“Ms. Lowell, Sonny is dead.”
In a café, Joanna, wearing sunglasses, sipped her coffee. Upon hearing the news, a sense of relief washed over her.
However, she was far from satisfied. “I told you to get rid of him, but you took forever! You’re so slow at your job!”
Jeremy appeared helpless as he explained, “Ms. Lowell, his identity was different, and I did everything I could. But fortunately, he’s dead now.
“No one will ever know that you impersonated Millie to save Winston. He’ll never discover the truth unless she reveals it.”
“Millie…” Joanna narrowed her eyes. “She’s someone we can’t keep alive.”
Jeremy immediately asked, “Ms. Lowell, are you planning to deal with her?”
“Jeremy, tell me, what kind of person is great at keeping a secret?” Joanna countered with a smirk, a hint of danger flashing across her eyes.
Jeremy’s lips curled into a smile. “A dead person, of course.”
Joanna scoffed and replied, “Then, let’s send her on her way.”
Her plan to eliminate Millie wasn’t new. It had been brewing for a long time.
“Okay!” Jeremy’s excitement grew.
Joanna suddenly interrupted, “But don’t rush. The cruise party is just around the corner, and I’ve found out that the Caldwell family has an invitation. Millie will be there. Jeremy, this is our opportunity!”
Her gaze grew increasingly sinister as she spoke. The thought of Millie disappearing soon made her impatient for the day to arrive. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“Ms. Lowell, leave it to me. Just watch,” Jeremy reassured Joanna with a smile. Clearly, he was trying hard to please her.
That night, at Greer Tower, several senior shareholders relentlessly pressured Winston during a virtual meeting.
“If you can’t even secure a partnership with someone as impressive as Mr. Pearson, what are you capable of? Winston Greer, we’re losing confidence in your professionalism!”
“I’m ordering you to head to Musbane immediately and close the deal with Mr. Pearson for our global distribution rights!”
Winston frowned, leaning against his chair’s backrest. His gaze was icy as he looked at the people on the video call.
“Greer Group will never cooperate with William Pearson! To be precise, no one in Yerwick City will.”
Winston refused to believe anyone would have the audacity to defy the Greers and work with someone blacklisted by them.
“Winston, let me be straightforward. William has already taken action. A batch of his goods is already making its way into Crystal Bay!”
Yet, Winston remained calm. “So?”
“So, someone in Yerwick is working with him behind your back!”
Winston looked up at Eli, who nodded, confirming the situation.
“Why didn’t you mention this sooner?” Winston shot a cold glare at Eli. At that moment, his agitation was evident.
“Who is it?” Winston demanded.
He had clearly stated that no one in Yerwick City was allowed to work with William. So why was someone still taking such a risk?
Before Eli could answer, the older men on the video call yelled, “It’s Kennedy Sullivan!”
“Winston, are you unaware that Kennedy has returned to the country?” someone questioned.
Winston’s expression grew frostier. Kennedy had just returned to the country, yet he had the guts to collaborate with William. What was worse, he even dared to ship the goods to Crystal Bay!
Winston clenched his right fist and slammed it onto the table. Wasn’t this an outright challenge to his authority?
He immediately ended the video call, while Eli waited silently for his instructions.
Kennedy really overstepped by challenging Winston’s authority. It was clear he was unaware of the gravity of his actions.
Fuming, Winston turned and pointed at Eli, ordering, “Hold up his cargo at Crystal Bay. I’d like to see who dares to release it without my consent!”
