Joe cast a cold glance at Keith.

Keith’s fist, which had been raised, suddenly froze.

With just one look, he could tell that this man was not someone to be trifled with. He wasn’t someone Keith could easily handle.

“You…” Keith stammered.

Both Jimmy and Valencia were the type to bully those they perceived as weak and were afraid of those stronger than themselves.

Especially after Jimmy had been kicked, his face turned pale with fear, and Valencia opened her mouth as if to say something but then hesitated and remained silent.

“Do you know who you were about to hit?” Joe asked.

Jimmy, Valencia, and Keith were at a loss for words. Despite their usual bravado with neighbors, facing Joe made them feel as though their mouths were sealed. They couldn’t bring themselves to speak.

They had initially thought the two girls were easy to intimidate, believing they could handle the situation as they pleased. But now…

Witnessing Wendy’s family’s pitiful state, Simona felt even more sympathy for Wendy.

The two of them had already been through an incredibly tough day, and now Wendy had to deal with her family’s abuse as well.

It was clear just how heartbroken she must be right now. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

“You were about to hit my wife,” Joe said coldly.

When Skylar heard the term “wife” and saw him standing protectively in front of her, her heart skipped a beat. It suddenly reminded her of his earlier words about not getting a divorce.

“We didn’t hit anyone… We didn’t get the chance to.” Jimmy quickly distanced himself from the incident.

He was relieved they hadn’t actually hit anyone.

Valencia’s eyes flickered as she said, “It’s all a misunderstanding. We’re not the kind of people who hit others.”

“We’re victims‘ family, and we’re just emotional right now. You came to cause trouble for us.” Keith quickly defended.

Wendy trembled with anger at the sight of their complete lack of accountability.

“Don’t listen to their nonsense. They were just saying that Wendy and I were at fault, and they even tried

to extort money from the perpetrators. They’re despicable!” Simona seethed with rage.

Joe’s gaze suddenly turned sharp. His imposing presence, already intimidating, now struck fear into

everyone present.

“We… We didn’t say anything wrong. If you hadn’t hung out with those guys, they wouldn’t have bullied you. As girls, you should be more self–disciplined and avoid associating with boys.” Valencia’s eyes flickered as she stubbornly protested.

Besides, Valencia believed that young girls today were shameless, acting high and mighty simply because they were young.

“Shut up! All of you, just shut up!” Wendy shouted in despair at her family.

Every word they uttered was another wound for her. They were supposed to be her family.

All this time, she had dreamed of getting out. She thought that once she earned money and could provide for them, they would treat her better and no longer push her to marry someone wealthy. But she had been

naïve.

Simona cried uncontrollably. “Wendy…”

“You ungrateful girl, do you know what you’re saying? Who gave you the nerve? Do you think just because someone else is here, we won’t dare hit you? We might not hit others, but you are my daughter.

“You’re already disgraceful enough, and now you dare to tell us to be quiet. I’ll teach you a lesson right now.” Valencia approached Wendy, raising her hand to strike her.

Wendy trembled violently. Years of being beaten had made her forget how to defend herself.

Fortunately, Simona reacted quickly and shielded Wendy.

Skylar quickly grabbed Valencia’s hand as it swung toward Simona.

“What you just said and did is all recorded,” Skylar said coldly.

“Get out,” Joe ordered with a chilling tone.
