Salute To The General

Chapter 2997

Chapter 2997

After the banquet ended, Fang and the others returned to the North, while Nathan headed to Channing.

By ten o'clock that night, he arrived at the doorsteps of his dwelling in Channing.

He noticed that the living room lights were on and sounds of conversation could be heard. It seemed that there were guests.

He unlocked the door and entered the house.

Penny, Queenie, Kylie, Benson, Leah, and Ava all had looks of surprise on their faces.

Queenie rushed toward him, shouting, "Daddy!"

Nathan hummed in response before gladly lifting her in his arms.

Penny walked up to him, all smiles, a soft look in her eyes. "We got a call from Admiral Hill this morning to inform us of your safe return today. We assumed that you would arrive by tomorrow due to the banquet, but you came back tonight," she said with joy.

"Work in the military is settled, so I hurried back," he answered happily.

"We have a guest tonight," Penny whispered.

It wasn't until then that Nathan noticed that there was a guest in the living room.

It was none other than Kerry, who had recently joined the Secret Service.

She looked smart and formal in a black suit, no longer the lackadaisical woman Nathan had met.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

After briskly walking up to Nathan, she greeted him politely, "Good evening, Mr. Cross."

"Fancy seeing you, Kerry. How's work at the Secret Service?" inquired Nathan with a smile.

"My superiors are all very caring, so I'm doing quite fine in my job," Kerry replied.

By then, she hesitated for a moment before muttering, "The purpose of my visit upon knowing that you'll be enjoying your holidays at Channing is to inquire about the whereabouts of Master."

"Have a seat." Nathan pointed at the sofa.

After both of them sat down, Nathan explained, “I have sent someone to search for clues regarding Heavenly City, but we have no news as of yet. Mr. Macalister bid me farewell some time ago while claiming that

having led a nomadic life. However, I knew for a fact that he had intended to venture out to the Doom Canyon at Ariarica alone to find clues about Heavenly City. I couldn't stop him, so I let him be, and I do not know his whereabouts as of now."

Nathan was slightly worried when he spoke of Kraven.

The man used to serve under Lothar.

Back when Nathan was still under Lothar's tutelage, Kraven had taken care of him, so he considered Kraven his uncle.

Kerry seemed concerned when she heard that Kraven insisted on going to the Doom Canyon in search of clues about Heavenly City.

Orphaned at a young age, Kerry grew up alongside her master, Hermes.

Aside from Hermes, Kraven was the second person from whom she received warmth and fatherly affection.

Having been through life-and-death

situations together, she had come to see him as somewhat of a father figure, and he, too, saw her

daughter.

Thus, she was worried upon knowing that Kraven was infiltrating a danger zone alone.

Nathan comforted her when he

noticed her worries. "Rest assured that I already had multiple

departments investigate Heavenly City. We should be getting some news soon. Then, I'll dispatch a team to rescue both our masters."

"Okay." Kerry nodded.

Neither of them was aware that Kraven was, at that very moment, undergoing a life-and-death trial in a foreign land thousands of miles away.

It turned out that Kraven had received news upon his arrival at Ariarica that the Twelve Rooms in Heavenly City had all left for Daragon Island.

He assumed that Heavenly City would be at its weakest during that time.

Therefore, he left for Heavenly City, which was located above the mountains at the Doom Canyon, without hesitation.

The region within a radius of dozens of kilometers around Heavenly City was a restricted military zone.

Although troops were stationed there, none of that posed a problem to Kraven.

Given his superb skills, he managed to infiltrate the restricted zone and enter Heavenly City with ease.

However, he was discovered as soon as he entered the city, which set off the blaring sirens.
