Chapter 2684
Chapter 2684
Nathan frowned slightly when he saw that.
“Huh... Who is this Nelson guy? Is it even possible for someone who has been living abroad to come back and run for president? What's even crazier is the huge amount of countries that are supporting this! What does our president have to do with them?” Penny asked out of curiosity.
Nathan switched off the television as he replied calmly, “I have heard of Nelson. He used to be quite the prominent figure in the country back then, and he was competing with Hansel for the position of president. Eventually, he lost due to his extremely small amount of votes. Due to his usage of underhanded methods while running for president, Nelson later fled the country for fear of Hansel coming after him. From what I've heard, he has been living a rather decent life overseas. He managed to maintain a close relationship with the higher-ups in various other countries. I'm just surprised to hear him announce his return all of a sudden.”
Hmm... It sounds like Nelson has quite an impressive background. He seems to be quite a capable person too.
With that in mind, Penny asked, “Do you think he stands a high chance at becoming the president, then?”
Nathan flashed her a smile. “Nelson? Stand a high chance at becoming the president? What a joke!”
Penny froze for a moment upon hearing that, but quickly understood what he meant when she saw his confident expression.
Oh, I get it! Nelson may have an impressive background, but a lot has changed now! Given the current state of the world, even Hansel is reluctant to take up the position! As such, Nelson will just be making a fool out of himself if he shamelessly tries to run for president!
Suddenly, a loud and clear voice could be heard calling out to Nathan from outside.
Recognizing it as Colin's voice, Nathan responded calmly, “Come in.” Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Colin then came in seconds later looking really sharp in his uniform.
“Good day, Chief Cross and Mrs.
Cross!” he shouted while saluting Nathan.
“There are no outsiders here, and we're not in public either. You can drop the formalities, Colin,” Nathan replied with a frown.
Colin let out a chuckle. “Of course.”
“I had you restructure Capital Garrison, right? How is the progress so far?” Nathan asked.
Although Nathan had officially taken over Capital Garrison, the unit had always been under Will's command. As such, he needed to have the unit cleared of Will's loyal supporters before he could put it to use.
That was why Nathan had Colin carry out a full restructuring of the unit. By sending some of its men to other military branches in exchange for their elite soldiers, Colin could rebuild Capital Garrison.
That was a lot of work to get done, so Colin had been busy with it the whole time.
“That's exactly what I came to talk to you about, Chief Cross. The restructuring of Capital Garrison has been completed. Not only are the two hundred thousand soldiers all elites, but they're also extremely loyal men. By the way, fifty thousand of those soldiers are men that I have transferred over from the North Army. Because they are constantly fighting wars all year round, those men are
ruthless and highly efficient soldiers. They've all served under you in the past, so there shouldn't be any problems,” Colin replied.
“The North Army truly is the best when it comes to combat prowess. I bet Fang must've been upset about you transferring their elites over, huh?” Nathan said with a chuckle.
“Fang was indeed a little unhappy about it. After all, those men are from the elite unit that he personally trained. That being said, he readily agreed to their transfer as it would be an honor for them to serve you directly, Chief Cross,” Colin reassured him.
Nathan nodded. “That's good to hear.”
Their conversation was interrupted when Sage knocked on the door and entered.
After greeting them, he cut straight to the chase and said, “Chief Cross, Nelson has returned from overseas to compete for the position of president. His flight will be landing in Brimmopolis this afternoon. Should we take any precautionary measures against him?”
With all eyes on him, Nathan replied calmly, “Nelson gives himself too much credit. We can ignore his presence as long as he doesn't do anything illegal.”
“Yes, sir. As you wish,” Sage responded.
After Penny went back to get some rest, Colin and Sage took their leave as well.
Oh, Nelson... It's obvious that you're in cahoots with the foreign forces... I just hope you won't do anything foolish, or you might just meet a horrible end.
Nathan thought to himself as he stood by the window.
