Salute To The General

Chapter 2848

Chapter 2848

After Penny and the others left, Nathan took his leave as well.

He left the hotel silently and hailed a taxi outside.

Coincidentally, the taxi driver was also a Eurasian.

After sitting in the backseat, Nathan ordered plainly, "Take me to Black Swan Castle."

The taxi driver, who was a man in his fifties, widened his eyes in horror when he heard Nathan's destination. He glanced at Nathan carefully from the rear-view mirror and said in an uncertain tone, "Sir, I can't send you there. It'd be for the best if you could hail another taxi to take you there."

Nathan frowned. "Why?"

The taxi driver turned around and scrutinized Nathan. When he saw Nathan's upright posture and the righteous vibe he was exuding, he asked in seriousness, "Do you really not know? Or are you pretending not to?"

Nathan smiled at him. "I don't really get what you're trying to say."

Taking in the clear and sincere look in Nathan's eyes, the taxi driver remarked, “Black Swan Castle has been abandoned for many years. A long time ago, rumor has it that the place was haunted."

He added, "I don't have the guts to drive you there now that it's close to midnight. Besides, the police found hundreds of bodies in the woods around Black Swan Castle some time ago. I heard that the bodies were all drained of their blood, and the case remains unsolved until now. The police said it was probably done by some psycho killer, but a lot of the folks were saying that vampires did it."

As he spoke, the taxi driver turned his gaze toward Nathan, his eyes full of terror.

Rumor has it that all vampires are handsome by default. Now that I'm looking at him, I can see that he's actually quite the handsome lad. Could it be that he's a vampire?

As that thought crossed his mind, the taxi driver was so frightened that he almost peed his pants.

Nathan could tell what he was thinking about. He smiled and took out a Eurasia military ID. Chuckling, he said, "I'm actually a soldier from Eurasia. A friend of mine encountered some trouble in Black Swan Castle, so I'm heading there to provide some assistance. There's nothing to be afraid of."

A soldier? He's a soldier from Eurasia!

When the taxi driver saw the military ID in Nathan's hand, he was stunned for a moment before letting out a sigh of relief. The wariness and terror he was feeling dissipated soon after.

Realization dawned on him as he mumbled, "No wonder you were sitting so upright and looking like a battle-hardened man. Turns out you're a soldier of Eurasia!" The driver, who was scared out of his wits just moments ago, was now completely fine after finding out Nathan's identity.

In fact, he even asked Nathan what his rank was.

To that, Nathan replied with, "That's classified information.”

Hearing that, the driver didn't push the topic further. If he knew that the man sitting in his car right then was the president of Eurasia, he would have probably fainted on the spot. Content belongs to

Nheless, now that he was aware that Nathan was a soldier, he was no longer afraid.

In his mind, the soldiers of Eurasia were the most righteous of sorts. Instead of feeling afraid, he actually felt quite safe.

Nathan was non-committal, his face giving nothing away.

Seeing how Nathan was keeping mum, the taxi driver got even more curious. He reckoned that his guess was right.

Along the way, the driver kept babbling on, filling Nathan in with countless rumors.

He told Nathan that there was a nest of vampires in Black Swan Castle, and they would often kill people who wandered into their territory.

Before they knew it, the taxi had

As such, he ordered the taxi driver to stop the car. He was planning to go the rest of the way by foot.

After all, Antonio did tell him to come alone.

Besides, Nathan didn't want to get the taxi driver involved.

After telling the taxi driver to let him off, Nathan said, "You can leave now.

It's really not safe here."

With that, he left under the taxi driver's horrified gaze.
