "I'm surprised Jake agreed to it".

"Same". It made me chuckle. "But nothing ever happens so he's got nothing to worry about, right?".

"Right". And he grinned. "Come on we better get a move on".

About an hour had passed since we had started walking. Rocco was demonstrating to me the path that they go and pointing out the areas that needed to be checked to ensure that they were safe. Previous to this point, I had never been this far into the forest. In your wolf form, how do you accomplish this? As a wolf, what would you do if anything has been compromised? How would you go about fixing it?

It depends on the magnitude of the breach. Keep in mind that this location is monitored throughout the whole day. It's always possible to find someone out here.

"I guess you patrol in wolf form because it's safer?".

He made a shrugs. "Well, it's faster and it's not as cold".

"We're on foot because of me, right?".

You are on your very first patrol. It is preferable to start out on foot in the beginning and then shift later. "This means that you get a sense of it."

"Okay". I gave a little nod.

However, I did not say anything further about the subject since I was uncertain as to whether or not it was the truth or an excuse. When I was patrolling on foot, I had no problems. The difficulty of wanting to move but being unable to do so was avoided as a result of this.

"Did you bring coffee?". He inquired about it.

"I did".Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

"Then let's go get some and get a little bit hot," she said.

"Do we just patrol the same path all night?".

"Pretty much".

In reality, this was going to be much simpler than I had anticipated. I am not sure why Alanna is so vocal about her dissatisfaction with it.
