Chapter 97 I Will Help You Move
After Iverson left, Mrs. Old Byran’s room suddenly quieted down.
After a long while, Mrs. Old Byran sighed and said, “Forget it. It’s up to him to decide his own marriage.”
Upon hearing this, Victoria Carey panicked. “Mom, marriage is a big deal. We need to find a way to get Iverson to reconsider it. How can we let her marry into our family with such tricks?”
“Iverson is right, he is the one getting married.”
“He is still a child. How can you tell whether someone is being sincere or not?”
“He is close to thirty years old. He is no longer a child. Furthermore, wasn’t his father the same back then?”
Mrs. Old Byran glanced at Victoria and said sarcastically, “It’s so easy for you to say that now. Why didn’t you persuade his father to think it over when you were together?”
Victoria’s face turned pale.
Mrs. Old Byran withdrew her gaze and said in a low voice, “I’m tired and need to rest. You can go back now.”
“Yes.”
With an embarrassed tone, Victoria left her room.
Even though she had succeeded in marrying into the Byran family all those years ago and gained a firm foothold in the family, Mrs. Old Byran had never cared about her. Even now, Mrs. Old Byran would mock her from time to time.
After leaving Mrs. Old Byran’s courtyard, Victoria clenched her fists and her face turned pale.
Hurried footsteps came from behind her. “Madam.”
It was the housekeeper of the old house.
Victoria reined in her gloomy expression. “Did you hear what Iverson said?”
“Didn’t Young Master specifically say that for me? Madam, does Young Master want me to leave the Byran Family? I’ve been in the Byran Family for so many years.”
“So what? If he changes his mind and chases me out, and Mrs. Old Byran doesn’t plead for you, what can I do?”
“But I did what you and Mrs. Old Byran asked me to do.”
“There must be a way to vent his anger. He can’t blame his grandma, can he? In between the grandmother and the grandson, he can only sacrifice you.”
“I am truly wronged.”
Just as Victoria was about to leave, she heard a sigh coming from behind her, and thus came to a sudden stop. “Unless one day, the owner of this residence changes, then it’s not up to them anymore.”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
The housekeeper was slightly stunned.
“How’s the thing I asked you to do going?”
“It’s about time.”
…
The next day was Saturday.
Amanda was woken up by the sound of the electric drill upstairs. Her temples were ringing as if someone was repairing them with a hammer and an electric drill.
After she failed to cover herself under the pillow, she finally lifted the quilt and jumped out of bed.
“Who is it? It’s the weekend! Does anyone care?”
Amanda casually put on a nightgown and went out. When she opened the door, her face was full of resentment. She almost bumped into someone who was about to press the doorbell.
“I haven’t knocked on the door yet.”
Iverson’s hand was still in midair as he looked at her in surprise.
Amanda was stunned for a long time. “I… you… why are you here?”
Iverson shook his phone. “I sent you a message this morning. Didn’t you see it?”
The phone?
She couldn’t fall asleep last night and didn’t fall asleep until the early morning. How could she see the message he sent in the morning?
Seeing that Iverson was looking at her in shock, Amanda suddenly came to her senses and slammed the door shut. She shouted across the door, “Wait a minute.”
After saying that, she rushed straight into the bathroom, regardless of what Iverson had said.
Inside the mirror, her hair was a complete mess and there were dark circles under her eyes. She was also wearing pajamas.
This is terrifying for Amanda. She couldn’t believe he saw her like this when they just started dating.
Iverson waited at the door for half an hour. When Amanda opened the door, she had changed into a simple white sweater and blue jeans. Her long hair draped over her shoulders, making her look lazy and gentle.
Iverson raised an eyebrow. “It seems that you didn’t open the door for me back then. You are opening the door for me now.”
Amanda blushed and coughed. “It’s too noisy upstairs. I want to go and have a look.”
As they were talking, there was a sound of smashing on the wall upstairs again.
Amanda frowned. “Why don’t we go out? By the way, why are you here now?”
“I’m here to help you move.”
“Huh?”
Iverson looked around and asked, “Do you plan to live in another man’s house?”
Amanda was stunned for a moment before recalling what had happened last night.
She came back too late last night and hadn’t figured out how to talk to Patrick yet.
Amanda took out her phone. “I’ll call Patrick first. He signed a contract with me back then, and it was his friend who registered the house. I’ve already confirmed it before. Is there some misunderstanding?”
“I asked Jamie to check again. The owner of this house is indeed Patrick Dolley.”
“Then what about the contract?”
“He is a lawyer. He knows very well what it’s like to forge contracts and messages, but he dares to do this because he knows you won’t blame him.”
Iverson said calmly, “Once we’re done moving, we’ll just let him know.”
“Today?” Amanda was stunned. “I haven’t found a house yet.”
“I’ve found it for you.”
Amanda was stunned.
Sitting in Iverson’s car, Amanda felt that everything was unreal.
Behind their car was the moving van. After packing up all her things, she moved directly to her new place.
There was a new rental contract on Amanda’s knees.
She read through all the information carefully, especially the page where the owner was registered. She was still not at ease. “Is this house really not yours?”
Iverson said expressionlessly, “I’m not as stupid as some other guy. If you can find a place by yourself, why should I bother?”
“Then how did you find a house so quickly?”
“I leave such trivial matters to my assistant.”
Seeing that Amanda hadn’t signed the contract yet, and how she kept asking him all sorts of questions, Iverson glanced at the contract and said, “It seems that you are not satisfied with this house. It doesn’t matter. Jamie can find a new one.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Jamie’s face turned pale.
No!
It took him the whole night to filter out all the suitable housing sources near Safe Home Real Estate. In the middle of the night, he contacted the real estate agent or owner to check it out. Finally, he found a house that satisfied Iverson’s criteria.
If Amanda said no, it meant that he would have to stay up all night again. He still wanted to sleep!
In the rearview mirror, Jamie wore a bitter expression and was about to cry. He desperately looked at Amanda.
Iverson continued. “Stay at my place for now. There’s no rush. Stay as long as you want.”
Amanda threw him a dirty look. “In your dreams!”
With two strokes, she signed her name at the end of the rental contract.
