Salute To The General

Chapter 2618

Nathan was a smart man. He figured out Zion's intentions the second he heard about the visit.

Hence, he grinned as he looked at the nervous guy sitting in front of him. Calmly, he said, “My thoughts? I think that you are a grounded person who has been working at the Cab for years. You are also the cab secretary, so there is no question about your skills at all. You definitely have what it takes to be the president."

Zion's eyes glowed the second he heard what Nathan said.

However, Nathan continued, "Erwin, on the other hand, has always kept a low profile and looked like regular folk. Yet, the truth is that he is extremely skillful and powerful. He is like a gem hidden underground, and he'll shine when his potential is unleashed."

Zion's smile stiffened.

Nathan calmly pointed out, "President Woods also enjoys keeping a low profile when he works, and that similarity is why President Woods favors Erwin. My take on the matter is that you both have equal shots at getting the job."

Penny and the others had been eating quietly, but they were also listening intently to Nathan's conversation with Zion.

Even she could tell Zion was trying to have Nathan back him up, and she was curious as well. Will Nathan help Erwin or Zion?

However, after hearing Nathan's response, she couldn't help but cheer secretly. Ooh, my husband is so cool. It sounds as though he has shared so much, but the truth is that he hasn't said anything useful at all.

That point also made her feel impressed. Aw, no wonder Hubby is given the role of the Chief Military Governor. I'd be a mess if I were the one in that position. Dealing with politicians and powerful figures like that... It's like going into a war with words, and 1 am not fit for it. The way Nathan deals with them is impressive.

Nathan's words were plentiful, but he didn't say anything useful.

Yet, somehow, his words wouldn't offend Zion.

Zion became deep in thoughts after hearing Nathan's words. It was at that point that he understood why Garrett favored Erwin.

Ah, so this is just because their style is similar. President Woods probably saw his younger self in Erwin, and that is why he has high hopes for Erwin. Huh... So... Erwin isn't as weak as I thought.

It was at that moment that Zion became even more convinced that he needed Nathan on his side.

However, Zion was not an idiot and knew that Nathan did not wish to help either party.

His eyes glowed a little differently, but he didn't put any pressure on Nathan because he knew that everything would backfire if he did so.

Nathan has always been a guy who cares deeply about the people around him, so I will have to work on that if I want to convince him to join me.

Zion chuckled. "Your comment is on point, Nathan, and I am truly impressed."

Nathan grinned. “I am simply a

bystander who views things from a different angle. My observation might not be accurate, so please don't take my words too seriously, Mr Lucas."

Zion replied, "Oh, that's not true at all. I've learned a lot from listening to your words."

Nathan picked up his wineglass and suggested, "Come on. Let's drink on."

Zion immediately held his wineglass and replied, "Sure!"

The two drank a little more before Zion took his leave.

Before he left, though, he turned to Nathan and suggested, "The day after tomorrow is Mr. Windsor's birthday. Since he doesn't have any children, I think that we, being his comrade and disciple, should celebrate his birthday with him. What do you think, Nathan?"

The mere mention of Hansel got

Nathan to pay attention. He immediately agreed. "He has always been a mentor and a father figure to me, so I agree with you. Let's celebrate his birthday with him."

Zion then pointed out, "Mr. WindsorOriginal content from NôvelDrama.Org.

has always enjoyed simpler things and refused to waste money. I bet he won't allow us to throw him a big party this time, either. My plan is to hold a small banquet in Cosmos Suite and invite his closest friends and subordinates. Let's keep this celebration simple. Do you think that will do?"

Nathan replied, "You are so thoughtful. Let's do as you plan. If you need anything, please let me know. I want to make sure that Mr. Windsor has a great time at the party."

Zion smiled. “Okay. I should really head home now. Let's chat again at Mr. Windsor's birthday banquet."
