Chapter 419
Chapter 419
On the way back to the police station, Chad made a call to his colleague. “Did you manage to sort out
all the documents?”
Donnie glanced at the heap of documents on the table. “Chad, why don’t you hang a sign on the door
that says ‘No Molly Allowed’?”
Chad chuckled. “If a sign were enough to stop her, she wouldn’t be my sister.”
Donnie’s relationship with Chad was a complex one. He admired him, feared him, but also didn’t
hesitate to tease him. “Chad, I think you got what you deserved. You spoiled your sister too much, so
now you have to deal with the consequences.”
Chad laughed lightly. His mind drifted back to the unfinished sentence his sister had left hanging.
To find her inside? Really?
That silly girl dared to say something like that in front of their mother. Was she trying to scare her?
No matter how much Molly infuriated Chad, he could never vent his anger at her. She would cling to
him, crying and screaming in pain even before he could lay a hand on her. How could he hit her then?
And if he tried to scold her, she would always have a comeback.
To hit her? He couldn’t. To scold her? He couldn’t win.
“It’s my fault for spoiling her. It’s only fair that I have to deal with the consequences,” Chad sighed.
Donnie, in his simplicity, didn’t quite catch the undertone of Chad’s words. He simply agreed. “You’re
definitely not as lucky as Bruce and Andre. You are an older brother, but Molly only gives you a hard
time.”
Chad chuckled again. Andre might not necessarily be luckier than him. While his own sister had a
sharp tongue, Andre’s wife was even more formidable when it came to her fists.
“Focus on sorting out the documents first. I’ll be there in about ten minutes.”
After hanging up, Donnie resigned himself to the task of sorting out the mountain of case files. “A089,
where’s the corresponding file…” He muttered under his breath as he searched.
When Chad arrived at the office, he too began sifting through the documents.
“Chad, Molly doesn’t usually rummage through your files. What made her start today?” Donnie asked
curiously.
Thinking of his sister who seemed hell-bent on giving him a hard time, Chad lied, “She probably got
bored waiting for me and decided to help clean up. She must have stumbled upon these interesting
cases and had a look.”
Donnie responded, “... that’s pretty dumb.”
Chad shook his head helplessly. As he organized the documents, he also revisited the details of each
case, looking for any clues he might have missed.
In the morning, Leo woke up to find the house empty of his aunts and uncle. He stood on the porch,
stretching happily. “What a beautiful day! Looks like lady luck is finally shining on me.”
Naomi called him out, “Stop daydreaming and come down for breakfast. After that, you’ll accompany
me to check on your aunt.”
Leo retorted, “It’s pointless. She definitely hasn’t gotten out of bed yet.”
“How would you know?”
Leo spoke the truth, “She’s always been lazy. Whenever she goes back to her mother’s, she sleeps till
ten.”
Naomi expressed her concern, “How can she be so irregular with her sleeping patterns? She’s
pregnant! I need to call Mia.”
Leo quickly snatched the phone from his mother. “You worry too much. Mia’s not a child, and she’s not
alone. Her mother is with her. Everything will be fine.”
Her son made sense, so Naomi’s worries eased.
Leo slung an arm around Naomi’s shoulder. “Come on, join your son for breakfast. I’m in a great mood
today!”
Naomi chuckled. “Don’t get too comfortable. Your uncle will be back with Mia in no time.”
“Can’t you talk about something pleasant for once?”
At the Irvin household, Andre handed his wife a blueprint before he left for work. “Check this out when
you get bored. We need to decide where to set up the baby’s room. We can’t delay it any longer.”
Mia took the blueprint, turning it over in her hands. “Honey, how am I supposed to read this?”
Mia continued, “There are lines going all over the place, and letters marked on it. What does it all
mean? Can you add colors for me? It’s too primitive as it is.”
Andre sighed. He silently took the blueprint from his wife and told her, “Just stay at home and relax. I’ll
send you a video in the afternoon.”
Before leaving, Andre embraced his heavily pregnant wife. “I’ll try to come home early to keep you
company. Be good while I’m gone.”
Mia pouted and waved him off.
Back at home, Madison was busy discussing lunch options with the housemaid.
Mia yawned. “Mom, I’m going back to bed.” Without waiting for a response, she burrowed into her cozy
bed.
In the afternoon, Mia received an animated diagram on her phone. The red areas were not to be
tampered with. The green areas could be remodeled, and the orange areas indicated internal wiring
that needed caution. This simple, no-brainer animation was just the kind Mia needed. She bit into an
apple as she examined the animation on her phone.
After spending the morning discussing the menu, Madison spent the afternoon helping her daughter
choose a baby’s room.
When Aaron came home in the evening, he too joined in.
Andre was the last to return. Upon entering, he heard his in-laws debating. He sat down next to his
wife. “What are they arguing about?”
Mia, who was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle, sipped on her water and explained to her husband,
“They’re trying to decide on a room for your son. Dad thinks it should be further away to make him
independent. Mom wants it closer so we can attend to him easily if he cries at night.”
Aaron saw his son-in-law and immediately sought his support. “Andre, don’t you think boys should be
brought up to be independent? If we let him stay close, won’t he become overly reliant on us?
Shouldn’t we save the room closer to us for a girl?”
Madison also tried to win Andre over. “Andre, it’s your first time being parents. It would be more
convenient if the room is closer. If the baby cries at night, you can attend to him more easily.”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Andre glanced at his wife who was still sipping her water. Mia blinked at him. “What’s wrong? Can’t
decide who’s right?”
Andre replied, “I finally understand why your room is close to your parents’ room and Cooper’s room is
in the corner.”
After listening to the opinions of his in-laws, Andre found both of their points valid. But what about his
wife’s opinion?
Finally, it was Mia’s turn to speak. She put down her water glass and said with conviction, “I think the
baby should sleep with us.”
“No way!” Andre firmly refused, stating, “He needs his own room, his own space. We need to nurture
his independence from a young age.”
A wife knows her husband best. Mia didn’t need to put much thought into figuring out Andre’s real
intentions.
Andre, who didn’t even want a second child, was probably just reluctant to continue the abstinent
lifestyle.
