Chapter 5
Lamia paused abruptly.
She clenched her fists, struggling in her mind.
She accepted an interview today, in which she said with certainty that Anson would definitely go to her concert.
Moreover, she said with a smile that she had prepared a great surprise for everyone to enjoy on Saturday.
But if Anson couldn’t show up, everything she said in today’s interview would mean nothing, and she would probably be ridiculed by the public.
After careful consideration, Lamia took a deep breath and forced a gentle smile.
“I was in a hurry and didn’t notice you, so I bumped into you by accident. I’m so sorry! I spent a lot of time making this cake for him, so I became a bit upset when it was ruined. Can you forgive me, little one?”
Her fake smile reminded Evie that Anson had abandoned them for this woman, who had even stolen Elaine’s design. All these grudges between Lamia and Elaine made Evie believe that she couldn’t possibly leave them all behind.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
She hid behind Anson, timid and silent.
Anson almost couldn’t bear the itchiness anymore. He just wanted to go to the hospital as soon as possible, so he said impatiently, “You’d better never treat a kid like that again.”
Lamia said pitifully, “Anson, you promised me that you would go to my concert.”
After a pause, Anson nodded slightly.
Seeing that Anson had agreed, Evie, who had just slightly favored Anson, pressed her lips and let go of his clothes. Then, she rushed out of the building.
“Hey!”
Milo was about to stop Evie, but she quickly got into a taxi.
“They didn’t let you go?” Julian asked with a sullen face.
Evie froze when she looked at him.
She noticed Julian really looked like Anson.
“What’s the matter?” Eddy asked with concern, “Why is your skirt dirty? And why is your hand injured as well?”
Evie told them about her unpleasant encounter with Lamia and heaved a sigh of relief after speaking. I’m thirsty!”
Eddy quickly took out a bottle of yogurt and thoughtfully inserted the straw, telling her to drink slowly while holding her hand and blowing her wound.
Julian frowned and narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
When he attacked the Cameron Group’s network, he found that Anson was more powerful than he imagined.
After hesitating for a moment, Julian took the iPad, hacked into the Cameron Group’s security system again, and retrieved the surveillance video of Evic and Lamia’s encounter.
Seeing Anson’s indifferent attitude toward Lamia,
Julian wondered if Anson had already grown sick of her or if there were other reasons for him being a forsaker of his family.
Milo went back dejectedly. “Mr. Cameron. I didn’t catch up with that little girl. She left me a message, saying her mom had called her. I saw her get into a taxi, though.”
Anson narrowed his eyes.
At this time, the rashes on his neck had spread to his jaw.
“Investigate her right away. I want to know everything about this little girl.”
Milo replied seriously, “Of course, sir. I’ll get it done as soon as possible.”
Anson went to the hospital and found he was allergic to mango.
Fortunately, he didn’t eat too much. Otherwise, the consequences would be horrible.
His good friend Patrick Graves crossed his arms, stared at his abnormally red face, and said flatly, “So, did Lamia show off her horrible cooking skills again? Didn’t she know you are allergic to mango?”
“It wasn’t her.” Anson said weakly.
“Oh? Then who else could let your guard down?”
“A girl who looks very similar to Elaine.”
Hearing this, Patrick’s eyes rounded in shock. “A girl? So…what happened? Love at first sight?”
“It’s not like that! That girl is only three or four years old. She looks almost identical to Elaine!”
Patrick rubbed his temples, looking rather helpless. “I really don’t know whether you love Elaine or not.”
Five years ago, after Elaine fell off a cliff, the rescue team searched for half a month all over the mountain, only to find Elaine’s blood-stained clothes.
Everyone said that Elaine was dead.
But Anson didn’t believe it and insisted on searching at the foot of the mountain, even though he was running a high fever by then.
Anson closed his eyes, trying to avoid this topic.
His phone rang suddenly.
“Mr. Cameron, Josh’s assistant just called. Josh will go to the racing track in the suburbs this afternoon. If we want to secure the opportunity to collaborate with him, this is our only chance!
Anson was good at driving, so he believed he could win the favor of Josh Robinson, who was a racing fan.
Anson narrowed his eyes and asked Patrick, “How long will it take for the treatment?”
Patrick said very seriously, “You are allergic to mango. If you don’t get on with the treatment, you will faint or even die from suffocation! I’m not joking.”
“I’m in a hurry! Is there any specific medicine?
In fact, there was indeed a special drug for treating mango allergy, loratadine.
But Patrick disliked Anson’s careless attitude toward his own health.
“No!”
Anson squinted and pulled out the needle directly after glancing at the drip.
“What are you doing?” Patrick shouted angrily.
“Well, see it yourself.” With that, Anson rushed out of the ward.
Watching him walk away, Patrick shouted angrily. That’s right, Anson! Do as you pleased! I’ll make sure to buy you a nice coffin next time!”-
On the other side, in a branch of Sevier Group, the meeting had already finished. Elaine had received the latest news that Josh was going to the racing track in the suburbs in the afternoon.
“Martin, you’ll be in charge when I’m absent.”
“Elena, are you really determined to strive for cooperation with Josh?”
Elaine ran her fingers through her curly hair. Although her movements were charming, her gaze was sharp and cold.
“Of course! This is my first surprise for Anson!!
She couldn’t help but feel a surge of hatred and pain whenever she mentioned Anson. It reminded her of the helplessness she experienced when Anson chose Lamia without any hesitation
Without Martin’s help, she would have died with her three children.
Martin said, “I will arrange for someone to take the kids back. Then, I’ll accompany you to meet Josh.”
“No need. Just help me take care of them. I can handle Josh by myself.”
“Josh is an important partner of this cooperation for the Cameron Group. Aren’t you worried that you might meet Anson later?”
Elaine’s expression turned slightly pale.
Martin held her hand and said gently, “Elena, no matter what you want to do, I will be there for you.”
Elaine responded with a smile.
“All right. Let’s get prepared and go to the racing track!” Martin smiled back at her gently.
They left the conference room and bumped into the three kids, who looked flustered.,
“Mommy! Martint is Is the meeting already over?” Eddy, who was always eloquent, stuttered a little.
Elaine’s face was filled with tenderness. She walked over to the kids and hugged them. But then, she frowned.
“Is the air conditioner not turned on in the office? Why are you sweating?
“Oh!” Eddy scratched his hair. “Evie wanted to play hide-and-seek just now!”
While lying, he lowered his head, not daring to meet Elaine’s eyes.
Elaine rubbed his head. “That’s okay, I won’t blame you.”
The meeting had lasted so long, so they must have felt bored while waiting.
“Really?”
The kids all looked at Elaine.
Elaine nodded gently with a smile and then said apologetically, “Sweethearts, I still have something to deal with. Can you wait for me for a bit longer?”
“Of course! Go ahead, Mommy. Eddy and I can take care of ourselves and our little sister,” Julian said seriously.
Whenever Elaine saw Julian’s serious look, it always reminded her of Anson.
She smiled even more gently as she looked at him. “Okay then! Ill try to come back as soon as possible! Let the secretary take you back if it gets too late, Okay?”
The three kids nodded earnestly.
Elaine walked away, then looked back at the kids reluctantly. Suddenly, she stopped when her gaze landed on Evie, and she went back with a frown.
