After the car stopped in front of the villa, Winston carried Millie out of the car.
When the car door was opened, Millie opened her eyes slightly. She was still groggy as she asked,* Are we home?”
Winston looked at her. She seemed to be in pain. She must be feeling discomfort due to the injuries
on her body.
“Yes,” he replied in a low voice and carried her upstairs.
Millie felt a bit dizzy. Everything was hazy and she drifted back to sleep once more.
Seeing her sleeping so soundly, Winston couldn’t help but feel a little helpless.
This foolish woman had fallen asleep without any scruples. Fortunately, he had been the one to send her to the hospital. What if it had been Simon?
Winston didn’t dare to think about what would have happened if Simon had taken her home.
He pushed open the bedroom door and switched on the lights. The emptiness of the room made his
heart shiver.
Ever since Millie left, he had not entered this room. Now that he was in here again, everything felt
foreign.
Winston lifted the blanket and slowly put Millie onto the bed.
Millie rolled over immediately and hugged her blanket while muttering, “It hurts..”
Standing beside the bed, Winston stared at Millie who was sleeping in a less than elegant manner. A helpless smile flashed across his face.
He bent down to smoothen out her clothes and pushed her hair that was on her face to the side.
Millie’s eyelashes were very long with her eyes closed. She was really stunning, to the point that it was hard for one to tear their eyes away the longer one stared at her.
When she was in high school, she received tons of love letters. When she was in university, tons of people confessed to her.
Everyone said that Winston was lucky to have her, but only Millie felt that she was lucky to be able to marry Winston. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
What about now? Would she still feel that she was lucky to be able to marry him? The current Millie probably only harbored hatred toward him.
At this thought, Winston swallowed, feeling a pang of bitterness in his heart.
Just as he was lost in thought, Millie’s phone rang. He picked up Millie’s bag and took out her phone. The caller ID showed Simon.
Winston frowned. It was after midnight now. Wasn’t Simon a bit rude to call at this hour?
He looked at Millie on the bed, and then at the phone that wouldn’t stop ringing.
After a while, he answered the call and put the phone to his ear.
“Millie, are you home? How are your injuries?” Simon’s voice was gentle and filled with unmistakable
concem.
Winston pursed his lips and said in a low voice, “She’s asleep.”
There was no reply from the other end of the phone. Winston thought that Simon had hung up, so he looked at the phone screen.
When he realized that Simon was still on the phone, he narrowed his eyes. For a moment, he felt triumphant.
“Winston?” Simon asked.
“Surprised?” Winston sat on the bed and cupped Millie’s face. He stroked her lips lightly in an absentminded way.
Simon chuckled. “Not at all. Thank you for taking care of Millie.”
Winston’s expression darkened. What did Simon mean by saying thank you?
“Mr. Harrison, Millie is my wife. I don’t need your gratitude.” Before Simon could answer him, Winston added, “I should be thanking you instead. At this hour, you’re still worried about Millie.”
Winston spoke with sarcasm. Simon could tell immediately that he was asserting his dominance.
Simon chuckled wryly. He wasn’t angry, and neither did he care.
“Mr. Greer, you know that Mills is your wife, but you’re still out there fooling around with other women. Simon sighed. “How can you call yourself Millie’s husband now?”
Winston narrowed and the air around him turned chilly, “Simon!”
his eyes,
Simon wasn’t bothered and continued, “You’re embarrassing us men with that unfaithful behavior.
Winston gripped the phone tightly. He was insulted and said through gritted teeth, “Mr. Harrison, mind your own business. You’re not a gentleman either, seeing that you’re seducing a married woman!
