After a while, they fell asleep nestled in each other’s arms.

Skylar woke up at three in the morning and realized that the lights were still on. She got out of bed and turned the lights off. Then, she got back into bed.

The second did so, Joe dragged her back into his embrace. Perhaps he badly needed companionship on a day like this.

Habits had ingrained themselves in Skylar without her realizing. In the beginning, she’d felt awkward when Joe held her while they were falling asleep. Now, she was knocked out the second he held her.

This was similar to how Skylar sometimes felt like her marriage with Joe could last for the rest of their lives.

“Why don’t you take a tour of my company during the weekends?” Joe sounded highly alert. His voice broke through the heavy midnight silence.

Skylar agreed, “Alright.”

The next morning, they chatted leisurely at breakfast. Skylar mentioned running into Rowan and Jenny at the hospital.

The Jakemans wouldn’t let them be together,” stated Joe.

Skylar didn’t comment further on it.

Clearly, Joe had discovered what was going on between Jenny and Rowan, Rowan would find out what happened between her and Edwin soon.

Harold Zane, the headmaster of Woodman High, visited Simona and Wendy in the hospital. He was accompanied by Tom Black, a teacher.

Simona had never talked about her background at school, so Harold and Tom had no idea she hailed from such a powerful family. Aiken wasn’t someone you wanted to piss off. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

A few of the perpetrator’s parents had come to school crying about how they’d lost their jobs.

All of them were performing students. When the teachers checked on them at the detention center, they confirmed that the boys had done so on a whim.

They were teenagers who acted without thinking things through, not knowing the consequences of their

actions.

Thus, they came to the hospital to convince Simona and Wendy so they would ask for more compensation. Perhaps this would save the boys‘ future.

However, when they arrived at Simona’s room, they saw Aiken taking a call. They swallowed their words.

Aiken looked at Harold and Tom blankly. He asked, “Did you both come to the hospital right after leaving the detention center?”

This stunned them

“If I’m not mistaken, my company has been sponsoring many of Woodman High’s projects for the past. decade. Now, it looks like you don’t deserve it. You’re unwilling to make the perpetrators take responsibility for their actions. Rather, you’d make the victims suffer. You’re trying to push me around,” said Aiken calmly.

His calm demeanor was the most terrifying part of this. It was a covert threat.

In addition, Aiken knew about how they’d gone to the detention center and the intentions they harbored upon coming to the hospital.

Harold calmed down quickly. He pleaded, “The children have realized how problematic their actions were. Their parents are willing to provide compensation with the hopes that it’ll satisfy them. These children aren’t evil people. Their parents regret not instilling the proper morals in their children. Can’t you have mercy on them?”

Some of their parents owned companies, others were board members of huge corporations, and another was Harold’s nephew. They’d be removed from their positions or forced on a path of no return.

In addition, Woodman High couldn’t get involved in a scandal. Harold was about to retire, and this happened right before he did so. He probably wouldn’t have a peaceful retirement at this point.

Aiken roared. “Bullshit!”

Harold and Tom’s faces fell.

“You”

“They bragged about it to their friends afterward. Does it look like they’ve realized how problematic their actions were? Why don’t you try being bullied? Then, I’ll grovel for your forgiveness. What do you think?” Aiken shot back.

“Y–You can’t make such a hypothesis.” Harold and Tom were floored.

Aiken grinned and replied, “It’s not a hypothesis.”

Their mouths fell open.
