Chapter 1097 Could This Be A Trap
No one in their right mind would dare to storm in under these circumstances.
If the Faceless and the Black Puma were indeed inside, entering would undoubtedly be walking into a
trap.
Artemis put away his binoculars and sneered, “It's all for show. Black Puma probably isn't in there, but
Orion should be. I'll go in and check things out. You stay here and keep watch.”
“No way,” Rebecca objected without hesitation. “The situation inside is unpredictable. It's dangerous for
you to go in alone without any backup. If you're determined to take this risk, then let me accompany
you. Don't even think about leaving me behind. If I cause a scene, you can forget about continuing with
your mission tonight.”
Artemis rubbed his brow, feeling quite helpless.
He knew that bringing Rebecca along would be trouble, as her judgment was clouded by her emotions.
After a moment of hesitation, Artemis finally relented. He spoke in a deep voice. “Without my
permission, you are not allowed to act unilaterally. We're going in to rescue the hostage held by
Faceless. Ideally, we'll be able to save him. But if we can't, we must ensure our own safety and retreat
in one piece. Understand?”
“Don't worry. I value my life greatly. I still want to win you over, love you, cherish you, and have children
with you.”
Artemis completely ignored her as he stealthily approached the winery.
Rebecca smiled and quickly followed.
Meanwhile, on another main road in Xemrich, two inconspicuous sedans were parked by the roadside.
The surroundings were eerily quiet, with only a low murmur emanating from within the cars.
“Ms. Bailey, Mr. Luther and Ms. Sutton were traveling together. They were ambushed along the way,
and all their subordinates were scattered.”
Bailey's fingers, which were tracing a pattern, paused slightly. Her gaze moved away from the brocade
on her legs as she turned her head to look out the window.
Outside, it was pitch black, with only scattered lights flickering in the distance. The surroundings
seemed quiet, but danger lurked in the shadows.
“Something's not right. Everything that happened tonight is suspicious.”
A bit puzzled, Cassius asked, “What's so strange about it? Haven't we already confirmed that Faceless
entered the winery through the hot spring pool on the southwest side? Her sudden appearance at the
winery means she has an appointment with someone or is there to see something. If she isn't meeting
with Black Puma, she must be there to see Orion. Regardless of her purpose, it's worth taking the risk,
isn't it? We haven't located Black Puma's headquarters yet. Only when he shows up will we have the
chance to take him down.”
Bailey didn't respond. She merely repeatedly murmured the word 'Faceless' under her breath.
“Faceless, oh, Faceless, the one who appeared at the winery is indeed Faceless, and her expertise lies
in the art of disguise. If she really came to the winery, why wouldn't she disguise herself as a stranger?
That would allow her to evade all surveillance.”
Cassius was taken aback. Once he regained his composure, his face changed color.
“Exactly, if she wanted to show up, she could just disguise herself as someone else. Why would she
reveal her true face? Ms. Bailey, could this be a trap? The Faceless that appeared at the winery might
be a decoy, intended to lure Mr. Luther in. If Mr. Luther enters the winery, wouldn't he be walking into a
trap? His situation is quite perilous.”
Bailey clenched the white satin fabric in her hands as sweat began to bead on her forehead.
Orion is now in the hands of Faceless. If Artemis falls into her hands as well, she will have another
bargaining chip. Faceless has painstakingly arranged all of this, simply to force me into surrendering
The Art of Semblance. She wants to establish her own sect with it. Am I supposed to give it to her just
like that? She harbors ill intentions, and if she masters the most advanced art of disguise, no one will
be able to stop her. If she continues to collaborate with Black Puma as she is now, won't it stir up
unrest across the entire international community? The art of disguise can alter one's appearance. If her
ambition swells and she sets her sights on the throne of any kingdom, she could kill the king and take
his place.
Bailey didn't dare think about the consequences that would result.
In short, she must not let the Faceless get The Art of Semblance. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Even if it was destroyed, it must not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands.
“Cassius, quickly mobilize our people. We need to go to the winery and back up Mr. Luther. We can't let
him fall into the hands of the Faceless.”
“Indeed,” Cassius responded. Starting the car, he reassured her, “Please don't worry too much. Mr.
Luther is battle-hardened. It won't be easy to trap him. My guess is that Faceless is merely gambling
this time, betting that she can catch Mr. Luther. Even if she doesn't succeed, she won't lose anything.
After all, she only used a fake version of herself as bait.”
Bailey nodded, then returned to fiddling with the embroidery work on her lap.
Embroidery brought peace to her mind, and what she needed then was calm.
Thankfully, she realized that it was a trap in time. Otherwise, she could only learn about how dangerous
Artemis' situation was tonight through the words of others.
Now that she had discovered it, things were going to be different. At least she could rush over to stand
with him through thick and thin.
Meanwhile, there were many tourists at the Xemrich winery since it was an open-plan estate.
Artemis had already familiarized himself with the layout in advance. Upon entering, he moved with
ease and quickly arrived at the area where Faceless was located.
As soon as he approached the secluded courtyard, he received a message from Ken.
“Mr. Luther, according to our informant at the winery, a mysterious person was indeed confined here a
few days ago. I suspect it's Orion.”
Upon hearing this, Artemis abruptly halted his steps and asked in a deep voice, “Where are they
holding him captive?”
“The hot spring pool, the very one that the Faceless sneaked into. I have no idea where he's hidden
specifically though. How about I sneak in and take a look? There should be a dungeon or something
under the pool. A little exploration should reveal everything.”
Artemis fell silent for a few moments before finally speaking. "You don't need to come with me. The hot
spring pool isn't far. I'll go and investigate on my own. Just stay outside and support me. If anything
unexpected happens, I'll inform you immediately."
After ending the call, he turned and hurried towards the hot spring pool located on the southwest side.
While passing by the end of the flower bed, he encountered Rebecca coming from the opposite
direction.
"Why are you here? Weren't you supposed to be on lookout?" Artemis asked.
Rebecca whispered, "I received a message from the intelligence department. They informed me that
the hostage held by Faceless is confined in the hot spring pools on the southwest side, so I came to
take a look."
Artemis furrowed his brow, sensing that something was amiss. However, he couldn't pinpoint the exact
issue at that moment.
His silence made Rebecca assume that he was devising a plan to exclude her.
"Let me remind you that I also received this intelligence. The ability to rescue the hostages depends on
each individual's skills. If, unfortunately, I reach there first, you'll have to pay a suitable price if you want
to take someone from me in the future. It could be a kiss, a hug, or a passionate night. We'll discuss it
when the time comes."
After finishing her statement, she swiftly darted off towards the southwest.
