Chapter 73 We Can Develop Slowly
Amanda’s words stunned Joleen for a while.
“Don’t you like it too? And you look better in it than me.”
“Who said that?” Amanda glared at Joleen. “There are so many actresses and models wearing clothes that look better than me, can’t I wear those clothes yet?”
“Alright, aren’t you busy? Hurry up.”
Amanda patted Joleen’s hand. “If you want to go on a date, remember to wear this dress. It’ll definitely stun him.”
“What date? No, I’m just going to work overtime.”
“I mean in the future, what are you nervous about?”
Amanda winked at Joleen.
Joleen’s eyes sparkled, “Thank you, Amanda.”
“We are friends. Nothing is more important than friendship.”
“Yes.”
After watching Joleen leave, Amanda sat back in the chair and sighed as she looked at so many bags beside her.
If she had known earlier, she wouldn’t have bought so many things. Since Joleen wasn’t around, she didn’t want to go have dinner alone. Just as she was feeling a little depressed, her phone suddenly rang.
“Hello?”
“Where are you? Let’s have dinner tonight,” The man’s low voice sounded in her ears.
Amanda pursed her lips and said hesitantly, “The central mall.”
“I’ll pick you up and wait for me by the road.”
“Huh?”
Amanda wanted to say that she hadn’t agreed, but the other party had hung up.
How could this person be so overbearing?
Standing by the side of the road, the autumn wind was already cool.
A car slowly drove up to her, the window was rolled down. “Amanda.”
Amanda was taken aback. “Patrick?”
It was Patrick who was in the car, and what a coincidence to meet him here.
Patrick said, “I just happened to be passing by. I saw you standing here alone. Didn’t you go shopping with Joleen? Where’s she?”
“Joleen suddenly went to the company for something.”
“Then why are you carrying so many things alone? Shall I send you back?”
With that, Patrick got out of the car.
Amanda hurriedly said, “There’s no need for that, Patrick.”
“Amanda, you don’t have to be so polite with me. How about this? Put things in my car first, and we’ll have a meal together, and then I’ll send you back later.”
“No,” Amanda said seriously, “Patrick, I have an appointment.”
“Didn’t Joleen leave?”
“I happened to have a friend who called me and we made an appointment for dinner.”
“What friend?”
Patrick’s questions made Amanda even more uncomfortable.
At this time, the car that came to pick her up arrived.
As soon as the door opened, he got out of the car and stood straight. His finely tailored suit made him look nobler, which attracted the attention of people around.
“Iverson Byran?”
Patrick’s expression changed. “Amanda, the friend you had an appointment with will not be him, will he?”
Before Amanda could reply, Iverson walked over to her. “It is me. Mr. Dolley, you’re here too?”
Amanda said, “I’m waiting for you at the side of the road. Patrick happened to drive by”
“Oh? What a coincidence.”
Iverson’s eyes were deep and sharp as he stared at Patrick.
Patrick said unhappily, “What’s wrong? Are all the roads in Ducco taken by the Byran Family? Can’t I drive past”
“Of course, Mr. Dolley is free to do so.”
Iverson said calmly to Amanda, “Amanda, let’s go.”
“Patrick, I’ll go first.”
“No!”
Patrick suddenly grabbed Amanda’s hand. “Amanda, I have something to say to you.”
Seeing this, Iverson’s face darkened, and he grabbed Patrick’s arm.
“What are you doing? This has nothing to do with you!” Patrick raged.
“Amanda, I have something important to tell you. Don’t go with him today, okay?”
Amanda’s hand was grabbed very tight, and her brows were tightly furrowed as she suppressed the pain.
Iverson said unhappily, “Let go of her.”
“I said it has nothing to do with you, Mr. Byran. Don’t you understand?”
“You hurt her.”
Patrick snapped out of his reverie when he heard those words. Seeing Amanda’s suppressed expression, he immediately let go of her. “I’m sorry. Amanda, I didn’t do it on purpose.”Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’m fine.”
Amanda forced a smile and deliberately walked to Iverson’s side to hold his arm. “Patrick, I’ve already made an appointment with Iverson for dinner. Do you have something important to tell me? Why don’t we go together? Iverson is not an outsider.”
When Patrick heard the word “Iverson”, his face paled.
“Patrick? What’s wrong with you?”
Amanda’s voice pulled Patrick back from his reverie. He looked like he had lost his soul. “It’s, it’s nothing. Let’s talk about it next time.”
With that, Patrick took a deep look at Iverson and got into the car.
Patrick’s car disappeared from the street with the sound of the engine.
Iverson held Amanda’s hand. There were two distinct fingerprints on it. “Does it hurt?”
“I’m fine.”
Amanda tried to pull his hand back, but his grip tightened all of a sudden. “Mr. Byran, what are you doing?”
“Now that he’s gone, you’re calling me Mr. Byran instead?”
Amanda blushed. “I said that on purpose for Patrick to hear.”
“I know, I’m also happy to block the unnecessary romance luck for you, but there is a better way to solve it once and for all.”
“What way?”
“Marry me and become Mrs. Byran.”
Amanda immediately withdrew her hand. “Ahem, you can’t park here for too long. Get in the car first. By the way, what are we going to eat later?”
Iverson raised his eyebrows slightly, his eyes full of affection.
In the Western restaurant.
There was a violin playing melodiously in the hall.
The waiters at the table came over to pour wine and retreated to the side.
“That’s why you’re avoiding Patrick for the sake of your best friend?”
“Not exactly. I didn’t know Patrick’s feelings in the past. Now that I know, it’s only natural for me to keep my distance.”
Amanda swirled her wine glass. “By the way, thank you for your cooperation just now.”
Iverson raised his glass and clinked it against hers.
A crisp clinking sound accompanied the performance, and the atmosphere was harmonious.
After drinking some wine, Amanda became bolder.
She said, “I’ve considered what you told me.”
Iverson put down his glass and sat upright.
“I’ve thought about it, and we can try to get in touch.”
Their eyes met. Amanda looked at the man across from her and suddenly looked away in a panic. She picked up her glass and was about to drink.
To suppress shock.
“You don’t want to marry me?”
“Cough, cough.” Amanda choked and almost spat out the red wine in her mouth.
What different mind?
“Who gets married as soon as they just know each other? I mean to date first,” Amanda explained for a long time and said angrily, “if you don’t want to, then forget it.”
“Okay, but I have a condition.”
“Go ahead.”
Iverson leaned over to the table and pulled closer to Amanda. “Come home with me for dinner tomorrow.”
“Go home with you? Why?”
“My grandma wants to see you.”
Amanda was stunned. Gritting his teeth, he said, “Do you understand what I mean?”
She said that they could develop slowly and start from dating, understanding to confirmation of love, but this man asked her to go home to see the elders in the first place. Was this slow?
But in Iverson’s eyes, it was slow enough.
If it weren’t for the fact that Mrs. Elder Jewell wanted that his elders could accept Amanda first, he wouldn’t have planned to take her to grandma first.
