After the nurse left, Skylar left the room and saw Joe leaning against the outside wall.
“Aiken texted me just now, He’ll be arriving at the hospital soon. It’s almost dawn. Are you tired? Would you like to go home and take a rest?”
Joe suddenly grabbed her hand and embraced her. He whispered into her ear, “The Williamses treated you like that too, hadn’t they?”
Skylar’s eyes welled up with tears. The hurt she’d sequestered away after the downfall of the Williamses came to the surface once more. Although it was all over, cold sweat still beaded on her forehead upon thinking of what happened before her rebirth.
“It’s all in the past. I had a relatively happy childhood in comparison to Wendy’s. I had a loving mom and brothers who pampered me. My experience with the Williamses isn’t worth mentioning.”
Skylar had been given a chance to try again. However, many people didn’t have this chance. Wendy was one of them. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Wendy had just turned 18. She had her whole life ahead of her. If Skylar could, she wanted to lend Wendy a helping hand. Skylar wouldn’t expect Wendy to pay her back.
In her last life, Gloria helped her and the Sullivans family during her surgery without expecting any reparations. On the contrary, the Williamses had been unwilling to waste their time and money on Skylar. If possible, Skylar wanted to pay the kindness forward,
“I would like to sponsor Wendy’s education, but I don’t want her to know that I’m behind it. Could you help me with this?” Skylar asked
Joe caressed her head and promised, “I’ll get it done.”
Aiken had been coming over from the other side of the corridor. However, when he saw Skylar and Joe embracing in front of the room, he took a step back. Aiken walked back into the stairwell.
He took the phone offered to him by one of his men. A few videos depicted what had happened. Aiken watched how the Specters insulted Simona and Wendy.
Aiken didn’t give a damn whether they could’ve driven Wendy to death. However, they shouldn’t have touched Simona,
“Look into the Specters and teach them a lesson.”
“Mr. Parkinson, how severe should they be schooled?”
Aiken pulled a cigarette out. However, he remembered that he was in a hospital. Thus, he held it between his teeth without lighting it. Then, he answered, “Go at it however you wish as long as they remain alive at the end of it.”
Half an hour later, Skylar and Joe left the hospital. They both fell asleep on the
way
home.
After arriving at Galaxy Villa, they took a shower and napped for another two hours separately. When morning came, Skylar headed off to work.
When she left, Joe hadn’t woken up yet.
She’d just clocked in when she ran into Caleb, who’d been waiting for her. He seemed rather down and
greeted his other colleagues weakly.
Upon seeing Skylar, he approached her immediately.
“Um… I heard some rumors going around about what happened at Woodman High. I think a few students bullied Simona and another girl. The school has shut down all discourse about this. I heard this from a student there. I don’t know whether it’s true. Who would dare bully Simona with that temper of hers?”
Although Caleb posed it as a question, he had the answer to it.
If the news got to him, it meant that it was unquestionably true. After all, no one dared tell him fake news about Simona.
