After the encounter with Aaron and Mr Austin, Deloise relegated to her shell to nurse her wounds. As a result, she wasn’t as outspoken or outgoing except when needed.
She also began classes the following day and made deliberate steps to avoid any sort of mishaps in her life moving forward.
Later that day, she surprisingly came across a message bearing the filming schedule for the production and wondered if it was from the director. Her ponder was cut short when she realized that it was from the same number which had called and requested she go to the administrative building.
She couldn’t help but wonder his reason behind the oh so generous gesture. It was either he finally realized he was in the wrong and did it as some sort of apology or it was directed by Mr Austin.
Whichever it was, Deloise couldn’t care less. Aaron was the most evil jerk she was unfortunate to meet in her lifetime and nothing could change her perception of him.
Not even a filming schedule she needed and was ecstatic to have in possession.
It was one of the most anticipated weekends in the Royal Arts Academy. The whole school buzzed with excitement as a result of the freshers banquet which was scheduled to be held Saturday evening.
The freshers banquet was an event sponsored by the Royal Arts Academy to properly welcome the newest intakes into the school. As a prestigious school, the banquet was formal and an excuse to showcase their ability to throw a good event alongside other things.
The banquet usually held till about six pm, before it was overtaken and turned into a real college party. The entire school looked forward to mingling and generally having a great night.
Saturday morning, Layla laid over Deloise who was pretending to be asleep.
” Please Dee, you need to go, it’s literally said to be the most anticipated party of the year!” Layla spoke in a whiny tone. ” You can’t stay in while the whole world is having a good time.”
” I don’t want to. Trust me, I’m fine. The last thing I want to do is leave this room, talk less of attending a whole party.”
” Please…you are literally the only friend I have, I don’t want to be alone while every other person shows up with a date or something.” Layla sat up, giving Deloise room to breathe.
” You don’t get it. I’m not cut out for a party right now. The last thing I need is to give the world another reason why I’m unserious with my job.” Deloise’s tone grew bitter at the end of her words.
” You know you can’t live like that. Trust me, the moment you start living your life to please others, that’s the moment you truly lose yourself. Come on! There’s literally nothing to lose; you need a distraction to get your mind off these things, you’ve been a damper for way too long.”
“Ouch.” Deloise muttered with a half smile at her roommate’s persistence. She knew that she hadn’t gotten much sunlight through the week but she couldn’t help it.
She was literally going through a major melt down within herself and needed time to get herself back together and in one piece.
Maybe her roommate wasn’t wrong after all. The inevitable truth was that she was in need of a massive distraction in order to let go of some recurring thoughts and pain. Throughout the week, she punished herself for things that were outside her control.
As a result, she wasn’t in the best headspace and oftentimes wondered if It was going to affect her performance. There and then, she decided she wasn’t ready to take chances.
Attending one party couldn’t hurt right?

” Attending this party was a mistake on my part! ”
Deloise screamed over the loud music playing in the open field. She had decided to attend the party after much persuasion and now, all she wanted was the soft comforts of her mattress.
” No! It is the best decision you’ve made since meeting you.” Layla said with an equally loud voice while she navigated them through the crowd.
The party was filled with a lot of people. New faces were more than the students as the party was open to all. It gave everyone an opportunity to mingle, hook-up and have a fun night out.
The girls arrived much later due to Deloise’ dragging feet with her preparations and finding every excuse in the book to avoid having to attend the party.
” Finally! It feels like hell here. Look at all these people.”
Layla said as she got out of the crowded middle area, now close to the bar and ready to order.
” Exactly. This isn’t my idea of a party, it’s like a festival out here! ” Deloise said with a look that suggested she felt overwhelmed.
” Welcome to Royal Arts darling. What’s your order?” A voice said behind the makeshift bar, his eyes focused on Deloise.
” Uhm… w-water please? ” She stuttered, managing to swallow afterwards.
‘ He was so attractive! ‘
” Don’t mind her, two of your most intoxicating drinks please!” Layla intervened with a smile, and to Deloise, she said, ” loosen up! ”
” Two of my most intoxicating stuff, coming right up! ” The bartender said, ignoring Deloise’s silent protests with a wink that did things she couldn’t comprehend.
The cups were soon passed along to the girls and Layla threw it back in a single shot. Deloise took little sips, careful and vigilant not to get caught by any of her cast members who could interpret it to mean she was an unserious person.
Apart from the fact that she was overly conscious and aware of her surroundings, Deloise felt pretty. For the first time in a long time, she allowed herself to be dressed up in an off shoulder short red dress.
Her stiletto’s made the look even more brazen as with any wrong step, she may as well be walking in her underpants. She took little sips of her drink, while watching Layla dance with some group of people.
Stood by the corner, she felt a strong urge to leave the party due to the prolonged stares from guys who didn’t care to meet her eyes.
As though noticing her little thought, Layla walked from the dancefloor and dragged Deloise, not listening to her pleas to be left alone.
Deloise didn’t feel like getting in the midst of sweaty bodies with her drink on hand, she immediately threw them all in and dropped the cup, letting Layla take her.
Being lightweight, it took measly seconds for Deloise to lose her wits while dancing with Layla.
With steady bops playing, Deloise lets loose and dances like her life depended on it. Her energy was contagious and soon, she was taken around with multiple dance partners trying to get to her.
A little secret about Deloise – she was a queen on the dancefloor. Having the kinds of friends she did brought out the hidden party animal in her which most of the time, she didn’t believe she had.
She was that person who attracted eyes when she let loose on the dancefloor. The boggling fact was she didn’t even need a man to do it.
She was fine all by herself.
Music has always been therapy to Deloise and with a little buzz, it was easy to let out the seductress and nymph she could be when the music flowed through her.
Unknown to Deloise, someone had joined the party and like the many others, had his eyes fixed on her. Aaron stood by a corner, sipping his drink as he watched the graceful movement of Deloise on the dancefloor.
‘ Damn, that’s something. ‘
He couldn’t deny he was surprised by what he saw. Shocked even. His firecracker, upon first glance, seemed like a sheltered young lady. After his last encounter with her, he believed she wasn’t only sheltered, but a tad bit spoiled if he said so himself.
The way she danced, he didn’t know what to think anymore. He prided himself as an accurate profiler but with the appearance of his firecracker, his accuracy got questioned more often than not.
Aaron looked to the dancefloor and like magic, she was looking right back with an expression that allured him. He’d never seen her eyes shine so brightly, and at the moment, he couldn’t help but think blue might be his favorite colour.
Her eyes were daring, alluring and alive. He’s never seen her look so alive. Aaron walked over to Deloise, maintaining eye contact.
Deloise didn’t understand what she was feeling. She’d seen the asshole walk into the party looking like a snack and suddenly felt the urge to make him see her.
She was marveled at the way her body got to work like it heard her little thought, drawing attention to herself.
With alcohol in her system, she felt unhinged and gone was the shy and timid Deloise that wanted to fold herself underneath the covers of her bed, out of sight and judgment.
Now, she was basking in the glory of being seen, wanted and probably adored by him. She couldn’t fathom where all these thoughts were coming from but she couldn’t be bothered about it now.
Deloise felt his eyes on her before she saw it. The look on his face was one she couldn’t read. One thing was evident though. The fact that he was utterly stunned at the sight of what she was doing.
That bit was clear from his slightly opened lips as he watched her grind on some guy. Yes, she was grinding on an unknown guy in public, and without any care in the world.
Maybe she made the right decision after all, she felt the most free in the ten minutes she’d been on the dancefloor than the entire week.
Deloise didn’t know what she was expecting but she definitely didn’t expect to see Aaron walk purposefully towards her with a smirk and drag her away from the hands of her dance partner.
She couldn’t help but notice how firm his grip on her waist was, how intoxicating he smelled and oh how beautiful he looked under the open sky with a devilish smirk on.
” Don’t stop on my account darling, I don’t bite.”
The breathy voice of Aaron filled her senses, his eyes challenged her to continue, to show him just what she was made of, and in that instant, like a defiant queen, she was more than ready to do that.
The music changed and Deloise lost it. Literally. Her waist moved in a manner that caused jaws to drop. She worked her waist in a way that seemed both dreamy and unreal to the onlookers.
Aaron was pleasantly surprised. For the first time ever, he was glad he listened to the incessant talks from Tony to attend this year’s party. He allowed himself to feel all that Deloise had to offer and for the first time ever, he felt high.
Not from the drink he earlier had but from her – an all consuming woman he couldn’t seem to figure out.
Soon the music slowed and so did the dancing. The duo swirled around, looking into the other’s eyes, searching for something they didn’t know or understand.
At that moment, Aaron realized something. She was utterly beautiful. Her beauty, for the first time in his life, caught him off guard. His heart palpitations grew as they danced with little to no space between them.
Their eyes spoke a thousand words withheld by the palpable tension between them. Wrapped in the moment, the duo failed to realize the racked up audience. Photos and videos were recorded of them in that haze.
Unknown to them, in the midst of that audience was none other than Stella. Who sported a disgruntled face with furious eyes at the scene playing before her. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Unable to do anything, she stormed out of the party, filled with wrath which only grew as she replayed the intimate scene over again.
