Chapter 428
Chapter 428
Everyone had been advising him not to punish his little wife, but Andre was irritated. He got up and
walked out to see his little wife who was standing obediently on the corridor.
“Mia, don’t be so stubborn. There’s a stool right next to you. Sit down and take a break,” Leo whispered
to Mia.
But Mia just sniffled. “No, I'm not sitting.”
Leo glanced around at the doctors and nurses who had gathered to watch their punishment. “Sit down,
Mia. You don’t have to bear the shame with me.”
Mia whimpered, “If I sit down secretly and your uncle finds out, he’s going to chew me out again. I can’t
risk it.”
Hearing her pitiful and timid voice, Andre realized that his anger had scared her. She could pick a fight
at The Silent Ring, but couldn’t handle a few of his scoldings.
Andre appeared in front of them, and Leo immediately straightened up.
Mia looked up. Her bloodshot eyes were filled with tears. Because of the crying, her eyelashes were
distinct and curled. Her eyes were as clear as if they had been washed by a mountain spring.
She met his gaze briefly and then immediately lowered her head, not daring to look at him.
Andre swallowed hard. His Adam’s apple was bobbing. He stood in front of his little wife, walked closer
to her, and finally stopped when he was only inches away.
Leo looked at the couple, unsure if he should leave. If he stayed, he would be a big third wheel.
However, his uncle hadn’t told him to leave, so he didn’t dare to.
Mia, intimidated by her husband, began to weep again. Andre hadn’t even said a word yet, but his
usually bold little wife was already crying.
Andre was helpless. Was he that scary?
Listening closely, he could hear Mia’s sobs and sniffles, and he saw her shoulders shaking slightly. She
seemed to be heartbroken.
Andre slid his hands into his pockets and stood there, watching her cry.
Leo turned his head, wondering what his purpose in life was.
Mia’s hands were behind her, touching the wall. Her body was also against the wall, with a stool on her
left and Leo on her right. In front of her was her husband. She was cornered and couldn’t escape.
And there were medical staff enjoying the drama, standing around and watching. Andre felt the gazes
of the onlookers. He frowned. His sharp eyes warned those who were watching the drama. “If you don’t
have work to do here, then quit!” His displeasure was obvious.
After his warning, the medical staff left quickly. No one would risk losing a job over a piece of gossip.
Andre looked at his wife. “Come in and stand here as your punishment.”
Mia shook her head.
Sometimes, Leo really didn’t understand why Mia could be so timid and yet so stubborn. She was
clearly terrified of Andre, but she dared to refuse his orders.
Andre was just trying to help her feel better by asking her to stand inside, but she refused. She was so
ridiculous.
Andre lost his temper again. “If you want to stand outside, then by all means. I don’t care about you
anymore.” After saying that, he prepared to leave.
Because of his harsh words, Mia cried out in distress again. “No...”
Andre felt a pang in his heart and went straight back to the ward.
Naomi asked him, “You were supposed to bring Mia in. Why did you come back alone?”
Andre snapped, “I don’t care about her. Let her cry outside.”
Hansen glared at him. “Andre, is this how I taught you to treat your wife? Every time Mia does
something, it’s for your sake. You’re hurting someone who really cares about you. If you don’t want this
wife, then get out. I don’t want you as a son anymore.”
The Byrnes quickly tried to calm Hansen down, reminding him not to get too angry due to his age.
Andre’s face darkened. He had told her to come in, but she was being stubborn and refused. Was he
supposed to coax her into coming in like he used to, calling her “sweetie” and “darling”?
Naomi asked, “Did you tell Mia to stand inside as punishment?” NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Andre didn’t deny it.
Naomi, who knew Mia well, sighed deeply. “You’ve been married to Mia for so long, but you still don’t
understand her. If she stands inside, everyone she knows will be there. She won’t feel shy? If she
stands outside, at least the medical staff doesn’t know her. Even if they see her, it’s not that
embarrassing.”
“If she really comes in and stands in the corner, everyone will know that she’s being punished in front of
us. It’s embarrassing to lose dignity in front of familiar faces. She’s about to become a mother. How
awkward would it be for her to see us in the future? Is she stupid to follow you in?”
Andre hadn’t thought about that.
Naomi continued, “You, no one loves Mia more than you do, but when it comes to punishment, no one
is more ruthless than you.”
Bruce also chimed in, “Whatever problems you have as a couple, discuss it with Mia when you get
home. Mia is obedient enough. We all understand what happened this time. All three kids were at fault,
but it’s not that big of a deal.”
Chad was sitting by Molly’s bedside, watching her. Molly kept her head down, refusing to meet Chad’s
gaze. Chad wanted to vent his anger at Molly, to scold her, to discipline her, to hit her, but seeing the IV
drip on the back of her hand, and remembering that the first person she had sought after waking up
from a coma was him, Chad suppressed his anger.
“Let’s just discipline our own people.”
Chad would handle Molly. Bruce would take his son, and Andre would naturally take care of his little
wife.
Kendrick and Coleen went outside to call Mia in. This girl was stubborn. If Andre didn’t call her, she
wouldn’t move an inch.
Andre was also short-tempered, but Mia was always sweet to him, which prevented him from getting
angry. This time, his wife was disobedient, and everyone was saying he was harsh on his wife. Andre
was even less likely to let his little wife off the hook.
Hansen was angry. “Hmph, be angry then. I’ll take my daughter-in-law home.”
He entrusted Molly to the Byrne family. Given the situation, the Byrne family was definitely going to stay
in the hospital with Molly. He went outside and saw his pitiful little daughter-in-law being punished. His
heart softened and he went to Mia, pulling on her arm. “Come on, go home with me.”
Mia pouted, “What about my husband?”
“Forget him. Let him live his life with that temper of his. You have been standing here for too long.”
Hansen glanced at his grandson. “Help your Aunt Mia, and come with me.”
Leo’s legs were already sore from standing, and Mia, with a big belly, would only be more tired. Without
waiting for Mia’s refusal, he immediately took her arm and led her away.
Once they were in the car, Mia apologized to Hansen, “I messed up this time.”
Hansen didn’t compliment nor scold her. He simply advised, “Whether you’re right or wrong in this
situation is not for us to judge now. The point is you’re expecting, so you can’t be as reckless as them.”
