Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Chapter 39

After that night, Emerald couldn’t sleep enough and was always thinking about Ace. For three days, she goes to work worried about another summons from the court that Jace would file against her to claim custody of their son.

“Ma’am Emerald, everyone is ready for the meeting,” one of her team members said after she knocked on her door and got into her office. Young Morgan looked up and nodded before getting up from her chair and leaving her office.

The team was busy discussing the development of their project, and Emerald was very happy since everything went earlier than planned. She was satisfied with her team, and although she hated Jace, she wanted to thank him for giving her reliable people who were willing to make extra effort. They were wrapping up the meeting when Esther came,

“How dare you, slut!” she said angrily, pointing at Emerald, who looked confused and angry at the same time.

“How dare you call me slut, bitch!” she replied and pulled Esther’s finger. “I am far from slut, and never will I become one. You better look at yourself first before you call people something they’re not.”

“And what do you want me to call you? You’re divorced, and you’re still seducing Jace!” Esther shouted, making everyone look at her and then at Emerald, who was very furious.

“There’s no way that I am going to seduce him; if you want him that bad, go and take him. Tie him around your waist if you want to be sure that no one will take him away from you.” She doesn’t understand where Esther gets the idea that she was seducing Jace when they are not meeting in the office unless it is work-related. Especially these last few days when she has been trying to avoid him because of their last conversation, which didn’t go well.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“What are you doing here?” Kyle asked when he came, looking at Esther.

“I am just telling this slut here”

“If I were you, you better watch your mouth if you didn’t want to suffer in Jace’s wrath,” Kyle warned, widening Esther’s eyes.

“Are you siding with her? Did you forget how much Jace hated her?”

“He hated her, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love her either,” Kyle replied, hesitant because he knew what his friend had done to Emerald.

“What love are you talking about? Jace loves me; he told that slut about it before, and you can ask her.” Esther rebutted, reminding Emerald of what Jace did on her birthday.

“And you believe that? Tell me, after Emerald left, did Jace show any interest in you again?” Kyle asked. “And don’t lie because we are always together, and I never saw him with any woman.”

Esther was quiet because Jace never approached her again after that day he invited her to their mansion. “Jace is mine, and I am not going to let anyone interfere,” the woman warned before she turned her back to them, making Emerald roll her eyes and look at her team to dismiss their meeting.

“Emerald,” Kyle said as he followed her into her office.

“You don’t need to explain to me, Kyle. I don’t care what your friend does in his life, and as long as no one bothers me, it’s fine.” Emerald told him.

“Emerald, I know I’m not in the position to”

“If you already know that, stop vouching for your friend. Nothing he will say or do can change my mind; how much more, you?” Emerald said, cutting off his words. “If you’ll excuse me, I still have things to do,” she added, sitting back in her chair before she started typing on her computer. Kyle looked at her and shook his head before he left her office.

Young Morgan sighs after the door closes. She looked at it and thought about what Esther had told her. Although she never seduces Jace, she also knows she feels something towards her husband but is fighting it. As much as possible, she didn’t want to invest her feelings in him anymore, thinking she’d get hurt again.

On her way to the parking lot, Emerald was stopped by Jace. “I heard what Esther did earlier, and I apologize-”

“Stop it. Jace. I don’t care about what she said; I am not affected at all.” Emerald said when she motioned her hand for young Higginson to stop.

“Still, I want you to know that we had no relationship even when I brought her to our house.”

“Your house, not ours, because there was never an us. And as I’ve already said, I don’t care.”

“Emerald, please, I want to make things right.”

“Then make it right with Esther so that you can leave me and my son alone,” Emerald replied, making Jace’s face hardened and his jaw clenched in trying to control his anger. He doesn’t know how long he will be able to tolerate Emerald’s behavior, but he is trying his best to understand her hostility.

“Can you please stop pushing me to other women because I am not going to take your bait so you will be able to spend your life with that bastard?” Jace replied, annoyed.

“And why do you keep on dragging Liam here?’

“So the bastard’s name is Liam!” Jace exclaimed, even though he already knew that.

“Don’t pretend that you don’t know his name. If you manage to find out about my son, there’s no way that you won’t be able to know his name or who he is to me.”

“Our son, Emerald. How often do I need to remind you that Ace is our son? Don’t make him appear like a bastard because he’s not!” Young Higginson said angrily.

“Of course, he’s not!”

“Then don’t ever say he’s just yours.” Jace replied, “And let me remind you about my offer. I’ll take Ace and come with me, or I am going to make things difficult for your lover.” he added, sounding more of a threat before he turned his back to his wife and went to his car.

Emerald was furious, thinking he had the last say. She didn’t want Jace to have the upper hand in their arguments. Then she remembered what he said, ‘Is he for real? He wants Ace and me to live with him?’ she asked herself. Young Morgan shook her head as she continued walking to her car, which her husband interrupted. When she came home, her thoughts were filled with Jace’s words, and she found her son in the living room waiting for her.

“Hello, baby. How was your day?” Emerald asked,

“Mommy, Daddy called, and he wanted to come with us to buy my school things,” Ace replied instead of answering her question. She wanted to tell him that only they would buy his school supplies, but he didn’t want to disappoint her son either. “Why? Don’t you want him to come with us?” Ace added when he noticed her quietness.

“What? No, of course not. I was just thinking that your Daddy is busy with his business, and you know what kind of business he has, right? He’s needed in his company most of the time.”

“But he already called me and said that it’s fine. He can make time for me because he said he loves me.” Emerald nodded and didn’t argue anymore. Realizing it was only to buy his school supplies and nothing more, she didn’t see anything wrong and agreed.
