Second Thoughts After Divorce

Chapter 88

Ashton’s POV

It had been an hour or so since we had arrived here at Jacob’s pack and I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact we had already adopted a puppy..

Rose remained on the floor, playing around with the pet after we had gotten it some food and water to drink which it lapped up straight away.

My men said that the family seemed to have left out food before they left but who knows how many clays ago that was.

But

it we were here now, and the animal was safe.

“I need to

back downstairs now Rose, are you coming with me? I suggest, as she

she continues to coo and play around on the floor with the dog.

“Rose?” I try again, but my words fall on death ears.

“ROSE!” I yell, causing for her to jump and for the puppy to whip around to face me tail still wagging happily

Rose gives me an odd look, as though I had just acted out for no reason. “Why are you yelling?” She questions, as I raise my brows accusingly.

“I had to say your name three times!” 1 defend, as her mouth pops open to form an ‘o‘ shape.

“Ah… that makes sense… sorry!” She responds, pushing herself to stand before scooping up the tiny dog in to her arms.

I gesture for her to follow me, as we walk out of the bedroom and set off down the hallways.

So far Rose hadn’t been triggered with being here, thanks to the dog I think? But I wasn’t complaining… maybe it was

was a miracle waiting to happen.

“Lydia look!” Rose spots her friend as we reach the bottom of the stairs, as she picks up speed which gives me anxiety.

“Don’t rush Rose! Remember you’re pregnant!” I scold, as she mutters under her breath and slows down her excited steps.

Lydia’s eyes widen, as Hunt and Sawyer also surround her to all greet the little dog.

“It’s so cute! Where did you get him?!” Lydia shrieks excitedly, as the dog moves to lick their hands playfully.

I think it’s a girl… but they left her behind!” Rose responds, clearly irritated at the fact and rightly so.

The groups eyes narrow, everyone thinking the same thing, before Hunt is the one to say it-

“Bastards!” He shoots the word out, as everyone nods in a sea of agreement.

He’s not wrong there!

I glance in to a nearby meeting room, finding everyone waiting in there for me to tell them their next instructions as I sigh,

“Girls, why don’t you take the dog out back for a while? Hunt can go with you for protection? We have to have this meeting to get things moving here.” I explain, as the girls nod and Hunt guides them towards the back entrance of the place.

Turning g in to the room, the group quieten down, as I clear my throat and motion for Sawyer to stand by my side,

With a sense of purpose, I addressed the assembled group, my voice echoing in the dimly lit meeting room. Alright, everyone,” I began, my tone firm and authoritative. “Our first order of business is to gather up all of the pack members scattered throughout Jacob’s territory and bring them to the grand hall for a meeting tonight at nine–tell them it is regarding the future of the pack and that I will be hosting the meeting.” I conclude my introduction.

There was a murmur of agreement among the group as they listened intently to my instructions. I could see the determination in their eyes, knowing that this was the first step towards rebuilding Jacob’s pack in a much better light than before.

“Sawyer, I want you to lead one group, Hunt will take another, and Jonno, you’ll head out with the third,” I continued, assigning each member their respective task. “Your mission is to gather as many pack members as possible and ensure that they attend the meeting tonight as it is crucial.” I state, emphasising the importance of today.

Things could either go really well or horribly wrong depending on the reactions of the pack and whether or not they still hold any loyalty to Jacob…

Sawyer and Jonno nodded in understanding, ready to take on the responsibility entrusted to them as they broke up everyone in to smaller groups. I could see the determination in their eyes as they prepared to embark on their mission.

“But remember,” I added, my voice taking on a more serious tone, “while you re out there, I want you to gauge the sentiments of the pack members. Find out how they feel about getting a new Alpha and what their previous positions were in the pack under Jacobs rule this could be helpful for us. If you find anyone that looks strong with good morals – bring them to us and we can appoint them new roles.”

The importance of this task couldn’t be overstated. Understanding the dynamics of the pack and the feelings of its members would be crucial in successfully introducing Sawyer as the new Alpha and gaining their trust and support..

“As for the rest of us,” I continued, turning to address the remaining members of the group which consisted of Doctor Carter, Oliver and Ruth, “we’ll stay here and prepare for tonight’s meeting. We need to ensure everything is in order and that Sawyer is properly introduced to the pack in the best light.” I inform them of their duties as each of them agree willingly.

There was a sense of determination in the room as everyone nodded in agreement, ready to carry out their assigned tasks. We all understood the significance of this moment and the importance of rebuilding Jacob’s pack into a strong and unified community.

With a final nod of encouragement, I watched as Sawyer, Hunt, and Jonno headed out, each leading their respective groups with purpose and determination. As they disappeared into the early night with the sun slowly setting above them.

I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in the resilience of our pack and the strength of our bond for everyone hopping a train to come along and help.

Tonight would mark the beginning of a new chapter for lacob’s pack, and with the dedication and determination of everyone involved, I was confident that we would overcome any challenge that lay ahead

As I wrapped up, I turned to find the girls waiting for me outside of the meeting room, dog by their feet. Hunt had set off with his team, leaving me to lead the remaining group, which consisted of Rese, Lydia, Ruth, Oliver, and Doctor Carter, to the grand hall – the same place where our night a couple of weeks ago came to a horrific end….

“Alright, let’s get moving,” I said, gesturing for the group to follow me as we made our way through the lit corridors of the home. Despite the tension hanging in the air, there was a sense of unity among us as we walked side by side, each of us focused on the task at hand – preparing for tonight’s meeting.

As we approached the grand hall, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu wash over me. The last time we were here, it had been under very different circumstances ending in fear, chaos, and uncertainty that had filled the air.

I turned to find Rose and Lydia linked arms together, comforting one another as I send Rose a quick mind–link.

“Are you good?” I ask, watching her nod to me as she takes a deep breath. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

We step inside, finding that the room was left in the same state from the ball chairs and tables upturned and glass smashed everywhere. It was eerily quiet, the only sound being the soft echo of our footsteps as we made our way towards the center of the room.

I glanced around at my companions, each of them wearing expressions of quiet resolve. Rase now clutched Daisy close to her chest, the little dog looking up at her with adoring eyes as she feared it would cut its feet on the shards below them.

Lydia walked beside her, her hand resting reassuringly on Rose’s shoulder. Ruth and Oliver followed closely behind, their faces set in determined lines. And bringing up the rear was Doctor Carter, his expression thoughtful as he surveyed the room having never seen it before.

As we reached the center of the hall, I turned to address the group, my voice echoing in the silence. Alright, everyone.” I began, my tone steady and authoritative. “Tonight marks the beginning of a new chapter for Jacob’s pack. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe that we can get this room looking better in no time! Rose, you can sit this one out as I don’t need you cutting yourself on any glass or falling! Watch the dog whilst we get to work! I believe there’s a supply closet just over there.” I point and recite the plan, as Rose walks around and entertains the dog.

There was a murmur of agreement from the group as they listened intently to my words. I could see the determination in their eyes, a shared resolve overcome whatever challenges lay ahead.

“Let’s get to work,” I said, my voice ringing with confidence as we set off to begin our task of cleaning up the mess left behind. Tonight would be the first of many challenges, but I was ready to face them head–on, knowing that together, we could overcome anything

was a fresh start for us all!
