Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 72
Chapter 72 The Loving Philip
“They’re actually not bad, Grandpa,” Farrah hurriedly interjected. “For a man’s first time cooking, it’s really great! The eggplant dish is delicious. The first time I tried cooking eggplant, I burned it, and it was so bitter.”
Adrian was surprised that Farrah was actually defending him instead of picking on his flaws.
“Yes, yes, with such an understanding wife, it’s impossible for Adrian not to improve his cooking skills,” Philip teased while taking a bite. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Then, he turned to Adrian and said, “Adrian, you should cook more often. What if Fay gets pregnant one day? She shouldn’t be in the kitchen then. Besides, for a young couple, household chores should be shared equally. Who says only women should cook?”
The young couple was stunned to hear Philip mentioning pregnancy. The stress was mounting for them as Philip was already starting to pressure them to have children. It seemed he would be a frequent visitor from then on.
After dinner, Philip pulled out two small boxes from his pocket and handed one to each. “Open them and take a look. It’s a gift for you both. No need to thank me, haha!”
Adrian and Farrah accepted the boxes, glancing at Philip in confusion before opening them. Inside each box was a ring. They looked at each other’s rings and realized the rings were identical in style, just like couple rings.
“I figured you hadn’t bought wedding rings yet.” Philip commented, leaning on his cane. His tone was both authoritative and earnest. “Well, now you don’t need to: I had these custom–made for you! From today on, I want to see you wearing them every day.”
As the young couple stood there, stunned and speechless, Philip added, “Make sure you wear them on the right finger. Married couples wear them on the ring finger–a symbol of eternal commitment. Once you put them on, it’s like sealing your bond, binding you together for life!”
Looking at the wedding rings, it was clear to Farrah that they were exclusive pieces, not ones that money alone could buy. As she noticed Adrian’s hesitation, she remained silent. She was unsure what to do or say, so she just held the box.
After all, once they put on these rings, everyone would know they were married.
“Adrian, hurry up and put it on! You’re a grown man; you shouldn’t be dawdling.” Philip scolded his beloved grandson sternly, his imposing presence also scaring Farrah.
Unable to resist Philip’s pressure as he knew Philip would be angry if they did not comply, Adrian began to put on the wedding ring without a word of protest. Seeing this, Farrah followed suit. Meanwhile, Philip watched the scene unfold with great satisfaction, his face beaming with joy.
“Don’t you dare take them off!” Philip emphasized once more before leaving. “If I see either of you without them, I’ll scold you! No exceptions!”
Adrian and Farrah simply nodded in response.
“Alright! My mission is accomplished for today. I’ll be off now. You two get some rest. With that, Philip headed out, and the young couple rose to see him off
After Philip left and the door closed, Adrian and Farrah exchanged a glance. Later, Adrian walked toward his study while Farrah stared at his back, then at the ring on her own finger. It was actually quite beautiful, and custom rings were always expensive.

By the looks of it, each sing probably cost a seven–figure sum. As she pondered over the wedding rings, Farrah began clearing the dishes and washing them. Meanwhile, Adrian received a phone call in his study.
The person on the other end reported, “Mr. Locke, Mr. Lovelace’s mother’s illness wasn’t clearly diagnosed at the time. It was a complex case that puzzled doctors. She was sent for treatment at the world’s top ten hospitals, all without success.”
“How severe was it?” Adrian asked.
“She was blind, her stomach had atrophied, and she couldn’t even swallow liquid food. She lost about 25 pounds in a week. Many doctors thought treatment was hopeless.”
Adrian fell silent as he mulled about how Farrah’s mentor had cured a person on the brink of death. Nonetheless, he was still shocked. He wondered if this could be described as the work of a miracle healer.
His subordinate continued, “Mr. Lovelace is a devoted son. He refused to give up and took his critically ill mother to seek out renowned doctors worldwide. In the end, a man named Walter Douglas cured her. She has now recovered to the point where she’s like a normal person.”
