Millie stole another look at Kennedy, thinking, “Hm, he’s pretty hot.”
Her phone chimed. It was a text from Rachel. “Have you landed? Wanna join me for some drinks?”
“Sure!” Millie replied before closing her phone. Then, she whispered to Terrence, “Dad?”
“What is it?” Despite being interrupted, Terrence didn’t seem irked.
“Rachel invited me to hang out. Drop’me off in front.” Millie pointed toward the front.
Terrence replied, “Okay.”
Before she left, she nodded at Kennedy, “Mr. Sullivan, happy working with my dad. See you again when I have the chance.”
Smiling, he answered, “Yeah. See you again.”
Millie shut the car door and skipped her way to meet with Rachel. Unbeknownst to her, Kennedy, who had hesitated to cooperate with the Caldwell Group, finally gave the green light.
Millie changed into a black dress at the bar and casually put her hair up with a claw clip. Her elegant nape was on full display.
She ordered a glass of wine and searched for Rachel in the crowd. She spotted Rachel on her phone in a
corner.
Raising an eyebrow, she approached her friend with the wine and teased, “Babe, are you alone? Wanna join me for some drinks?”
Rachel’s head snapped up when she heard Millie’s voice.
They exchanged a smile. Rachel remarked, “Ugh, that was so corny.”
Millie swirled the wine in her glass, looking unbothered, “Did you miss me?”
“I’m here to tell you that I plan to work with Simon Harrison,” Rachel announced.
Millie nodded. “That sounds awesome. I have my eyes on the Harrison Corporation’s latest beauty line. It is a perfect match for you. I think it will sell like hot cakes!”
“Mills, that’s not my point.”
Millie raised an eyebrow. What was Rachel trying to say?
“From my interactions with Simon, I think he’s a great guy. Are you not going to reconsider dating him?” Rachel inquired with a frown.
As Millie’s good friend, she hoped Millie could settle down with a decent man. At times of need, she wouldn’t mind giving Millie a push.
The mention of Simon’s name didn’t make Millie’s heart flutter. She was honest with herself, and she only saw Simon as a friend.
“Rach, I have no feelings for him,” she replied honestly.
A short pause later, Rachel let out a sigh. “Mills, be honest with me. Are you still interested in Winston-
At the mention of Winston’s name, Millie protested, “I might find it hard to fall in love with another man, but that doesn’t mean I still have feelings for Winston.” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Rachel frowned with a complicated expression.
Millie stated, “Rachel, I won’t look back. There is no possibility between Winston and I.”
“Alright. There’s plenty of fish in the sea. Mills, you deserve better!” Rachel gave her a hug. “Winston Greer is just a massive jerk and a piece of trash! Let’s throw him out! Remember, Mills. He didn’t fall out of love with you. You were the one who dumped him!”
Then, Rachel added, “Let’s stop it now and start drinking!” She lifted her glass and coolly clinked glasses with Millie.
Before long, they were resting on each other’s shoulders.
Rachel suddenly said, “Mills, I’ll let you in on a secret.”
“Huh? What is it?” Millie’s eyes were glazed over.
Rachel leaned against Millie and whispered into her ear, “W–When in college, W–Winston…”

Rachel’s breathing grew heavy. Millie turned as she noticed something was wrong. Why did Rachel’s skin feel hot to the touch?
Frowning, she touched her forehead. Her body temperature was in the normal range. After that, she stared at Rachel’s empty glass before taking a sniff.
Oh, this was bad.
