Salute To The General

Chapter 2638

Not long after Braydon and Sigurd were locked in a cell at the prison at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor, Nathan arrived with Colin, Sage, and the others.

"Chief Cross!" Braydon and Sigurd called out in shock when they saw him.

Colin brought a chair over and wiped the seat.

Nathan slowly took a seat before looking at the Goodall brothers, who were behind bars. With a smile, he said, "Mr. Braydon, Mr. Sigurd, greetings."

Both brothers were freaking out internally as strange looks appeared on their faces.

A beat later, Bray don squeezed out a smile and rubbed his hands. "Greetings, Chief Cross. There has been a misunderstanding. Please don't be angry. We'll certainly apologize and make amendments for anything we haven't been able to excel in our work..."

Nathan flatly said, "I don't think there is any misunderstanding here. You've decided on your own to tail and eavesdrop on me without receiving any orders from the higher-ups; you've decided to start an investigation on me on your own. Is this not the truth?"

Both Bray don and Sigurd opened and closed their mouths but were unable to say anything to that.

Nathan uttered, "Since you can't deny it, there's no misunderstanding here. My schedule and conversations are all kept confidential. You're both currently suspects of espionage. Now that you're both arrested, I hope you won't assume that you'll be able to get out of this easily."

Braydon bit his lower lip before saying, "Chief Cross, what can we do so that you'll let us go?"

Nathan calmly replied, "You've already enraged me when you targeted Mr. Lucas. It's true that Mr. Lucas has done illegal things. He has not been disciplined enough, and that's why fruit flies like you have laid eyes on him. There's nothing I can say about that, and that's why I'm not holding you accountable for that matter. However, you've decided to target me. Did you think that I'm weak just because I've launched no attacks on you?" By then, Braydon and Sigurd already had deep frowns on their faces.

Nathan continued, "Your crime of

espionage allows me to keep you in prison forever. I have the right to keep you locked up for anNôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

I can even execute you both. Nevertheless, I can give you an opportunity. As long as you confess who ordered you to target Mr. Lucas, as well as why you've decided to start an investigation on me, I'll consider giving you a light punishment."

Upon hearing that, both Braydon and Sigurd went pale with horror.

Naturally, they were following

Erwin's orders when they targeted Zion. They wanted to take Nathan down as well by pulling the same trick on him to ensure that Erwin would be able to become the next president.

However, they could not possibly say that out loud.

Nathan was obviously asking both of them to betray Erwin Holmes.

If the two of them betrayed Erwin, Erwin would definitely be caught up in the whirlpool of mess. By then, the chances of him becoming the next president would be slim.

Hence, regardless of everything, they could not betray Erwin.

Yet, if they did not, they would be doomed.

When Braydon realized that he had gone down a path of no return, he, surprisingly, calmed down.

He sneered at Nathan and said,

"Chief Cross, I know what you're planning you want us to betray our dear mentor, but I'll tell you now that you've got the wrong impression of us. We're not ones who would betray our mentor!"

Even Sigurd was glaring at Nathan. "That's right, so give up on that! Don't you assume that you can do anything you want just because you're the Chief Military Governor. Our mentor won't be sitting on his hands if anything happens to us. I'm sure that he'll be pressuring you all in a few days. By then, you'll have no choice but to let us go!"

Nathan hissed, "Since you don't appreciate the chance I've given to you, be ready to spend the rest of your life in the army's secret prison!" With that said, he stood up and left.
