Chapter 1222 The Role Of The Jade Pendant

Chapter 1222 The Role Of The Jade Pendant

“Why are you asking so many questions? Are you not going to kill me?” Alex probed.

He didn’t want to spill everything to the old man, only to end up dead. That was why he had to clarify beforehand.

Damon let out a hearty laugh and gazed at Alex. “Why on earth would I want to kill you?” he asked, amused.

Hadriel grew anxious and couldn’t bear to watch this any longer. Not only was Damon refusing to help the secret world kill Alex, but he was even expressing interest in the latter now. That b*tch has already escaped, and if this guy doesn’t die, all the humiliation I’ve suffered under him will be for naught!

With that in mind, he pleaded urgently, “Don’t fall for Alex’s words, Mr. Bach. Please, get rid of him now!”

“What right do you have to speak here?” Damon responded, sending Hadriel flying with a wave of his long sleeve.

Alex was completely dumbfounded. Isn’t this geezer the elder of the Raven Sect? Why did he do that to Hadriel? Is there something going on behind the scenes that I don’t know about?

The disciples of the Raven Sect were just as stunned. They had thought that Damon would be their saving grace, but instead, he had attacked their sect leader.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Damon’s amiable demeanor toward Alex was entirely due to the dragon- shaped jade pendant in the latter’s hand.

As the former elder of the sect, he still adhered to one teaching, which was to regard the holder of the jade pendant as the leader of the Raven Sect. That was also why he had never recognized Hadriel as the sect leader.

Each past leader of the Raven Sect would only entrust the jade pendant to the person most suited to take his place.

In Damon’s eyes, Alex seemed perfect as the sect leader. Whether it be his abilities or character, he’s extremely qualified. The Raven Sect would undoubtedly reach greater heights with his governance.

This was a personal bias that prevented him from killing Alex. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“I never intended to kill you,” the elderly man remarked with a curl of his lips. “Look at the jade pendant in your hand. Possessing this pendant makes you the leader of the Raven Sect, so how could I possibly commit such an act of insubordination?”

Alex glanced at the dragon-shaped jade pendant in his hand instinctively. He was only safeguarding it for Wanda out of fear that Hadriel would take it from her.

So, this pendant in my hand is the only reason this geezer hasn’t killed me? Who would’ve thought that a simple act of kindness on my part would end up saving my life?

Alex had no plans to explain everything to Damon, for preserving his own life was his biggest priority

“So, if I’m the leader of the Raven Sect, then what does that make Hadriel?” he asked, clutching the jade pendant in his hand.

“The one who possesses the jade pendant is the sect leader. Perhaps he hasn’t said anything about this simply because he knows that deep down, he’s not worthy of the title. In any case, his fate rests in hands,” Damon explained calmly.

Alex was thrilled. Never had he expected this sure-death situation to turn out this way.

Thank goodness. Well, if I want to save myself, I’ll have to play the role of the Raven Sect leader for now. Then, I’ll explain everything to this geezer when I find Wanda.

As these thoughts ran through his head, a familiar voice echoed from not too far away.

“Don’t you dare lay a finger on Alex! This matter has nothing to do with him, so if you’re going to kill. someone, take it all out on me instead!” Wanda leaped down from the building and quickly positioned herself in front of Alex while glaring at the crowd.
