Rachel was still lying on the bench as she called Millie. “Ms. Caldwell, where have you gone off to?”
The door opened as soon as she finished speaking.
Rachel looked at the doorway and saw Millie, who was back to her regular self.
“Hey, superstar. I’m here to take those needles out,” Millie said as she walked in. She didn’t bring up anything that had just happened.
“Where did the hat go?” Rachel asked.
‘I’ve decided to keep it since I like it so much, so it’s mine now. If I gave it back, the paparazzi might think that I’m you!” Millie said, randomly coming up with an excuse to convince her best friend.
Rachel thought nothing of it and left it at that.
After the acupuncture session, Rachel’s whole body was completely relaxed. She no longer felt as
exhausted as before.
When they left, Millie heard the lobby manager say, “How strange! What happened to this part of the surveillance footage?”
“Mr. Lloyd asked us to look for this guest, but I didn’t expect it to become a problem.”
“Who knows where she actually came from? How strange!”
Millie looked down and scrolled through her phone as she murmured, “Let me look for what we should
eat next.”
“Millie!” Rachel nudged her arm.
Millie looked up and was about to ask Rachel what was wrong when she saw the couple that had just
walked in.
It was Winston and Joanna.
Winston was holding a present in one hand while Joanna held onto a large bouquet of roses. She had one arm linked around Winston as they smiled at each other, looking perfectly content. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
It seemed like Joanna giving Selma a fake Snowdrop Plant hadn’t affected the relationship between
her and Winston at all.
That was how he was toward Joanna. He had no boundaries when it came to her and loved her no
matter what.
If anyone else had done the same thing, he wouldnt have let them go so easily after giving Selma a fake Snowdrop.
“Millie,” Winston said with a frosty tone.
Millie didn’t bother to answer.
Rachel looked at the intimate couple and couldn’t help but say, “Disgusting.”
“Millie!” Joanna said at the sight of Millie. She began to put her usual act on again. “Are your injuries healed now? If it wasn’t for you, I’d have been the injured one. Thank you!”
As she spoke, Joanna handed the roses in her hand to Millie. “These are from Winston, but I think you deserve them more than me.”
Internally, Joanna was thinking about how Millie must have never gotten flowers from Winston before. By giving the roses Winston gifted her to Millie instead, it would definitely piss Millie off.
Winston hesitated. It wasn’t polite to give other people flowers that had been a gift from others.
Millie frowned. Why was Joanna giving her the flowers that Winston had given to Joanna?
Was Joanna trying to humiliate Millie?
Maybe she thought Millie couldn’t afford to buy flowers, or perhaps she felt as if Millie had never gotten flowers before and only deserved second–hand flowers.
“Millie, don’t take this the wrong way. I just want to thank you, so please take them,” Joanna said, trying to pass them to Millie again.
Millie turned her down with mockery in her gaze. Her tone was laced with disdain as she said, “Ms. Lowell, if you would like to thank me, feel free to buy me a limited edition handbag or perhaps a nice meal. I can’t feel your sincerity from a bunch of preloved flowers.”
Winston hurriedly said, “Millie, Joanna rarely gets to go out and socialize. It’s not a proper gift, so I’ll be sure to buy you a proper gift as a thank you.”
Millie fell silent.
Rachel, on the other hand, couldn’t stand it any longer. Joanna definitely got the chance to socialize a
lot.
“What a small world. Yerwick City is so big, and yet we bump into a pick–me here,” Rachel said unforgivingly.
She had disliked Joanna for a long time.
Millie tugged at Rachel’s sleeve, indicating for her not to say things like that.
“Rachel, I’m sure Joanna has never done anything to you before, right?” Winston stared at Rachel. His tone sounded more like he was interrogating her rather than simply asking.
Millie was helpless. As expected, Winston really was protective over Joanna.
She knew Winston would defend Joanna immediately the moment Rachel said anything about his beloved.
“Rachel didn’t mean anything by that. Please don’t take offense, Mr. Greer, Millie said with a smile.” Just think of it as her being too immersed in her last role.”
“As if! They’re the ones who are putting on an act, aren’t they?” Rachel jabbed a finger at Winston. “As a married man, aren’t you ashamed to publicly show off your mistress?”
