Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption

Chapter 611

Lizetta froze for a moment, then with a sudden burst of energy, she turned and shoved the person behind her, her voice full of emotion as she lashed out.

"I told you not to touch me! Save your pathetic concern!"

When she needed him most, his care and protection were always missing.

His concern afterward was always too little, too late.

"Liz... don't be like this, it's me."

As her vision blurred with tears, she heard a man's voice and forcefully wiped away her tears to look up.

Standing a short distance away was a man, tall and scholarly with silver-rimmed glasses, looking concerned.

It wasn't Remington, but Hogan.

Lizetta froze for a moment, then quickly turned her face away, embarrassed. She wanted to wipe her face, but Hogan stepped forward and offered her a handkerchief. Lizetta hesitated, then took it and quickly dabbed at her face. Knowing her embarrassment, Hogan spoke first.

"Liz, I'm sorry, I just finished back-to-back surgeries and only just heard what happened..."

He sighed softly, extending his hand, "Let me help you back to your room."

Lizetta looked up, her expression back to normal, and shook her head with a smile.

"It's okay, I can walk on my own."

But as she took a step, her legs gave way, nearly causing her to fall.

Hogan swiftly caught her, and at that moment, a familiar female voice rang out.

"Liz? What's going on here..."

Hearing the voice, Lizetta's eyes filled with disdain.

She looked up and sure enough, it was Stella.

Stella, dressed in a red dress suit with a black silk scarf tied around her neck, her makeup bright and vibrant, stood a few steps away with a servant by her side.

Her gaze lingered on Lizetta and Hogan, loaded with insinuation.

As if accusing Lizetta of impropriety.

Lizetta coolly withdrew her gaze, "Let's go, senior brother."

But Stella blocked their way, "Liz, don't rush off. Won't you introduce me to this gentleman by your side?"

"No need."

Lizetta responded coldly, stepping aside.

But Stella moved again, blocking her path.

"Liz, you might not know, but Evelina

also gave birth that night, a boy, through C-section. He was

premature and too small, so he was transferred here, right in this e

swnevel

incubator. Let me take you to see him."

Stella said, grabbing Lizetta's hand without waiting for a response.

Lizetta had asked Remington before if Evelina had given birth.

The man had answered, indeed, a baby boy was born safely.

Thinking of her own Daisy, also a boy, but not so fortunate, Lizetta felt as though her heart was being torn apart. She felt her pain turn into hatred, forcefully pulling her hand away from Stella.

"Get lost!"

"Ah." Stella exclaimed, stumbling back, leaning against the wall but looking at Lizetta with shocked, tearful eyes.

"Liz, I meant well. You lost your baby,

maybe holding another little one could be a comfort. Or are you still upset about Remington going to Lanson that night?

I'm sorry, calling

I who insisted on

Wonton over that night. If I

had known something like

happen, I certainly..

Lizetta's emotions were at a breaking point, listening to Stella's endless prattle.

It felt like a swarm of flies buzzing around her, and with all her might, she slapped Stella across the face.

Smack!

The sound of the slap echoed down the hallway.

Stella, clutching her face, fell to the ground with a clear handprint on her cheek.

"Lizetta, I was just trying to help, to explain, how could you..."

Lizetta's fingers trembled; she had no more words to waste on Stella. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

She didn't want to see Stella's drama. Clenching her fist, without another glance, Lizetta walked away.
