Chapter 1620
Mrs. Nelson, Keilani, and Lance were gathered in the living room, waiting.
Upon seeing Jennie come in, Mrs. Nelson beamed with happiness.
Smiling from ear to ear, Jennie approached Mrs. Nelson and asked, 'Are you my grandaunt? Thank you for your kind words."
"You're quite clever. Come closer. Let me have a look at you," Mrs. Nelson urged with a smile.
Jennie walked over confidently and asked in a sweet voice, "Grandaunt, are you the same age as Kira? You look much younger than her."
Kira, who was being hurried to the airport, sneezed all of a sudden.
Mrs. Nelson chuckled and retrieved a gift from her pocket. "You're so sweet. Here, this is for you."
"Thank you very much, Jennie responded with a bright smile.
The atmosphere in the living room lifted.
'Jennie, I'll go fetch your great-uncle." Mrs. Nelson rose from her seat and headed upstairs.
Tyrone noted Lance and frowned. "You..."
"He is my brother. Jennie, you can call him uncle, Keilani explained.
Tyrone raised an eyebrow. It turned out that Keilani's brother was Bettie's ex-boyfriend. They had met in Orden.
"Hello, uncle," Jennie greeted Lance politely.
"Hi there. This is for you." Lance touched her head affectionately and handed her a gift.
Jennie excitedly accepted it and sincerely thanked Lance, "Thank you, uncle. You're so kind."
Lance smiled warmly. "Jennie, I've heard you grew up in Hoijery?"
"Yes."
"In that case, you'll probably adjust well to life in Dracwynne. Do you want to go to Philade with me? I can buy whatever you want for you, and your grandparents will undoubtedly shower you with lovely gifts, Lance proposed, his words not minced even in Tyrone's presence.
Tyrone's expression darkened, and he retorted, "That won't be necessary."
Lance met Tyrone's gaze, his eyes filled with contempt. "Why the rush, Mr. Blakely? Jennie hasn't said anything yet." "Lance..." Keilani frowned and shot him a warning look.
"I don't want to go with you!" Jennie frowned at Lance and pouted. "Uncle, don't bully my dad."
"It seems like you already know how to defend your father," Lance commented.
"Of course I know."
Just then, Royce and his wife went downstairs.
Tyrone took the initiative to introduce Royce to Jennie, "Jennie, this is your grand-uncle."
Holding several gifts, Jennie looked up at Royce, blinked innocently, and greeted, "Hello."
With a friendly smile, Royce took a seat on the sofa and addressed Jennie, "Hello there. Your name is Jennie, right?" 'Yes.'
"How old are you?"
'Five." Jennie held out her hand proudly and added, "I'll be starting senior class in September."
Royce nodded in approval. "That's good."
"Grand-uncle," Jennie suddenly called out.
"What is it?" Royce asked, puzzled.
'The gift in your pocket is peeking out." Jennie giggled.
Royce chuckled and handed the gift to Jennie. "Ha ha! Here you go. Are you happy with your gift?"
Jennie almost struggled to hold all the gifts, but she smiled widely until her eyes became slits.
"Yes!" Jennie turned to Tyrone and passed all the gifts to him. "Tyrone, can you help me carry these? Don't lose any of them."
*Sure thing," Tyrone agreed and stowed them safely in his pocket.
*Jennie seems to trust you a lot, entrusting her gifts in your care," Mrs. Nelson pointed out.
"We've lived together for some time," Tyrone explained simply.
"Don't just stand there. Help yourself to some fruits."
Jennie sauntered over to the table and plucked three cherries. Then, she approached Royce and handed one to him. "Here. Please have a cherry."
*Thanks, dear. Indulge more if you like them," Royce responded.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Have a cherry," Jennie repeated and handed the second one to Mrs. Nelson.
As they all wondered who the third cherry was for, Jennie popped it into her mouth.
"Hey, Jennie, spit it out!" Mrs. Nelson exclaimed, concerned Jennie might choke.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Nelson. Jennie will spit out the pit, Tyrone reassured her.
Mrs. Nelson nodded in relief. "Really? That's good. Jennie is clever."
A few seconds later, Jennie spat out the cherry pit and tossed it into the trash can. She thought it was normal for children of her age to know to spit the pit out.
Impressed by Jennie's ability to dispose of the pit herself, Mrs. Nelson praised Jennie, "It's amazing that Jennie can do that on her own." She couldn't help but think that Jennie must take after Tyrone.
Jennie was speechless at the sudden compliment over such a trivial and simple thing.
*Royce, do you think Jennie's lips resemble Zandra's?" Mrs. Nelson asked.
Zandra, Royce's sister, was Lance's and Keilani's mother.
Royce observed Jennie closely before nodding in agreement. "Yes, a little."
"My daughter is bound to take after me while I resemble my mother," Keilani chimed in.
Keilani exclaimed in her heart, "What a stroke of luck! If things continue like this, everyone will only assume Jennie is my daughter, burying the truth."
After some casual conversation in the living room, Royce turned to Tyrone and said, "Tyrone, come with me."
"Sure." Tyrone stood up and said to Jennie, "Behave yourself, alright?"
"I will," Jennie responded obediently.
In the study, Royce settled onto the sofa and gestured to the seat opposite him. "Please take a seat, Tyrone."
Tyrone did as told.
As they got comfortable, a maid entered and served them a bottle of wine.
Tyrone poured the wine for Royce. "Here you go, Mr. Nelson."
Royce took a sip of the wine and regarded Tyrone with a somber expression. "Had it not been Keilani told me about it, I wouldn't have imagined you would have such a connection with her."
Tyrone bowed his head and admitted, "I feel deeply ashamed."
"And you should," Royce affirmed while looking at Tyrone with all seriousness. His words carried weight, leaving no room for misunderstanding.
Royce was indignant and sought justice for Keilani. From Keilani's account, he learned she had endured Tyrone's mistreatment, yet she chose not to involve the authorities and even chose to give birth to his child.
The atmosphere in the study was tense.
"I wasn't aware of this until recently. I understood Kira and I have wronged Keilani. I want to make some amends," Tyrone admitted, his voice laden with remorse. He placed three documents on the table and pushed them toward Royce. "Mr. Nelson, please take a look."
Royce glanced at Tyrone and then lowered his head to peruse the documents. "You're quite generous. If I hadn't reached out to you...
The first document detailed the transfer of five percent of Tyrone's shares to Jennie. It outlined that he would hold them in trust for her until Jennie reached the right age.
Given the market value of the Blakely Group, five percent of its shares amounted to billions.
The second document detailed Kira's medical records, revealing a diagnosis of mental illness by her doctor. It served as both a guarantee for Jennie's safety and a restriction for Kira. With this record, Kira would be barred from entering the country in the future.
Kira had always been obstinate and sought to separate Tyrone and Sabrina by manipulating Keilani to carry out her schemes. She never expected that Keilani's family would hold her and Tyrone accountable for her schemes.
However, Tyrone was Jennie's father, and Kira was Jennie's grandmother. Besides, Royce had sensed Keilani had feelings for Tyrone. Therefore, his summoning Tyrone for a talk wasn't about sending Tyrone to prison but to have Tyrone make amends and face consequences.
The third document entailed a donation of 200 million dollars to the government for construction purposes from the Blakely Group.
