Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce!

Chapter 1043 Having Been Stalked

Chapter 1043 Having Been Stalked

"You don't have to go yourself. Send an assistant over to handle it. I need you to go to the hotel Luke and I visited yesterday and find a way to obtain the security footage," Sydney said, narrowing her eyes.

Sean hesitated. "I'm not sure if I can get the footage. Whoever's behind this will likely fear you using it to clear your name, so they may have destroyed it before we can get our hands on it."

"I've considered that," Sydney said, rubbing her brow. "But we must try regardless."

Nodding in agreement, Sean said, "I'll go in a moment. Should we tell Mr. Flint about the situation?"

Sydney gave a faint smile. "Given the impact of the matter, he'll find out soon enough, either from his sources or those around him. I suspect he hasn't contacted me yet because he's preoccupied. Rest assured, he'll call once he's aware."

"Okay." Sean patted her chest. "His knowledge of the matter is essential for resolving it."

"Indeed. It concerns him as well, and we'll need his help to uncover the mastermind." Sydney waved her hand and said, "Go ahead. Inform me immediately whether you find the footage or not."

"I will." Sean agreed and went on her mission with the assistant.

Sydney was left alone in the office.

Her anger grew as she stared at her computer screen. In the end, she closed the browser and tried to come up with a solution.

She picked up her phone and called the Squirrel team again.

Her previous call had gone unanswered, the line occupied.

She surmised that many people had been calling them to confirm the truth.

She hoped someone would answer the phone this time.

Her wish was answered. Then the line really got through, and the uncharacteristic voice of a man came over. "Hello?"

"Sydney speaking," she said slowly with a cold face.

On the other end of the phone, the man fell silent. After a while, the sound of his heavy, nervous breathing came over.

Apparently, he panicked upon hearing her name.

Sydney sneered inwardly.

The Squirrel team was indeed problematic.

Otherwise, why were they so afraid of her?

The man regretted answering the phone and itched to slap himself.

Why had he come in at this time? He could have avoided the phone call.

What rotten luck!

He groaned in his heart, took a deep breath, and spoke politely with feigned ignorance. "Sorry, Miss, but we don't know you. If there's nothing else, I'm gonna hang up. Have a good day. Goodbye."

He was about to end the call when Sydney laughed coldly.

"If you dare hang up, believe it or not, I'll ask Julien to shut down your agency and make all of you lose your jobs right now."

Her words were domineering, her tone indifferent and arrogant.

There was no doubt that she meant every word.

At least, the man on the other end of the phone didn't doubt her ability.

His heart sank even further. He was devastated and sobbed over the phone. "I'm sorry, Ms. Raines. I'm just a secretary. I..."

"Enough!" Sydney interrupted him with a frown, "Since you addressed me as Ms. Raines, it's clear you recognize me and know why I'm calling, right?"

His silence served as a tacit admission.

Sydney's grip on the phone tightened. "If you're aware, then why not come clean?"

"Ms. Raines, I'm just a secretary..." The man began to repeat his earlier statement, hoping to placate her.

But Sydney wasn't buying it. Her lips curled into a cold, disdainful smirk. "Spare me the act. I called the editor-in-chief's office, and you answered. That means you hold a significant position, either as the secretary-general or a special assistant. You must know plenty, so don't try to brush me off with that excuse."

The man was beyond distressed.

Ms. Raines was so perceptive!

She left him no room to maneuver.

His voice quivered, thick with desperation. "I..."

"Enough stalling! Speak!" Sydney barked. "If you don't, I'll make good on my threat. I'll not only make you all jobless but also make sure that you won't find another job. Try me if you don't believe me."

The man trembled, fear gripping him as he nodded. "I'll tell you whatever you want to know."

He wasn't a fool. There was no point in resisting such a threat.

They all knew the online rumors were false. Ms. Raines hadn't betrayed Mr. Flint.

Since there was no betrayal, their relationship must still be strong.

Naturally, the false allegations of an affair would enrage them both.

It would be odd if Mr. Flint didn't retaliate against their company.

Although someone had promised the editor-in-chief that their company would be safe, no one had mentioned anything about protecting the employees.

He was just an expendable secretary. If that person went to war with Mr. Flint, there would undoubtedly be collateral damage.

After all, the person behind all this couldn't be as powerful as Mr. Flint. The company and the editor- in-chief might be protected, but the employees were likely to become sacrificial lambs.

If that happened, the consequences would only be more severe than Ms. Raines' statement.

To save his own ass, he was willing to come clean.

Although he would be held accountable and fired because of this, at least, his record would remain clean, and he could find another job.

If he refused now, he would be doomed.

For the sake of his future, he had to go all out.

After making up his mind, he looked around to make sure no one else was in the office. Then he covered his mouth and whispered into the phone without hesitation, "Alright, I'll talk. What do you want to know? I'll tell you everything."

Given his reaction, Sydney knew that her threat had worked.

Bringing up Julien proved to be a good move. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

The corners of her mouth curved upwards in satisfaction, but her voice remained icy. "Tell me, who ordered the Squirrel team to stalk me and take those photos?"

Her meeting with Chaim at that hotel was private.

By rights, the outsiders couldn't possibly know about it.

But it was photographed right when Luke and she arrived at the hotel, which showed that someone had been stalking them. It couldn't be a coincidence.

And she hadn't noticed the stalker the whole time.

Sydney pursed her lips in disgust at the person behind the scheme.
