I made it back to the pack house as quickly as I could. I skid out when I hit the breaks out front. Curt and Sam came running out. “Your father wasn’t expecting you for another couple of hours, what is going on?”

Sam shows me his phone. “This says you are in the next county. What the hell is going on?”

“They took her. Some assholes took her, we have to get her back.”

Curt looks pale. “Someone took Madison.”

“Yes, where is my father?”

Sam answers. “In his office. He is in a meeting with the Alpha from last night.”

I charge into the pack house and keep charging until I am in that office. My father looks at me irritated. “What are you doing? You can’t charge in here like you are in the middle of a battle.”

I growl. “We are in the middle of a battle. I was attacked. They took Madi.”

Both Alphas look me over. Alpha Tyler is the one to ask. “What exactly happened?”

“This morning a pack of wolves surrounded my cabin. I was going to fight them off, they wanted me at first, but then something changed. They caught Madi’s scent and took her instead. She told me not to fight so that I would be safe. I can’t let them keep her.” I am pleading with my father to understand. She is my life, I can’t let her stay with those wolves. Not if I can save her.

My father shakes his head. “Sounds like maybe her mate took her. If they caught her scent and took her instead of you, then she refused to fight.”

“No, you don’t understand. We have a plan. I hid my phone on her and sent the location to you and Sam. She is only there until I can get to her. They wanted me, they are attacking our pack. She is a pack member. You have to protect her.”

“I can assess the situation and decide the next course of action. But as I said, it sounds like she found her mate.”

“She couldn’t have found her mate, her birthday isn’t for another twelve days.”

Alpha Tyler looks at my father. “It sounds to me like they are taking her for bait. They intended to take your son, but he was probably more than they could handle. But they knew that he wouldn’t be able to let her be taken. If you don’t respond then they will kill her. She is only valuable if she brings them Ethan.”

I started pacing the office. “It was more than that. The guy that caught her scent said that he knew it. It is someone that already knew Madi, but didn’t know she was there before they got there. They took her for another reason. We have to get her.”

My father shakes his head. “I can’t risk sending in wolves into an obvious trap.”Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

I lean on his desk and make sure that he hears me completely. “Then I will do it myself. I will not allow my mate to be killed like some common dog because you are indifferent to her.”

He doesn’t even flinch. “You said that her birthday isn’t for another twelve days, she isn’t your mate.”

“We decided to be chosen mates. I wasn’t going to wait for her birthday.” I growl back. “I already picked her.”

He leans back in his chair. “My hands are tied. I will try to send in a spy, but I will not launch a full attack on this hunch.”

I growl and leave the office. Time for plan B. Marching back out, I see that Curt and Sam are waiting. As well as several other wolves. “We are ready.” Sam states with a nod to me.

“Follow me. Make sure that location doesn’t move. Note where it is, we are getting her back.”

At least fifteen wolves follow me out to the vehicles out front. I know it isn’t what she deserves, but I will make it work. She is my mate and I will be damned if I am going to leave her in their clutches for a second longer than I have to. Deimos is in my truck and he can sense that she is in danger too, he has been whining since she was taken. I know he will fight to get to her too. So I guess that makes our number seventeen to the goddess only knows how many.
