Chapter 141

Chapter 141 Why Are You Crying?

As they exited the Town Hall, a motorcycle suddenly zoomed past from the left.

“Nancy, watch out!” Nicholas exclaimed, his heart skipping a beat.

Without hesitation, he sprinted towards her and pulled Nancy into his arms, one hand around her waist and the other protecting her head.

“Ah!” Startled, Nancy let out a loud scream.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash, and the motorcycle in front of them tumbled to the ground. The rider rolled over and landed heavily, groaning in pain.

The surroundings fell eerily silent.

Nancy sought refuge in Nicholas’ embrace, her ears filled with the sound of his pounding heart.

“Are you hurt?” Nicholas asked softly, finally catching his breath and looking at her.

“I’m fine. I’m not hurt. What about you?” Nancy asked.

Nicholas released her and rushed to the injured man on the ground.

Approaching him, Nicholas lifted him and growled, “Why were you riding so fast? Do you want to die? Do you realize you almost hit my wife?” Nicholas shouted, his fists clenched, as if he was about to strike.

Taken aback, Nancy quickly ran over to stop him. “Nicholas, calm down!”

“He was speeding. He doesn’t care about his life. I have to teach him a lesson today. I’ll make sure he learns!”

The thought of Nancy almost being hit by the motorcycle filled Nicholas with rage, making it difficult for him to calm down.

What if I hadn’t been there to save her?

He couldn’t bear to imagine the consequences.

Nancy didn’t want him to make a mistake, especially not for her. She reached out and gently grabbed Nicholas’ arm, coaxing him, “Let the police handle it. There’s no need for you to get involved personally.”

If Nicholas were to act first and the incident became public, he would lose the moral high ground, even if he was in the right.

As the head of a large company, every move he made was scrutinized. It wouldn’t be worth it to let a minor incident like this affect him.

“Yeah, bro, I was wrong. Please don’t be angry. Please spare me! Look, I’m injured too. Don’t worry. I’ll definitely obey traffic regulations in the future and never speed again!” the man pleaded.

Nicholas’ anger subsided slightly, and he unclenched his fists.

Nancy had known Nicholas for a long time, and he had always been refined and elegant. Even when he was angry, he expressed it in a civilized manner, often using his gaze and demeanor to make the other person yield.

Seeing him ready to resort to violence was something Nancy had never witnessed before.

Was his impulsive reaction, even to the point of wanting to use violence, all because of her? Was it really because of her?

This realization left a slight bitterness in her heart.

Nancy noticed that Nicholas had injured his arm. His skin was scraped and bleeding, although not heavily.

“You’re hurt. Let’s go to the car. I’ll take care of it,” Nancy urged anxiously.

He was injured while trying to protect her, so she naturally felt concerned.

Even if he wasn’t injured because of her, just seeing him hurt made her anxious and sympathetic.

“No rush. Let’s wait for the police to take him away.”

They left only after the police had taken the young man away.

In the parking lot, Nancy quickly found the first-aid kit.

Nicholas sat in the back seat, which was relatively spacious, and Nancy joined him with the items in her

hand.

“Does it hurt?” she asked.

In truth, this minor injury meant little to Nicholas. But when he saw her lowering her head, looking so serious and anxious, he changed his mind. “A bit.”

At the same time, he furrowed his eyebrows.

“Hold on for a moment. I’ll be gentle.”

Nancy consoled him softly as she treated the wound on his arm.

Nicholas appreciated this kind of comfort. He sat quietly, allowing Nancy to clean his wound and apply the medication.

During the application, a sudden burning sensation passed through his arm, causing Nicholas to furrow his brows and take a sharp breath.

“Your skin was scraped, so the medicine stings a bit when first applied. However, it’s very effective. Just bear with it, hmm?” Nancy gently consoled, blowing lightly on the newly applied ointment on Nicholas’

arm.

She focused and carefully dressed the wound.

[

Nicholas also lowered his head. From his line of sight, he couldn’t see her entire face, only her graceful curves. Her fair and smooth skin was so close.

He could even see the fine little hairs on her face.

She was truly fair, with skin as clear as snow and a face smooth and unblemished like a fragile eggshell.

He couldn’t imagine what kind of injuries she would have suffered if she had really fallen to the ground

carlier.

After blowing for a few minutes, Nancy looked up at Nicholas. “It’s been a while. It should be better now. How do you feel?”

Nicholas raised his head. “Yes, it’s better.”

As he raised his head, his deep eyes met Nancy’s bright and sparkling eyes.

Her beautiful features were gentle like water.

But this beautiful woman was no longer his.

The thought made Nicholas’ heart ache.

After tending to his wound, Nancy put the first aid kit away and then looked at Nicholas, sincerely. thanking him. “Thank you for earlier. If it weren’t for you pulling me to safety, I might have been knocked down by that guy.”

“You don’t need to thank me,” Nicholas replied, his voice cool.

For some reason, hearing her being so polite and earnest in her gratitude upset him.

He acted out of instinct.

He simply didn’t want her to get hurt. Hearing her thanks was not his goal at all. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“It’s nothing. Just be more careful when walking in the future, and look in all directions.” He added, “Especially when I’m not with you.”

“Alright.” Nancy nodded.

Her heart felt twisted and heavy.

After all, Nicholas was correct. Today, he was present to assist her.

However, once they completed this journey, he would no longer accompany her in the future.

Consequently, she would confront all the challenges and hardships in her life alone. Merely contemplating a life without him unexpectedly left her feeling hollow,

It was a dreadful sensation.

Her eyes suddenly welled up, and her tears were on the verge of cascading down.

Nancy lifted her head and blinked, attempting to restrain the tears. Nevertheless, the tears flowed uncontrollably.

She endeavored to wipe away her tears, but it was too late. In a state of panic, she swiftly turned around to remove her tears.

Yet, as she raised her hand, her shoulder instantly felt burdened.

In the following moment, Nicholas gently rotated her entire body.

His hand tenderly grazed her cheek as he wiped away the tears that had escaped from her eyes. “Why are you crying?” he inquired. “Were you frightened just now, or is there an injury you haven’t disclosed

to me?”
