“Win, Mills?” Joanna’s voice echoed from behind.
Millie and Winston turned, finding Joanna in her white coat with a cup of coffee in hand.
Her face briefly stiffened seeing the scene, her lips pressing into a thin line.
Mille and Winston together explained why he hadn’t answered her calls earlier–he was with Millie. Joanna wondered if he was still hung up on his ex.
“Did I interrupt?” she asked, her smile tainted
bitterness.
Quickly, Winston explained, “No, Millie hurt her hand at the banquet a few days ago. I’m taking her to her hospital appointment.”
Millie shot Winston a piercing look, silently condemning his two–faced behavior.
Joanna offered a strained smile, her irritation barely concealed. “Thanks to Mills that day, otherwise-”
“He’s lying,” Millie interjected, halting Joanna’s words
Winston’s eyes narrowed at Millie, wondering what she was up to.
Raising her chin, Millie flashed Winston a mischievous grin, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Joanna, keep an eye on your fiancé. He arrived at my place early this morning, insisting on coming with me to the hospital. I’m starting to think he has feelings for me.” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Upon hearing this, Joanna’s expression hardened further.
“Millie, stop making up stories,” Winston warned, his voice tight.
Unperturbed, Millie pressed on, “Remember, a man who cheats once will likely do it again. Today, it’s with you; tomorrow, it could be someone else.”
Millie was being deliberately provocative, her composure fraying due to Winston’s behavior earlier. Millie was being deliberately provocative, he Joanna’s sudden appearance had changed everything.
If her blind date went south, Winston could forget about any chance with Joanna.
Knowing Joanna well, Millie was certain that she wouldn’t tolerate it if Winston showed kindness to
someone else.
After hearing Millie’s words, Winston would have a hard time smoothing things over with Joanna for at least three days.
“Thanks for the hospital escort, dear ex–husband. It’s rare to find such a good ex like you.” Millie raised her hand, tapping lightly on Winston‘
shoulder.
Ignoring Winston’s darkening expression, Millie gave him a playful wink. She looked utterly innocent, her radiant smile making her seem untouchable.
“I should get going,” Millie beckoned, waving them goodbye with a smile that rendered them
speechless.
