Salute To The General

Chapter 2615

When everyone got home, Erwin realized that his younger son, Hamish Holmes, had been waiting for them for quite some time.

Hence, he asked, “Hamish, did you thank Will?"

Hamish politely replied, "I've already thanked him on your behalf, Dad. He said to tell you that our families have been friends for so long, so it is only right that we help each other out. Additionally, he claimed that he wanted the families to become even closer."

Erwin nodded approvingly. "You did good, Hamish."

After that, he turned his attention to his elder son and scolded, "See that, Carrey? You should learn from your brother."

Hearing those words prompted fury to burn within Carrey's heart, but he had no choice. He had to swallow his anger and reply, "Understood."

Erwin checked the clock and noticed that it was already two in the morning.

He was getting older, so he couldn't stand staying up all night anymore.

He yawned and said, "Okay, then. It's late, so you should both go to bed. I'll retire to my room now, too."

Carrey and Hamish bowed simultaneously. "Good night, Dad."

Erwin waved his hand dismissively, then left with a few bodyguards following closely behind.

Just like that, Carrey and Hamish became the only ones left in the living room.

Carrey didn't bother being nice to his younger brother after their father left. A scowl showed up on his face, and he harrumphed before turning around to leave.

However, Hamish called out, "Carrey, wait!"NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

Carrey stopped in his tracks. In a cold tone, he said, "As far as Dad is concerned, I will always be the troublesome son who makes mistakes all the time. You, on the other hand, will always be the obedient son. He even told me to learn from you. Bet you feel real good to hear that, huh? Why bother calling out to me then? You obviously don't give a sh*t about me."

Hamish grinned bitterly and replied, "You misread the situation, Carrey.

We're brothers, so why would I want to hurt you? You are the eldest son of the family, and our family tradition dictates that you will be the next leader of our powerful family. I will never cross you because I will be counting on you in the future."

Carrey sneered. "Good. Remember the irrefutable fact that I am the eldest son of the family. You will never be the leader so long as I am around, so don't bother trying something funny, or you'll have a bleak future ahead!"

A glint of virtually undetectable cruelty flashed past Hamish's eyes when he heard those words.

He concealed it well, though. He even spoke in a fearful tone. “Understood. You are right, Carrey. I will be careful from now on and will not steal your thunder again."

Carrey was rather pleased with Hamish's attitude, so his anger faded a little. Still, he kept his head up and remained proud. “Go on, then. Why did you stop me from leaving? Say what you want to say and do it quickly. I have to get my teeth fixed. I've got a lady waiting for me to spend the night with her."

Deep within Hamish's eyes was a hint of disdain.

What the hell is wrong with this useless brother of mine? He caused a colossal mess today, and he's still thinking of having fun with ladies? What a hopeless man.

Hamish calmly replied, "There's a rumor going around, Carrey. I'm not sure if you know about it..."

Carrey rolled his eyes and said, "There are a ton of rumors out there. How am I supposed to know which one you're talking about?"

Hamish answered, "It's about Dad.

According to that rumor, the

president has cancer and is barely

president. Unfortunately, the president's situation is terrible, and even if the treatment works, it will take some time before the president recovers. Hence, a new president has to be elected. Rumor has it that the Chief Military Governor is everybody's first choice to be the next president, whereas our dad is the second most favored candidate."

By then, the frustration on Carrey's face had already faded. He became especially interested in the matter.

He couldn't help saying, "I heard about that as well, Hamish, but there's no saying if that is true."

Hamish grinned and replied, “I spent quite some effort and tapped into my resources to verify that information. It's legit. President Woods actually said those words."

Carrey practically jumped in excitement upon hearing that.

"Then that would mean that Dad will become even more powerful. He will be at the top and will be the president!"

Hamish nodded. "It's true. He has a shot at that, but it's a slim one because President Woods said that his first choice is the Chief Military Governor. Our dad is his second choice."

Hearing that turned Carrey's smile upside down right away. "Him again!"
