Salute To The General

Chapter 2696

Chapter 2696

Nathan turned to Nelson with a strange smile and said, "Nelson, did you see the mighty soldiers and the weapons they carry? I have to say that many things have changed in twenty years."

Nelson had no choice but to admit, "I've seen them, President Cross. They're truly the best soldiers in the world."

Nathan nodded. "That's right. They're the world's best soldiers, and they've got a kind heart in them. They'll be taking on roles to defend the nation. Without hesitation, they'll defend the country with their blood and bullet against anyone who thinks of invading our country or hurting the country and its people. Even if the bloodbath goes on throughout the night, and even if they die in the process, they'll still do it in a heartbeat.”

At that, Nathan swept his gaze across the crowd before fixing his eyes on Nelson again. In a frigid tone, he said, "So, I would say it's best for you not to underestimate our soldiers' determination to defend the nation. I will also never let anyone or any external force hurt or destroy the nation's prospering state." Nelson could hear Nathan's tone turning grave, and he knew that the latter's words were meant for him.

Hence, he blurted out, "Of course 1 won't, President Cross. Is there a misunderstanding?"

Nathan sneered. "A misunderstanding?"

He then turned and waved to a guard at the side.

The guard immediately understood what he meant and brought a birdcage over.

The bird cage was the one Max had asked Nelson to gift to Nathan, and the bird inside was the bald eagle that represented Ariarica.

As Nathan stared at the bald eagle in the cage, he uttered, "Max has asked you to give this bird to me. Clearly, you've got a pretty good relationship with him."

Nelson hastily said, "I have friends all over the world. President Cross, you can't accuse me of sabotaging the country's stable condition because I have friends overseas. You can't say that I'm hurting the country just like that. I refuse to be blamed for that!"

Nathan hummed. "Friends overseas, huh? You have a lot of friends overseas, don't you? In fact, you have ny-nine of them if you exclude Max! Your hundred friends from overseas have actually signed this petition of yours on behalf of their countries to help you become the next president. Nelson, do you know that with this alone, I can pin the crime of treason on you for making an alliance with foreign forces to intervene in the nation's internal affairs?"

What?

Nathan's words had struck Nelson like a bolt from the blue.

Not only was he doomed, but his entire family would be dragged down to hell with him as well.

Hence, he quickly denied, "I didn't betray the country! Nathan, stop assuming that you can pin any crime on me just because you're the acting president."

Zion then said in a glacial tone, "Is that so? Nelson, don't you know that your petition is the best evidence showing that you've allied yourself with foreign forces to intervene in the country's internal affairs? That alone is enough evidence to find you guilty of treason."

Again, Zion's words struck Nelson like a bolt from the blue.

Just as he was about to defend himself, Nathan took out the bald eagle from the cage and said, "Nelson, you shouldn't have ganged up with foreign forces, and you shouldn't have used Ariarica to threaten me. Who are you trying to seare with this bird from Max?" Content belongs to

As Nathan spoke, he let the bald eagle free.

Then, he folded his hands behind his back and looked at the square in front of the city gate tower. At the hundreds of thousands of soldiers, he said, "Soldiers, what do you think should be done to a traitor?"

"Execute him!"

"Execute him!"

"Execute him!"

Half a million soldiers chanted the same thing at the same time.

Their boisterous voices shook the earth and echoed through the land.

At that very second, when the soldiers cried out in unison, the bald eagle that Nathan released shrieked in fear before falling from the sky, dead.

Nelson felt he was foreseeing his and Ariarica's future after crossing Eurasia when he saw the symbol of Ariarica die from the cries of the soldiers. His face turned ashen, and dread entered his eyes.
