Salute To The General

Chapter 87 Pretending To Be Someone Good

Chapter 87 Pretending To Be Someone Good

Penny Smith!

Plenty of people heard Felix, and even the slowest of them had understood.

The person Felix had his eyes on was none other than the prettiest girl at Channing University during

their time — Penny Smith.

Felix had just mentioned Penny when he heard someone gasp, "Speak of the devil. Penny Smith's

arrived!"

Felix, Lulu, Siegfried, John, and all the rest looked towards the entrance and saw a couple entering the

hall.

The woman was wearing a long dress with her hair in an updo, revealing her slender neck and sexy

collarbone. Looking as elegant as a white swan, was none other than their schoolmate Penny Smith.

And the man standing next to her was Nathan Cross.

Nathan Cross was like fine wine. He looked average at first glance, but the more one looked at him, the

more

delectable he became.

His charms were unconfined to that on the surface.

And so when most people saw Nathan Cross, their first impression was that he was out of his league

with the enchantingly beautiful Penny.

Moreover, the majority of the people there had already heard that Felix was interested in Penny.

Everyone wanted to appease Felix, so when they looked at Penny, they were naturally biased. Some

even mumbled, "Gosh, they're practically Beauty and the Beast!"

When Nathan and Penny arrived at the hall, Felix and the others swarmed up to meet her, greeting her

warmly.

Some of them were genuinely happy to see their old schoolmate, Penny. But there were also plenty of

others whose enthusiasm had another agenda.

Penny smiled and greeted each one of them, before introducing Nathan. "I nearly forgot! This is my

husband, Nathan Cross.”

Nathan smiled and gave a small nod in response.

Felix narrowed his eyes, his gaze flitting across Nathan spitefully.

This was the punk who drove the Pagani Zonda and humiliated me yesterday!

Felix asked deliberately, "Where is Mr.

Cross working?" Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Nathan kept silent, and Penny answered in his stead. "My husband was just discharged from the

military recently. So for the time being, he's resting at home."

Penny had just finished explaining when the burly John Caulkin jeered, "So he's just an unemployed

bum!"

A crease immediately formed between Penny's brows when she had heard what John said.

John Caulkin was one of Felix's lackeys back in the day and was always finding some way or the other

to suck up to him. Many of their schoolmates had even secretly referred to him as Felix's lapdog.

Penny refuted his claim, "Not unemployed, just resting for a while. If my husband wants to work, he can

start whenever he wants."

John snickered, "That's true. I heard that you're the CEO of your own company now. If your husband

wanted to work, you could easily arrange something for him."

"But I don't know. Does that make your husband the kind of man who leeches off of a woman?”

Anger flashed through Penny's eyes. She was also worried that Nathan would become so enraged that

he would punch John in the face.

But Nathan kept his cool, as Felix jumped in to play the nice guy. He pretended to rebuke John, "You're

going overboard, John."

Felix was the one who had started all of this, with John merely joining in with a jab or two. And yet,

Felix was now pretending to be the good guy.

The edges of Nathan's lips twitched upwards with a meaningful smile.

Lulu quickly jumped in to smooth things over. "That's right! We're all schoolmates here. This gathering

is a chance for everyone to get in touch with old friends, so teasing is allowed! Come, come! Let's all

find a seat and have some wine."
